KOBE KOBE KOBE. Jewish is a race, it is a religion. His mother is a Persian Jew
Do you have any sources? A Google search of "Jordan Farmar Persian" or "Melinda Farmar Persian" will come up with nothing reliable and I haven't read one article about Farmar's background discussing any Persian roots. --Freepablo 20:26, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Your source is "nothing reliable" because it has a very obvious Point of View. It is as reliable as the Persian community's claims. Second, Farmar is a distinct Persian names, and the only way to getting a Persian name is to be Persian/married to a Persian. Third, you can be Persian and be a Jew, Cyrus the Great, read up on your Persian/Jewish history if you are a Jew. Fourth, all Persians know all their "all-stars", including Andre Agassi, there must have been some reason to think/know he is Persian

- BTW, Yehuda means Jew in Persian
- It would be helpful if you could cite a source for Farmar's Persian heritage (see WP:V). Also, note that the name Farmar comes from his father, not his mother. Udzu
- This is a fascinating discussion but there is little to discuss. All needs be done is to present sources. I can present follow interviews with Farmar[1][2] (you can claim interviews are POV or unreliable sources all you want, but you see how little effect that would have). Of course, "Jewish" is an ethnicity and this is clearly the ethnicity of his mother. Whether she is from Iran or not, I don't know. If you wanted to include that in the article, you would need a reliable source that states so, not "everyone knows", etc. But this is so obvious there's no point in stating it. "Even though i do not agree with you, I will defend to the death your right to say it."-Voltaire
Your argument has merit and I meant Iranian descent but I dislike the racist term Iran. Please see Iran naming dispute
Thank you for your commitment to Wikipedia--Yasha I 05:13, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, I'm not to partial to the "Black Jew" label. The man shows no signs of negroid admixture, latent or otherwise, let alone actually being anywhere close to black.
jewish is mainly a race, not a religion only, and that's why you don't find any indication to his persian roots, because it doesn't mean much to anybody except other jews, which use it for community identification. so not only it's not relevant here, but it will also be a mistake to write he is persian. b.t.w, black jew is a nickname for jews that comes from islamic countries (because jew there have darker skin then other jews, actually browen)
New Jersey Nets
Rich Bucher of ESPN has confirmed that Farmar has agreed to a 3 year 12 million dollar contract with the New Jersey Nets.
