Brandon Jacobs at NFL.com Edit this at Wikidata Brandon Jacobs (born July 6, 1982 in Houma, Louisiana) is a running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. With a rare combination of 4.54 speed and impressive size (around 6ft 4½ and 264lbs), Jacobs has been an asset for the Giants in goal-line situations. He led all rookies in rushing touchdowns with 7 in the 2005 season.

Jacobs was raised in Napoleonville, Louisiana, and attended local high school Assumption High and later Coffeyville Community College. National recruiting service Rivals.com listed Jacobs the No.1 JUCO prospect in America in 2003. He signed with Auburn but was relegated to 3rd team halfback on the depth chart behind eventual Top 5 NFL draft picks Ronnie Brown and Carnell Williams. Despite less playing time, Jacobs was 2nd on the team with 72 carries for 446 yards (6.2 yard avg) and 3 touchdowns. Unhappy with playing time, he transferred to Division I-AA Southern Illinois for his senior season.

Going into the 2006 season Jacobs stated that he studied film of famed power running back Eddie George in an effort to refine his running style. Eddie George, like Jacobs was a large power running back.[1]
