Split

simply seems too long, and still needs expansion. WT79 (speak to me | editing patterns | what I been doing) 18:13, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How about both? TrooperLucky (talk) 19:03, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. Dunutubble (talk) 16:23, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Seems enough, will close the split discussion. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:24, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

split

The proposal to split an article because it is "too long" is a dumbing down exercise. But more than that, it dilutes and diminishes the serious nature of the subject itself. There must be a point of reference for this subject which is both comprehensive and general with references to sources of information and details on the contexts that these crimes occurred in. Hence a separate article detailing Britain's list of post 1945 military operations and genocides in Africa and the Far East requires inclusion in a general list of war crimes and not quietly tucked away within another ("too long") article. 2A02:C7E:1C6E:B400:3DA9:E027:4EFE:6AB0 (talk) 09:14, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganize article (mainly by changing how things are sorted)

I think it would be a good idea to reorganize this article in the following ways:

1. Only put 2 types of things in this article: lists of notable/major war crimes, and summaries of incidents during a specific conflict/time period. This is because it is impossible to list all, or even most, war crimes in a specific area. Instead, users should be directed towards the topic-specific list for a complete list of war crimes (and not just the major ones).

2. Sort this differently. I think the current chronological sorting format is hard to read, so I think it would be better to sort it by general area/general time period instead (eg. group modern-era imperial war crimes together). This pastebin would be an example of such a sorting format. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SentientObject (talkcontribs) 01:05, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of 2023 war in Sudan?

The article makes strenuous effort (the Sudan article) to point out genocide, and ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity. However, I'm unsure of the treatment of sources. It is understood that "genocide" is a label thrown around freely by both sides, however the numbers look fairly egregious. This is not to mention attacking aid workers, looting food meant for the people, &c. Overall, the 2023 war in Sudan article is very good and I just wanted to point out that the war in Darfur was reopened in 2023 and maybe that should be be discussed here, since it is a fairly detailed compilation. 98.109.137.129 (talk) 11:20, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
