I am reading a book in which Doenitz states that Rogge was Jewish. Does anyone know how he came up with this absurd claim?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.44.4.251 (talk) 23:33, 31 December 2004 (UTC)
His grandfather - I don't know which one - was a Jew. Under Judaic law, this did not make Rogge a Jew, as you are a Jew only if your mother is a Jew. However under the German Racial Purity laws, hoe could be considered to be Jewish, so he was required to apply for a certificate stating he was not.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.64.112.236 (talk) 03:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

His Grandfather on his Mothers side was Jewish thus making her Jewish at birth. As she married out of her family's faith, she was not classed as Jewish - something which protected Bernhard throughout his Naval career. As a direct decendant I know this to be true. Jewish
There is only one author Bryan Mark Rigg with his book Hitler's Jewish Soldiers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.158.234.203 (talk) 18:35, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
"Racial Jews"
Under Nazi race lawa a person with one or more Jewish grandparents was a "racial Jew" even if the Jewish grandparent had converted to Christianity and the other three grandparents had been born Christian, the person's parents were both born Christian, that the person was not married to a Jewish person, and the person was not a member of the Jewish religious/social community. 2603:800C:3A40:6400:290C:94BE:B44A:F30 (talk) 03:15, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
"Racial Jews" - Part II
Research shows that many "Racial Jews" were classified as "Aryan" if someone in the government considered them to be value to the (Nazi) German nation, and that many "racial Jews" fought and died for Germany. As Hermann Göring famously said regarding Erhard Milch, a "racial Jew" under German law who ended the war as a Luftwaffe Generalfeldmarschall, "I decide who is a Jew." 05:23, 5 December 2024 (UTC) 2603:800C:3A00:59B5:C312:CA6B:182B:406F (talk) 05:23, 5 December 2024 (UTC)
