Were there any 4 car units?

Living at the time in Crossens, I spent much of my childhood travelling on these units, both going to Southport (prior to 1964) and then on to Liverpool. My memory may be playing tricks, but I'm pretty sure I used to see some 4 car units with two power cars and two intermediate trailers. Does my memory fail me on this?

I also remember long extra trains of class 502 units bringing Orange men from Liverpool for their annual celebrations. This was before "the troubles" so none of us understood the signifiance. From memory these were 12 car trains coming from Liverpool to Southport. Soarhead77 (talk) 09:48, 25 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thinking about this further 4 car sets could have been been formed with 2 of the 2 car sets - two motor cars one at each end with two trailers interposed between them. Soarhead77 (talk) 13:12, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
