Quick note, Croatia is NOT a "Eastern European" country. It's not any more east than Germany.71.82.132.97 (talk) 07:53, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And uh, later it says that Ilyria is actually Hungary. Hungary, Croatia, what's the difference, right? Honestly, when I read the play some years ago I thought the basis was Ukraine and that it was a parallel or a rip off of Bulgakov's White Guard (though not sure if Sartre had access to it by the time he wrote it). How about unless reliable sources can be found, we leave real life countries out of it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.82.132.97 (talk) 08:06, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the above comment. First Croatia, then Hungary. Neither of these seems to be a very likely candidate, and I don't believe that Sartre wished us to make an association with a particular country -- he chose the name Illyria to illustrate that it is a tragic and comic land which is probably now extinct. Look up the name Illyria for a discussion of this. If there are no objections within a couple of weeks I'll remove the references to Croatia and Hungary. The name Illyria should be linked to Illyria and left at that. ---- Richaraj (talk) 17:47, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Legacy

I saw this play performed under the title Dirty Hands at the Gallery Theatre in Hollywood in September 1971. The director was Ted Roster. Does anybody know any more details of this production? I have looked up 'Gallery Theatre' today, and the nearest fit I have found is the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre, in the Barnsdall Art Park north of Sunset.Brymor (talk) 19:44, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
