Trivia
- Filming for the movie began in April 2006.
- The film is based on the true story of Gustave, a 2,000 pound (907 kilograms), 6-meter-long crocodile in Lake Tanganyika, Burundi. See this BBC world news article.
- Television ads for Primeval have Gustave dubbed a "serial killer" and compared to Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer with his non-human status never mentioned except for a brief line where the narrator says, "He's real, but he's not human." A shortened version of this trailer also airs where the line is not spoken at all.
- In the trailer of the film, mention is made of a "serial killer" who has claimed more than 300 victims and "remains at large."
- The film's website also rarely makes any notion that he is in fact a crocodile. The idea behind the misleading trailers and website is to use a scare tactic to get more viewers to see the movie.
