Corporate Name

I found no evidence that the company's name had officially changed to MDA or simply MacDonald Dettwiler. The copyright notices on the company's website reads:

Copyright © 1995-2006 MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. All rights reserved.

Meanwhile a search at Corporations Canada shows MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Corporation (explaining www.mdacorporation.com), active and in care of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. -- Robocoder (talk | contribs) 11:02, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My wife works for MDA and tells me that they have "rebranded" themselves as "MDA." It isn't entirely clear whether this is a legal name. "MacDonald Dettwiler and Associates" is still a legal name. Sewebster 07:24, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I say move to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates. Wikada - TALK CONT ISU 22:41, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

For reasons stated above. - TheMightyQuill (talk) 17:43, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at Wikipedia:official names. Although only a draft at this stage I think it fairly summarises existing policy and guidelines.

Many do feel these should change, that's one reason for setting up this draft guideline! For the existing policy of course see Wikipedia:naming conventions.

But as they stand, no justification has yet been provided for this move, and I'm inclined to the view that there isn't any. Andrewa (talk) 20:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your suggestion, then, is that MacDonald Dettwiler is more common than MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates or MDA? - TheMightyQuill (talk) 15:33, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd oppose this change as well. If I was creating this as a brand new article, I'd probably have done it under the full name. However, since the article has existed at this name for more than two years, it's a lot less disruptive to leave the name alone and to create a redirect at the full name that links here. That way, if someone is actually searching under the full name, they'll be able to find it. The MDA disambiguation page already provides a link to this article, so that's covered too. Article sucks

somebody needs to put one of those "please fill in more information about this subject" pink boxes because there is no information about the company between 1969 and 1995. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.18.100.226 (talk) 21:51, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
