Jeremy Reece Bischoff (born January 16, 2002) is an American men's artistic gymnast. He is a Senior National Team Member of the US Gymnastics National Team and competes in collegiate gymnastics as an all-arounder for the Stanford University Men's Gymnastics Team. He was a member of the fourth-placing team at the 2023 DTP Pokal Mixed Cup in Stuttgart, Germany.[1] He finished seventh place all-around at the 2024 U.S. Winter Cup in Louisville, Kentucky with a combined score of 163.00, also securing the silver medal on horizontal bar.[2] He finished in sixth place all-around at the 2023 U.S. Classic with an 80.150. He won gold for the parallel bars title and silver in the all-around at the 2018 Men's Junior Olympic National Championships in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the California State All-Around Champion in 2019. [3]
Early life and education
Jeremy Bischoff was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California to Mia and David Bischoff. He has one sibling, Kiona. He attended Learning Post Academy, graduating in 2020. As a student-athlete at Stanford University, Bischoff is majoring in Computer Science.[4]
Gymnastics career
2018
Individually, Bischoff placed first for the parallel bars title and placed second all-around at the 2018 Men's Junior Olympic National Championships in Oklahoma City, OK. He then helped his team to earn bronze at 2018 J.O. Nationals.[5]
2019
Bischoff placed as regional and state all-around champion, and placed top-ten in five out of the six apparatuses in the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, MO, leading to a solid 4th-place finish in the all-around. He placed third in floor, fifth in horizontal bar, seventh in pommel horse, and eighth in still rings and parallel bars. His success at the U.S. Championships led his selection to be a USA Junior National Team member (2019–20)[6]
2020-2021
Bischoff competed in the junior division at 2020 Winter Cup Challenge and led team to a third-place finish at the 2020 Elite Team Cup in Las Vegas, NV. He then committed to and began competing for the Stanford University's Men's Gymnastics Team, where he competed in three meets for the 2020–2021 season and helped defend Stanford's team title as 2021 NCAA Team Champions.[3]
2022
Bischoff managed a 13.850 on floor and 13.250 on pommel horse at the Pac-12 Invite, and registered a 14.450 on parallel bars at California as his career best,[7] contributing once again to his team's recognition as 2022 NCAA and MPSF Team Champions. For his senior international debut on the USA Men's Senior Development Team alongside teammate Taylor Burkhart, Bischoff also competed at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Varna, Bulgaria on May 25, 2022, taking on all events but vault.[8]
2023
Bischoff won his lone event title on the horizontal bar at the Cal Benefit Cup with a 14.000 and performed a season-best 14.400 on parallel bars at Rocky Mountain Open. He then finished the season ranked seventh in the nation on parallel bars (14.100) and 25th on floor (13.638), again leading Stanford to defend their national title as 2023 NCAA and MPSF champions.[3]
In March, Bischoff represented the United States at the DTB Pokal Mixed Cup in Stuttgart, Germany, alongside Senior Men Landon Blixt and Isaiah Drake, leading his team to a fourth-place finish.[9]
In August, Bischoff competed at the 2023 Core Hydration Classic as an all-arounder and placed sixth overall.[1]
A few weeks later, Bischoff competed at the 2023 Xfinity National Championships where he secured his spot on the USA Senior National Team.[10]
2024
Bischoff started the year strong at the 2024 Winter Cup competition from February 23–25, 2024,[11] and re-secured his spot on the Senior National Team. He placed 7th in the All-Around [12] with a 163.000[13] and was crowned horizontal bar Silver Medalist, right behind Curran Phillips.[14]
Bischoff competed at the 2024 MPSF Championships on April 6, 2024, where he helped Stanford place first as a team, competing on floor and horizontal bar and placing second with a 14.35 and third with a 13.75 respectively.[15]
At the 2024 NCAA Championships in Columbus, OH, Bischoff competed on floor and horizontal bar once more, placing eighth on floor and being named a 2024 NCAA All-American,[16] helping secure Stanford's historic 5-peat NCAA championship title.[17]
At the 2024 U.S. Xfinity Championships, 34 selected senior athletes competed for a coveted spot for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.[18] With a 5th-place finish on horizontal bar[19] and 12th place in the All-Around, Bischoff retained his spot on the Senior National Team once more and punched his ticket to compete at the 2024 Olympic Trials in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[20]
Personal Life
Bischoff is in a relationship with fellow Stanford student-athlete Angeline Yu, who competes for the Stanford Equestrian Team.[21] The pair have been together since May of 2023.[22]
Recently, Bischoff dabbled in some dancing, as shown in his feature as one of Stephen Nedoroscik's teammates in the finale of Dancing with the Stars with pro dancer Rylee Arnold.[23] Their freestyle performance to Viva la Vida by Coldplay instantly became a fan-favorite among viewers, and earned Nedoroscik and Arnold their first perfect score of the season.[24]
