Information

Someone reverted me when I added more info on Nadia Bjorlin. I did that as part of an attempt to make this (and other lists) more than just a list of names, and flesh out a person's Swedish (in this case) background. See List of Catholic American entertainers, which has now gone from a random list of names, some of them incorrect, to something more interesting with added information.

Since this is a relatively short list, I think that kind of a format - name + citation + fuller info on Swedish background - makes the article more interesting and wouldn't take up much space in the long run. MadJack 17:33, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a list of names. There is an article about Nadia Bjorlin where you can add all the details you want.--Ezeu 17:57, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but what is the point in a list of names? If the people are listed because of their Swedish heritage, then why not elaborate on that heritage in a way we can't in an article? Especially since this is a a relatively small list and has more space? Besides, all lists need to be sourced/cited. MadJack 18:01, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, check out List of Dictators. I think the aim of every good list should be to become more meaningful, and look more like an article. MadJack 18:05, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity lists discussion

Please see discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) for current discussion of a potential policy to apply to all ethnicity lists on Wikipedia, including this one. JackO'Lantern 20:34, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some of these people are Swedes. Like Stellan Skarsgård and Peter Stormare. They are Swedish citizens. Please make this list more correct. Burnthewitch 23:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

I have sourced the list in accordance with Wikipedia's Original Research and Verifiability policies. Basically, anyone described by a reliable source as "Swedish" or "Swedish American" (i.e. as opposed to "of Swedish descent", "Swedish mother", etc.) is on the list. Here are the few people I couldn't find anything for. If you have a reliable source that fits that please restore the names:

Actors

Art

Engineers

Models

Music

Politics

Sports

Writers

Other

Måns Andersson

Is this man distinguished in any way other than being an ancestor of the Bush family? If we put all the ancestors of famous people on Wikipedia we would end up with the entire 17th century population of the planet. TMiscia 00:07, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't think that article's subject is notable enough to make an article, that should probobly be discussed on that article's talk page or you can make a nomination at WP:AFD. Personally I definitely think it's notable. /Slarre 21:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Swedes vs. Swedish-Americans

Some of these people, like Stellan Skarsgård and Peter Stormare were born and raised in Sweden and (afaik) aren't US citizens. So they're not Swedish-Americans, they're Swedes. --dllu 18:50, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The same goes for Jussi Björling.

This list needs references

This list should only include second-, third-, fourth- etc generation Americans with verified Swedish ancestry, and first-generation Swedes who were or are (if still living) American citizens. This also should be verified. The fact that people has lived in the US for many years doesn't necessarily mean that they are American citizens - not even if they are married to an American and have children with him/her.

I just had a quick look and found a number of errors: Ingrid Bergman was never an American citizen, Malin Akerman is a Swedish Canadian, Josh Hartnett is said to be of Irish decent in the main article, but there is nothing there indicating that he also has Swedish blood.

I'll remove any obvious errors (such as Ingrid Berman and Malin Akerman) and add a [citation needed] on the rest. Thomas Blomberg (talk) 18:31, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

List is getting ridiculous

Perhaps, some fine day, someone will have the time and zest to go through this list and remove all unsubstantiated entries, and everyone far-fetched, like Julia Roberts with one (one) great-grandparent Swedish. Perhaps. We can only hope. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 10:41, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
