fast delete
I had not finished, then I saw "for fast delete" proposed. At that time one sentence was really not good, bad touch into one direction. English is not my native language. But now it should be nearly ok (please correct if not). Loadlin is (still) in many Linux distributions - my Suse 9.1 DVD included unfortunatly the 1.5 Version, not 1.6 Version. --69.141.249.40 04:47, 3 December 2005 (UTC) Dieter

Windows support ?
Which Windows versions are supported ? I doubt it works in NT based versions.

--It requires "real mode" to run so I suspect the latest Windows that it can support is Windows 98. The Wikipedia Windows ME page specifically lists that it broke programs which required "Real Mode", and Windows ME was the next step after 98.

- It is a little bit misleading.
loadlin
requires real-mode DOS, which technically includes the "restart in MS-DOS mode" feature on Windows 95 (i.e. real-mode MS-DOS 7.00), the "restart in MS-DOS mode" feature of Windows 98 (i.e. real-mode MS-DOS 7.10), and the Windows Me startup disk (i.e. real-mode MS-DOS 8.00). It does not actually support Windows. If an actually Windows operating system (including 95, 98, Me) is on, it shows the error tip "You are running under MS-WINDOWS or Windows 95" and stops loading Linux. --Yejianfei (talk) 06:15, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Replacement
recently loadlin has been shown to fail to load big kernel/initrds, when its offspring linld succeds. this is interesting when one wants to install linux (here ubuntu) with no bootable means other than the currently installed windows. linld: http://troglobit.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?LinLd loadlin/linld usage to install notably xubuntu: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=37432 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.221.83.85 (talk) 13:46, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Doesn't work
I think this article should be revised, I download Loadlin, boot into DOS, tried to execute the exe. it says loadlin can't run in Dos... I tried it in Windows 7 x64 and it asks if I want to install loadlin, i say yes, but then it says it can't run there either because it's a 16 bit program or something.
Software is pretty useless these days.
