Jordan Schur is co-chairman and CEO of the film production company Mimran Schur Pictures. He is also the former President of Geffen Records and the founder of Flip Records and Suretone Records.[1]

Early Career

In 1999, the 35 year-old Schur took over as President of Geffen Records, at the time making him the youngest label head in the music industry, quickly relaunching the label to great success. In 2003, Schur became as well the President of MCA records, and shortly after as well oversaw the acquisition of DreamWorks Records, with both respected, established companies absorbed into the newly comprised Geffen Records label. Under Schur’s oversight during his tenure, the newly relaunched Geffen Label drove over $2B in revenue for the Universal Music Group. Geffen artists at that time included Beck, Blink-182, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, Nirvana, Guns And Roses, Peter Gabriel, Mary J. Blige, Weezer, The Roots, Counting Crows, Nelly Furtado, among others.

Career

In 2006, Schur departed Geffen Records and established Suretone Records, a joint venture with Interscope Records.[2] He also established SJS Management. Artists such as The Cure, Limp Bizkit and Shwayze joined the Suretone label. He launched the MTV reality series Buzzin' that highlighted the rise of Suretone artist Shwayze.[3] This landed the artist the #1 album slot on the iTunes album chart and #5 album slot on Billboard.

In 2009, Schur and longtime friend David Mimran partnered to form the film production company Mimran Schur Pictures. Their first film was Stone, a psychological drama starring Robert De Niro and Edward Norton, followed by Henry's Crime, a deadpan caper film starring Keanu Reeves, Vera Farmiga and James Caan. Both films premiered at Toronto.[4] In 2011, Mimran Schur Pictures partnered with Lionsgate to release the action drama Warrior starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton and Nick Nolte. Notably, Nick Nolte went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Warrior. Other Mimran Schur Pictures projects include Pawn Shop Chronicles, starring Paul Walker, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Elijah Wood, and Five Against a Bullet, starring Jackie Chan and co-financed with Sony Pictures. In 2017 Mimran Schur Picture invested over $10 million in co-financing the box office flops Holmes and Watson and Bloodshot. [5]

In 2013, Schur partnered with music manager powerhouse, Carl Stubner, to form Suretone Entertainment, a multifaceted company composed of Suretone Records and Suretone Pictures. Suretone's artists roster includes names such as Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top, India.Arie, Puddle of Mudd and Filter.[6]

Among his other ventures, Jordan Schur is a majority partner in Jordan Realty with real estate holdings in Manhattan. He is a principal partner in a New York-based document retention company, Cityside Archives, with his father, Joel Schur.

He produced the film The Kid for Lionsgate Films.[7]
