Industry in the mountains?

Current version: "Originally an industrial area, the nearby mountains are today a popular ski resort." This sentence says that the nearby mountains were originally an industrial area. Is that the intended sense, or is this a misplaced apposition?—Wegesrand (talk) 08:48, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
