Proposal for new section

As part of my Hollywood Stars course, I am proposing adding a new section to Gina Rodriguez' page about her charity and philanthropy work. So far, I have identified four major charity works/events Gina has participated in/is hoping to participate in. I've sought out the following sources for the new section I am proposing.

Here is an outline for the specific charity works/events that Gina Rodriguez is/will be involved in, with the proper citations for each.

New Section Proposal - Proposed Title: Philanthropy and Charity Efforts

I. Intro

a. With her rising star image and power, Rodriguez has been increasingly involved with charities and philanthropic efforts; among these are partnerships with CustomInk to end bullying and her future plans to found an education charity with her sisters.

II. CustomInk's "Be Good To Each Other" Campaign

a. Gina Rodriguez designed a “celebri-tee” to be sold to raise funds for Custom Ink’s “Be Good to Each Other” campaign in support of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. She is quoted as saying that her parents always taught her “the power of thinking positively and treating others with respect.”Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

b. Took a stand for kindness and tolerance by designing a shirt, whose proceeds would benefit PACER[1]

c. Design says “Kindness is always in Style” in cursive print [2]

III. Board of Directors for The Hispanic Scholarship Fund

a. On March 16, 2015, it was announced that Gina Rodriguez joined the HSF’s Board of Directors, and is quoted as saying that joining the Board of Directors is a way of her giving back, as she was a recipient of an HSF scholarship.[3]

b. The HSF’s Board of Directors’ purpose is to “support the organization in a unique and significant way, ensuring that the mission continues to uphold the initial values and commitment to education”.[4]

IV. Co-Founder of Naja Lingerie

a. In early October 2015, Gina was announced as co-founder and partner of Naja, a lingerie line committed to empowering its workers and customers. [5]

b. Related to what Gina describes as the difficulty she had “finding her inner confidence.”[6]

c. Naja is also dedicated to environmentally conscious production, providing its workers with flexible hours, and health benefits.[7]

V. Future plans for charity work

a. Goal is for charity she plans to start with her two sisters to “help with education and contribute to ending” childhood hunger[8]

b. Hopes the international success of Jane the Virgin and star image will help her efforts[9]

c. Working on an “empowering book for youth” called I Can and I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me, set to be published in 2016. [10]

Please let me know if any of you have any suggestions, comments, or concerns about the proposed section and sources.

Thank you!

  • This part can show us all the charity efforts that she made. It is really need to add it on her page. However, I see that there is not too much information about her personal life. I think you also can add some information about her personal life. Thisislily (talk) 04:32, 7 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The information you want to add would definitely add substance to the article, and the sources you've proposed look legitimate. I would suggest categorizing the actor's Early Years under Personal Life, because the two topics seem so similar. I understand that your primary focus is the actor's charity, but more detail on her general life would make the article more balanced.

  • Thank you both for your feedback! I am glad to see that fellow Wikipedians are able to see a need for the topic I am proposing as well. As far as adding to actress Gina Rodriguez's article's section about her personal life, I will have to look into finding legitimate sources for being able to do so. Thank you once again for your feed back Sdowd14 and Thisislily!

I think an important aspect of her charity work is the reason why she does it. You have a really great outline and do a good job of identifying what you are going to talk about. I would suggest adding the personal aspect of her charity work for example what inspired her to do it? I think in order to accomplish this you have to look more into her personal life. Also I see in her page that she has had many roles, and maybe some of these have inspired her more than others to do charity work. other than that good job! • Montse03, thank you for your feedback! I could see how including information as to why she takes on these philanthropic efforts will add substance to my contribution, and will take this into account when adding the information. Thank you!

You need to give a reliable-source citation for that. The cited source in the article indicates 1984. --Tenebrae (talk)

– The TV/mainstream actress is clearly the most likely to be searched for, and should be the primary topic. The porn performer / "talent" manager is marginally notable, far less likely to be searched for, and should not be the primary topic. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by administrators since 2006. (talk) 14:18, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Author

Gina has written a book (I Bite Into the Apple) and is writing another one (I Can and I Will: Tools My Daddy Gave Me), so I think maybe a section should be added to the article about it? --Annoyedhumanoid (talk) 20:14, 24 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

actor, author, DIRECTOR

Citing Variety, the Charmed reboot article says Gina Rodriguez will direct the eleventh episode of the season. Should that go under Gina Rodriguez#Television or not yet because Wikipedia is not a crystal ball?
