Before Eurovision
Beosong 2013
Beosong 2013 was the national final organised by RTS in order to select the Serbian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. The selection featured a semi-final and a final held on 2 and 3 March 2013, respectively.[4] Both shows, hosted by Maja Nikolić with backstage interviews conducted by Gorica Nešović and Dragan Ilić, aired on RTS1 as well as online at rts.rs and the official Eurovision Song Contest website eurovision.tv.[5]
Competing entries
Artists and songwriters were able to submit their entries between 1 December 2012 and 20 January 2013. Songwriters of any nationality were allowed to submit entries, but songs were required to be performed by Serb citizens and in one of the official languages of the Republic of Serbia.[4][6] At the closing of the deadline, 171 submissions were received by RTS.[7] A selection committee reviewed the submissions and selected fifteen entries for the national final. The titles of the selected entries were announced on 31 January 2013, while the artists were announced on 6 February 2013.[8][9] The selection committee consisted of Biljana Krstić (musical editor in Radio Belgrade), Momčilo Bajagić (musician and composer), Vladimir Maričić (composer and pianist), Dragoslav Stanisavljević (editor in chief for jazz section in RTS musical production) and Dobroslav Predić (editor in musical section of RTS).[8]
Semi-final
Fifteen songs competed during the semi-final at the studios of RTS in Belgrade on 2 March 2013.[5][10] The five qualifiers were decided exclusively by the Serbian public via SMS voting.[11]
