Redskin (subculture)

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 68.175.66.168 (talk) at 16:43, 6 January 2007 (Added The Press to "bands associated with"). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Red-Skinheads are left wing (communist or socialist) skinheads.

Red-skins take an anti-fascist and militant (sometimes revolutionary) pro-working class stance. The most well-known organization assiciated with red-skins is RASH (Red and Anarchist Skinheads). Some red-skins have also been associatied with SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice), although that group doesn't have an official leftist ideology. Some red-skins aren't members of any organizations at all.

The term comes from the common use by fascists of the term reds as a political epithet against the left in general and anti-fascists (especially militant anti-fascists) in particular.

Bands associated with leftist skinheads are The Redskins and The Press.
