ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Green WU. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hi, would you consider reverting your recent upload of the new Joel Dexter/Rory Douglas-Speed image and uploading with a new file name, so that the Andrew Still image can still be used in the article to illustrate the recast info? - JuneGloom07 Talk 16:11, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you made changes. Think if an article will benefit the use of a promo image first and then add a strong fair use rationale when doing so. Cindy Cunningham's upload page still reads as a screenshot rationale. If you are thinking of a mass change on Hollyoaks, it might be an idea to start a discussion at the relevant wikiproject. Why has Cindy Cunningham's duration changed to 1995–2000, 2002? Cindy appeared in 2001 - she left in 2001 and appeared in 2002 for a brief stint. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 20:50, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Like a lot of pre-2010 Hollyoaks stuff, that was incorrect. I’ve moved a reference to a book published in 2002, which states Cindy last appeared in November 2000, to cover that part of the paragraph. Green WU (talk) 21:54, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed so... Only thing is, books published about soap operas - even official ones - have often incorrect information, so we need to be wary... It's a stressful situation. Out of curiousity, what else was wrong, other than the issue of Cindy not appearing in 2001?

So much stuff was wrong and too much to remember off the top of my head, but to name a few... it said that Gordon Cunningham and Ruth Osborne appeared in the first episode in 1995, but you can watch that episode online and they are very clearly not in it. Many other dates were also wrong such as Bethany Johnson first appearing in 2004 despite the fact it had information about a 1996 storyline she was involved in. Another example is the fact it said Matt Littler started appearing as Max in 1996, but that wasn’t actually until 1997. There were so many other wrong dates for early characters so I ended up editing a lot of them back in May using the information in that book. I don’t see how the book could be wrong as it has a month-by-month breakdown of everything that happened in the show from 1995 up until when it was published in 2002, it repeats these dates in several character profiles, and is published by Channel 4. I think the information from before was written when Wikipedia wasn’t as strict as it is now so it was able to get published with no reference which wouldn’t be allowed today. If the other stuff was written without a reference and there is nothing else to be found then I think the book is the most reliable thing we have. Hope this helps.
