Dhruv Verma (Born 12th September, 1997) is an Indian Actor, an upcoming icon in showbiz, born and brought up in Mumbai. His father, Mr. Vikash Verma, hailing from Mumbai, is a Director and Producer with production house, G-7 Films and the owner of one of the world’s leading Security company- G-7 Securitas And Dhruv’s mother, Mrs. Sonali Verma, from Gujrat, comes from a fine and commercial arts background. His sister, Jahnavi studied art in the University of Arts, London and is an Art director for No Means No.
Already a passionate thespian and actor, Dhruv will make his acting debut in 2021 with Vikash Verma’s innocent teen love story, No Means No, The first Indo-Polish feature film project between the two countries.
When Dhruv was born, his father’s Guru and family friend, the Hollywood Mega star Steven Seagal Flew down from LA to bless the new born[1]. And as fate would have it, christened him with the name “Dhruv”[2]. Steven, having learned hindi when he was once offered the role for lord Rama , and knowing the hindi meaning of the word Dhruv Tara (The Dhruv Star), knowing or unknowingly set Dhruv on the path of stardom.
Education
Dhruv completed his schooling in South Mumbai from the prestigious Cathedral and John Connon School. He was part of Savage House (Green) and was made House Captain.
Dhruv was always an Honours Student, he took a keen interest in English and Hindi Literature, and was part of an Advanced Program in Psychology and United States History In his final years Dhruv read the curriculum of Humanities which included Sociology, Psychology and Economics as well.
During school life, actively involved in cultural activities such as Elocution: Hindi and English,
Debates Hindi and English (Numerous Awards won), Drama: Hindi and English (Hindi Dramatics award for Best Actor awarded to him by judging Panel comprising Ms. Richa Chaddha (Actor in Bollywood) and Ms. Seher Latif (link) (Renowned casting director in Bollywood, Dhruv Verma played a ruthless and power hungry Politician) Other performances for which he received accolades are when he played a high functioning sociopath in an English Drama play and when he played “The Blue Bird” a character from Salman Rushdie’s novel: Haroun and the Sea of Stories.
Creative Writing- Dhruv was the winner of the Jehangir Patel Essay competition all over Mumbai and was selected amongst few to write for the Commonwealth Essay competition.
For his numerous achievements for his house, he was made the House Captain and led the house to the closest ever it had been in 12 years to achieving the annual House cup trophy. His article speaks of all the achievements under his leadership.
Dhruv Actively undertook social work. Dhruv was made the Vice President of the Interact Club which handled all the social work of the school. He used to teach underprivileged children, and also Helped build organic, ecofriendly constructions in the Govardhan Eco Village run by Iskon. Other social work includes active participation for the organization: Welfare for Stray Dogs.
Dhruv Graduated with a specialization in Business Management and Marketing from H.R College of Commerce and Economics. In college too, Dhruv displayed Active Participation in Cultural activities in college time as well, part of the cultural council and participated in Pan India recognisable Cultural Festivals such as Malhar by Xaviers College, Kaleidoscope by Sophia’s college, WAVES by BITS Pilani Goa and many more.
Career
Dhruv will make his acting debut in 2021 as a Lead Actor with Vikash Verma’s innocent teen love story, No Means No (Nie Means Nie)[3], The first Indo-Polish feature film project between the two countries.
Dhruv has been cast in the lead role in the movie "No Means No (Nie Means Nie)[4], with Gulshan Grover, (a legend who has acted in more than 450 films), Anna Guzik from Poland, Sharad Kapoor, Deep Raj Rana, Nazia Hussain(Sanjay Dutt’s niece) Milind Joshi, and Rama with director of photography, Michal Szewczuk. The tango sequence in No Means No is choreographed by none other than - Shiamak Davar, who has previously worked on Mission Impossible, and Michal Stasica from Poland. Dhruv quickly became the heart throb of Poland. The Polish fans were smitten by his innocent looks & killer instincts in the nail biting action flick.
Dhruv’s next film - The Good Maharaja - A World War II story is already on the floors.
