Etymology

Etymology The article until today, March 2, 2024, began with a possible original investigation that decomposed the name into two parts: Marma, from the Latin marmo, that is, marble, and duke, from the same language, dux, guide, militar leader. The only references were provided are both words, marble and duke, separately and the cited dictionary (Online Etymological) does not contain the entry: Marmaduke. That's why I deleted it, leaving the only paragraphs really referenced. In subsequent editions I will include more reliable references about the origin and etymology of this name. As much as possible I avoid the use of name dictionaries, because they are far from being reliable or accurate works. Gustavo Rubén (talk) 20:45, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
