Why is a claim removed?

Everyone knows that on November 10, 1790, the day prior to Deepawali, Tipu Sultan Massacred around 1000 Mandayam Iyengars of this town. Since then to mourn for the killed innocent Brahmins,, the Iyengars do not celebrate Deepawali.

Why is this fact removed from the article? And the added nuisance of the caste system of India is not limited to this particular place, it was an omnipresent nuisance.

(1). @Dineshjk: it was removed as it was an unsourced claim. You will need to provide reliable source to back up your claims. Saying "Everyone knows" is not enough to add content on Wikipedia. See WP:Verifiability.
(2). That bit about caste is relevant to clarify to the reader why this place is the primely inhabited by the Mandyam Iyengar community. This information is sourced to the book that is freely available on Archive.org. You are free to read the book and check the authenticity of the claims. (2). So you added a bit abt the caste that Brahmins hated Shudras to justify why only Brahmins lived in the place. Do you realize the damage your speculation or plan to divide people has caused??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anindian2020 (talkcontribs) 18:17, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(2) Requesting you to delete that statement which by your own admission is idle speculation! Brahmins & Shudras still exist & since your comment is biased, please remove it as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons_dos_and_don%27ts — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anindian2020 (talkcontribs) 18:28, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is not something that I made up on my own. That sourced fact. Please read the Page 83 of this book from where the content is sourced from.
Buchanan, Francis. "A journey from Madras through the countries of Mysore, Canara, and Malabar". archive.org.
where did I admit that it is idle speculation? It is not idle speculation but a sourced fact. Melukote is not a living person, it is a small town. I dont know why you are quoting "Biographies_of_living_persons" in an article about a town. I have read it but I dont see how it is applicable here. WP:Verifiability is applicable. Please read it.Walrus Ji (talk) 18:45, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the source and there is no mention of Shudras in the source! So I don't understand the source of your comment that Brahmins hate Shudras. Secondly people from Brahmin & Shudra community live even today. So there must be some rules about writing on communities that still exist. You are adding a very divisive comment of Brahmins hating Shudras & the reason given by you was to justify why the place had only Brahmins settled there. I don't think a justification as such is required here. And I clearly see your bias & non-neutral approach that you are adamant about retaining the comment that 'Brahmins hate Shudras'. Never knew that Wikipedia is a biased place - a site so biased specifically against Hindus!
