Neutrality of the Article

I just removed propaganda "rose from humble beginnings". This is not objective, this is as if someone from the police department wrote it. I think the facts should be formulated first, in a neutral way, without stuff like "unwed mother" - why is it important or relevant that she was married or not at the birth of a child? The article insinuated that she had a hard upbringing, but so did many others without people having had a need to formulate it in quite this way at all. I have a neutral opinion about this person and I want the wikipedia article to be neutral too, not positive or negative. 84.112.136.52 (talk) 09:58, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There Are an Estimated 1,000,000 Illegal Immigrants in D.C. and the Metro Area

What good does it do to have a police chief with a M.A. in anti-terrorism when the District is jammed with illegal immigrants and the entire Metro area is a sanctuary for illegal immigrants?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.147.202 (talkcontribs) 22:35, 27 June 2008

A tag has been placed on Cathy L. Lanier, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Ekantik (talkcontribs) 18:48, 20 November 2006

Is somebody too quick on the trigger

The speedy delete was inserted onto this page while I was still creating the initial version! She is to become the first woman police cheif for Washington DC. I note that her predecessor Charles H. Ramsey has a page. Where's the consistency? -- 18:54, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

I have removed the speedy delete tag as this article does not meet speedy delete status since the article states very clearly why she is notable. If anyone disagrees with her notability feel free to attempt an afd. - Ektar 19:12, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for leaving a message on my talk page. As I said there, Newpage Patrollers are often very fast and I nominated this article for deletion based on a speed-read. I apologize for that and I think this is a great improvement. Obviously needs a bit of work but fantastic improvement nevertheless. Ekantik 01:18, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

additional ref

I don't know if this ref warrants inclusion, so I'll mention it here, for others to decide: Baldacci, David (August 3, 2009) "New Ways to Stop Crime," Parade, pp. 8 & 10. This is a sensible bio-op on Ms. Lanier written in the weekly newpaper insert in its series "Reinventing America." Kdammers (talk) 06:23, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gun Control

What's her stance on gun control? --41.151.61.54 (talk) 10:21, 22 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cathy L. LanierCathy Lanier – I am seeing no pattern of real-world usage that particularly justifies the inclusion of the middle initial "L" in the title. Sources seem more likely to just say "Cathy Lanier", which already redirects here. BD2412 T 14:53, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
