@Violetriga: Wow, thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and resurrected my Draft:Bust of Cristiano Ronaldo, if you care to help update. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:31, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Busts of Cristiano Ronaldo

If you're wondering why this article has so much information about the 2 busts of Cristiano Ronaldo, you can start digging here (or, more specifically, here). And, if we're ever to have a standalone article for Bust of Cristiano Ronaldo/Busts of Cristiano Ronaldo, we might start here. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:36, 8 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Update

@Verbcatcher: Thanks for updating re: first bust removal. Did you mean to include this URL in the citation? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:36, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And I'm curious, do you still support a standalone article about the busts? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:38, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer: I added the additional source because the first source does not appear to say that Santos's sculpture has been removed. My preference is to have a standalone article on the first bust that would incorporate the material on Santos and his other works. I have last found a citable article by an art critic.[1] I am planning to add a quote from this. Verbcatcher (talk) 16:53, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Verbcatcher: What I meant is that current reference #12 does not link readers to an article. Does the above URL help? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:58, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer: I neglected to add the URL. Thanks. Verbcatcher (talk) 17:12, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, just wanted to make sure that was the correct one. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:46, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding a standalone article, I think there's enough content to support separate articles for Santos and the busts. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:47, 17 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of bust from airport

Purijj and I disagree about the placement of a paragraph on the removal of Santos's first bust from the airport. Purijj initially added a paragraph at the end of the 'Second bust' section. I moved the paragraph to earlier in the article, in the 'Busts of Cristiano Ronaldo' section, Purijj then reinstated it in the later position, leaving it in the first position.

We only need this paragraph once. It concerns the removal of the first bust, so it is odd to place it in the 'Second bust' section. However, this reflects my preference for articles to be organised in sections. Purijj may be reading the article as a continuous narrative, in which mentioning the removal at the end makes sense. The structure of the article is confusing, probably resulting from it origin as an article on the first Ronaldo bust.

Another issue is the exact date for the removal of the bust from the airport. Purijj favours '13 June 2018' and I prefer 'June 2018'. We do not have a source for the 13th. The cited source says

  • Segundo o que o DIÁRIO conseguiu apurar, o novo busto do melhor jogador do mundo foi colocado na madrugada de quinta para sexta-feira.

Google translates this as:

  • According to what the DAILY has been able to ascertain, the new bust of the best player in the world was placed at dawn from Thursday to Friday.

I don't speak Portuguese, but I know a little Spanish and French and this translation appears to be credible. 'dawn from Thursday to Friday' means on the morning of 15 June 2018.

However, we do not need the exact date. In a few years the exact date will be of no importance. In general, exact dates are only needed to clarify the delay between related events, or if an anniversary is celebrated, or for dates of birth and death. Verbcatcher (talk) 14:26, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Purijj (talk) 19:45, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go again...

Another round of press coverage re: Ronaldo busts:

Can we create a separate article for the sculptures yet? ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:15, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder how many of them have read our article – we may have provided the link to Eddy Frankel's article. This is sufficient evidence to reopen a notability discussion, but I suspect it will not convince all those who oppose an article on the sculpture(s). I suggest leaving it for a few days as more news reports may appear. Verbcatcher (talk) 03:17, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Verbcatcher: Sounds good. Would you be comfortable starting a fork or notability discussion? I feel like I'm just going to get another lecture if I try to initiate another discussion. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:46, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I still think there should be a standalone article about the busts of Ronaldo. There's so much press coverage and related text occupies much of this parent article... ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:36, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
