Location and notes columns

These columns are presently entirely empty and should probably be removed or put to use. Do people feel that longitude/latitude co-ordinates (which could be auto-linked to maps) are possible and non-misleading (i.e. not overly precise to a fixed point) for these areas? Or would a concise textual description, perhaps just compass points and distances relative to the city centre, be better? Or even reference to boundary roads/features, if these can be established? – Kieran T (talk) 01:29, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was puzzled by these empty columns. I think the location should be a simple coordinate (with Template:Coord) or grid reference (with Template:Gbmapping). Anything else might get complicated and controversial — some of these areas probably have no formally defined boundaries (where exactly is "West End", for example?). I think I would remove the "Notes" column unless anyone can come up with a good (i.e. well-defined) purpose for it. --Deskford (talk) 09:36, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've put in the location data for the first two entries with articles, which already highlights that the first article locates Altens with woeful inaccuracy. But it's a start. Does anyone know if there's already an equivalent of the coords geohack template for OS references? – Kieran T (talk) 11:08, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've added the first few grid references.... --Deskford (talk) 12:14, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
