On Banhammer

2009-11-03 -- the banhammer is an actual, physical object that has become part of popular culture. as such it belongs on wikipedia as its own article, not as a simple redirect to obscure references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.130.93.59 (talk) 14:57, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Um I don't understand why this page was redirected but not merged. The problem with this redirect is that the previous info on this page wasn't even moved to that page, so it became a bit "unmentioned". I don't think this should be a redirect since it's become a popular term. Here is the recent documentation of this term: [1] And here is the Google Insights for this term: [2]. And this site is a redirect for those who were banned by admins/mods with "banhammers" (ban powers): [3] This is fairly recent so I understand why it was redirected, but it's become more common. - M0rphzone (talk) 01:53, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

actual banhammer

RE: The banhammer was actualized into a physical object in 2009.<ref>Thompson, Chris, [http://www.boingboing.net/2009/11/01/3d-printed-ban-hamme.html "3D printed ban-hammer"], Boing Boing, URL retrieved [[2009]]-[[10-02]].</ref>

Boing boing is not a news source. this is just something that someone invented. Igottheconch (talk) 18:59, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Origin as I know it

I seem to remember a WarCraft III tool that did IP bans that used Uther, who wielded a hammer as its icon. It was used in competitive play, so the banhammer quickly proliferated there. I'm a wiki n00b so whatever. 86.154.179.234 (talk) 11:36, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hammer reference

Isn't the use of the hammer as an icon based on the Juidicial Gavel? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavel 87.103.15.104 (talk) 09:21, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
