Will Smith did not go here for more than one year, i have to keep removing his name from the alumni list. I go to this school, and I know Will Smith was not an alumni (although it is sometimes thought so even by other students). Don't believe me? go here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000226/bio. He graduated from Overbrook High School, he was somehow involved with Masterman according to that page, but he's not what I would consider an alumni (maybe he went to Masterman for middle school? its a high school and middle school combined). So yeah, Smith graduated from Overbrook and had some ties with Masterman but he didnt graduate from there. Interestingly enough, however, the Philly part of the Fresh Prince theme song (the basketball courts) was shot only about a block or two away from Masterman at a park. --insertwackynamehere 16:54, 29 January 2006 (UTC) note: he went here in seventh grade.
Will Smith
Will Smith should be counted as an alumni. He went to Masterman for middle school. Yes, he went to Overbrook for High School, but the only way to get to High School is to graduate middle school. If he graduated middle school, and he went to Masterman to middle school, he must have graduated from Masterman. Graduating makes you an alumni. JesseRafe 02:50, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- perhaps but when people think of alumni, they think of High School and College. And I dont recall our school getting money from him ever :P i'll look into it though, I'm not even fully sure he went for middle school (I've heard it was just remedial school POSSIBLY not sure on that). I do go to the school after all, why not :P --insertwackynamehere 03:36, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- Masterman does not offer remedial school, if you go there you would know that. Will Smith actually had a full math scholarship to MIT as an option, but instead began his recording career. I don't see what going to the school has to do with anything, what are you going to do, ask Mr. Tancredi? JesseRafe 22:49, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- Heh its Mrs. Tancredi and i thought i heard it was a summer remedial school thing, that took place AT masterman. I dunno, so many stories probably all rumors. And yeah Tancredi wouldnt know but Bravo might possibly and Frangipani would have no clue (he was only there for like a bit over a year). I just remember some discussion on Sconex about it so i dunno --insertwackynamehere 19:08, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
- Although you seem to have worked this all out, as an FYI, to be an alumni one must merely attend a school, not necessarily graduate from it. JCO312 02:40, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Will only went to masterman for seventh grade. My mother remembers him as a student and she was an upperclassmen. My grandfather ,Mr Levinson, also recalled that information before his death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:47:2:1910:6D89:64C9:5993:9C88 (talk) 22:17, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
Dress Code
I made some changes to dress code from 1st hand experience. Unfortuantly no sources exist, however I go to the school and know this for a fact. If anyone needs proof I can create a dummy page on the Masterman website (which im now one of the head admins of.. brag++ ^_^). so yeah.. or it can just be reverted to its less factual, better sourced version --insertwackynamehere 01:30, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- I yanked the section on the dress code and moved the one sourced line to the history section. It doesn't seem notable enough to require its own section anyway, and the stuff that was in there wasn't sourced. JCO312 00:38, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Andrea Garner
As there's no article on her, I'm pretty sure it's not appropriate to add her as a notable alumni. Sort of similar to the list of births on any given day. I'm not even sure that if someone tried to write an article on her that it would survive a nomination for deletion. JCO312 17:57, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
- Now there's an article (stub) on her, but her name is spelled wrong here AND at the actual article page. Not a good sign re: notability. 173.66.151.204 (talk) 19:12, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- If she played professional basketball then she's notable. Her article may be a mess, but that can be fixed. If you know something about her why don't you provide some sources, clean up her article and move it? Meters (talk) 19:40, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- verified spelling of name and attendance at this school here: [1] and moved article. Meters (talk) 19:54, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- undid myself. Garner is a different player than Gardner, but some of the info on Garner had been added to the Gardner article. I'll see if I can dig up enough info to create a stub on Garner. Meters (talk) 20:24, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

4th Grade at Masterman
The article refernces the creation of 5 and 6, then the expansion to later years. However, I attended starting the 4th grade. (circa '72) I know this grade was later eliminated, about the same time the decision to expand to a high school was made, but don't feel I have enough factual info to make an edit.Joe JJC 14:55, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Sexual abuse allegations
I removed the content related to allegations of sexual abuse of girls by a teacher. My reasons are: 1) the reference is a PDF that is housed not at the source (Philadelphia Inquirer) but at the school system's server. I don't believe that a PDF is a good resource as it is subject to editing... in short, it may or may not reflect the actual article published by the Inquirer. 2) The article is about the school, the allegations are about a teacher. The information is not appropriate for an article about the school, in my opinion. Wikipelli Talk 13:25, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
