Rho Delta Chi (ΡΔΧ) (also known as "Rhos"), is an Asian-interest, but not Asian exclusive, sorority founded at the University of California, Riverside on January 17, 1991. Rho Delta Chi focuses on 4 main pillars which include: Sisterhood, Service, Scholastics, and Social. It is a rapidly expanding multicultural sorority that has expanded to over 6 chapters in the U.S.[1]

History

Rho Delta Chi was established on January 17, 1991 as the first Asian American sorority at the University of California, Riverside. The sorority was formed by fourteen women to unitefemales of different backgrounds through the bonds of sisterhood and to provide services in the best interests of the community as well as the university. Our founding mothers of the alpha chapter chose the letters ΡΔΧ in hopes of bringing harmony among all ethnicities.

Through sisterhood, Rho Delta Chi hopes to nurture personal growth and self esteem as well as provide an environment for social interaction. Every chapter for our sorority offers scholarships and study guides which aid in academic achievement. Older sisters are always there to guide and help new members adjust to college life. From tutoring to just having a friend to hang out with, we have a sisterhood that creates a bond that lasts a lifetime. Through our philanthropy and other related activities, we hope to increase Asian awareness and to assist communities in need. Our national philanthropy includes the American Lung Association. We partner up with them every semester in order to help raise funds and educate others on various lung diseases. We host events such as fundraisers, formals, socials, and retreats in order to gain more knowledge about our community. Rho Delta Chi helps balance all these interests to give our members a more rich and rewarding experience throughout their college career and beyond.

Letters

The founding mothers of the alpha chapter chose the Greek letters ΡΔΧ in hopes of bringing harmony among all ethnicities. This also represents the symbolic representation of PAX which means "peace" in Latin.

Rho Chant

Sorority chants are used at meetings, social events, public events, and step shows. Different sororities and fraternities create chants as a response to their organizations being called in a roll call of attending sorority and fraternity events. The national Rho Chant is as follows:

Who are we?

Rho D.

D. What?

Delta Chi

One-Nine

Nine-One

Rise Together
Rhos Forever.

This sorority chant was drafted at the 2012 Rho Delta Chi National Convention through the collaboration of the Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Epsilon chapter. Although the national Rho Chant is used by every chapter, shorter variations may exist among individual chapters

Philanthropy

In the year of 2016, Rho Delta Chi established a national philanthropy. Rho Delta Chi's national philanthropy is partnered with the American Lung Association (ALA). The American Lung Association is a voluntary health organization whose mission is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through education, advocacy, and research. The sisters of Rho Delta Chi help promote The American Lung Association throughout campus and the local community by spreading awareness about various lung diseases such as lung cancer, asthma, COPD, and Influenza to students on campus and the community. Rho Delta Chi also actively participates in fundraisers every semester to help donate funds for the American Lung Association.

Chapters

Rho Delta Chi currently has six chapters and only one colony.
