Mobile vs. General

This page is too specific to mobile devices. I suggest we move most of the mobile content into an entry for "Mobile Device Management" and keep this page general to all devices (e.g. networking devices, set-top boxes, etc.) 147.11.17.201 (talk) 17:36, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Device Management and Management Authorities

Device management (DM) solutions are deployed by and managed by "Management authorities", such as an operator or an enterprise. In theory, multiple management authorities can manage a device. However, current standards in DM do not adequately support multiple management authorities. The next generation of DM standards are likely to address that (in the 2009-2010 period). The latest version of DM standards from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) is 1.2. A 2.0 version is not likely to be released until 2009.
