Ku'mar in Islam means Moon. Its spelt (لقمر) or (قمر ) in Arabic. It is an common Sunni surname and is in the Qu'ran Sura 54 Al-Qamar (54) and also found in Sura 32. It is a prominent surname and found commonly in Turkey for Turkish people. It can also be spelt as (قمر ) pronounced 'Qumar' 'Cumar' [[1]] in arabic, Turkish people spell it (Kumar) [[2]] - (An popular Arab Bellydancer), perhaps an disambiguation would be better. inaccurate intro
The article begins with a bunch of peacock nonsense that the name Kumar is "3rd most common in USA and 2nd most common in America." This obviously makes absolutely zero sense. According to wikipedia itself (and numerous other sources, like the US census bureau) Kumar does not even make the top 10 surnames in the USA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_common_surnames_in_North_America#United_States_.28American.29

The cited reference contains misleading information. It says that Lee is the 188th most common surname in the world, and that it's more common in the US than in China. I think this site must have very selective sourcing. It should be removed as a citation for this article. Wikipedia's own page on the most common surnames overall does not include it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_most_common_surnames

Potential Merge?
I'm not sure which direction this should go in, but this page should be merged with Kumar (name) at some point. Highresheadphones (talk) 05:44, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
