Correction to Madagascar's Ranking as Largest Country

Dear Editor,

I noticed a slight inaccuracy in the current description of Madagascar. While the statement mentions it as the "44th largest country in the world," the actual ranking is 46th.

Here's the corrected sentence:

Madagascar, officially the Republic of Madagascar, is an island country comprising the island of Madagascar and numerous smaller peripheral islands. Lying off the southeastern coast of Africa, it is the world's fourth largest island, the second-largest island country, and the 46th largest country in the world. [14]

I believe this edit ensures the information aligns with current geographical data.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Yelstine (talk) 21:46, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The reference cited in the article supports the claim that it's the second largest island nation by area, but it doesn't support the other claims. The CIA World Factbook lists it at #49. So, yes, something needs to be cleaned up here. Mgnbar (talk) 22:19, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Madagascar is definitely not the 44th, the lead says it's the 44th, but the rest of the article itself cites 46th. I'm going to--for now--change this to 46th. 750h+ 01:47, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

tags

there are some tags like update (i added due to very outdated info) along with a section expansion tag. if these issues are not addressed by 1 July, I will probably put this up for FAR. 48JCL TALK 00:08, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just the note about infobox stats? Because a lot of statistics are infrequently collected. Zanahary (talk) 00:42, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry didn't realize this post had to do with the update.... yes we only got new stats every 10 years .... last one was 2018 release https://data.humdata.org/m/dataset/cod-ps-mdg? Moxy🍁 00:47, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Zealand

The article’s Early history section states that Maagscar’s settlement predated that of New Zealand, but New Zealand’s article dates its settlement substantially earlier than Madagascar’s. Zanahary 19:31, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Madagascar says that Madagascar was settled by 550 CE (and maybe substantially earlier). New Zealand says that New Zealand was settled around 1300 CE. I don't see the problem. Mgnbar (talk) 04:38, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. My mistake! Zanahary 14:50, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear maintainer of the Madagascar page,

I would like to request an update to be made to the economy section of the page. The graph showing the GDP change is outdated (2015). I already uploaded the latest version of the graph to wikipedia commons.

Madagascar Real GDP per capita in 2011$, 1950 to 2022

The Unofficial anthem song in Madascar is "I like to Move it" after the large popularity in the Inhabitants of Madagascar and should be included in the Wikipedia page. Classic polak (talk) 19:25, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
