Mbaise is located in Imo State in Southern Nigeria. Set in the heart of Igboland, it is gradually developing into towns and cities. The Mbaise slogan is Seat of the Sages. The name "Mbaise" was derived from the original five communities namely: Agbaaja, Oke Uvuru, Ezi na Ifite, Ahiara, Ekwereazu in the agreed order of seniority.

There is a popular saying in Igboland that if you see a snake and an Mbaise man. You are safer killing the Mbaise man because the snake is less dangerous
