Organization XIII factsheet (READ FIRST)

Attributes, weapons, and Nobodies are taken from Kingdom Hearts II Ultimania, with the exception of Zexion's attribute, which was taken from a Famitsu interview with Nomura; Zexion's weapon, which was shown in scans from magazines; and Lexaeus' weapon, which is referred to as a tomahawk in his profiles for Chain of Memories and II. Original selves come from in-game information, Secret Ansem Report #2 and #3 in the case of Xigbar, Xaldin, Vexen, Lexaeus, and Zexion, with big, obvious scenes revolving around the original selves of Xemnas and Roxas.
Gaps with no confirmed information are:

Something important is missing

I think there's something strange about this article. It seems to be an article about the characters of the Organization XIII... It doesn't actually describe what IS the Organization XIII. I think a section describing it should be added above the Members section (the current section lead doesn't make much sense for someone unfamiliar with the series). FightingStreet (talk) 23:06, 24 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The lead paragraph of the article was meant to "briefly" describe what the organization is, as most everything else was excessive fictional info, which we tried to keep to a minimum. What extra information or possible copy edits did you have in mind? (Guyinblack25 talk 16:06, 25 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]
What the organization is, or why they have a precise name for their group in the first place (Sora, Donald and Goofy don't have a name for their group, why do the characters of the "Organization XIII" have one?). FightingStreet (talk) 18:22, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, my guess is only the director knows that right now. When we were digging for information on the characters, nothing like that came up. Who knows though, maybe more info will pop up when the three new games get released. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:36, 25 February 2008 (UTC))[reply]

IMAGES

I know we've discussed this before but is their anyway to bring back the old pictures? The picture at the top shows all the members of the organization but I think it would be better to just have separate pictures. It makes the page look better and makes it more appealing. Please reply. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.53.224.171 (talk) 02:43, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, because the images are of copyrighted material, we are limited in the usage of them. Basically, because there is a single image that illustrates most of the characters, we can't really use single images anymore. See for Talk:Characters of Kingdom Hearts#Removal of images a similar discussion. (Guyinblack25 talk 03:16, 2 April 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Yes, individual images are obviously a no-no, which is why I'm not convinced by the third image, as I mentioned on your talkpage. BKNFCC 16:45, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Forget that, I've just realised that it's a main character who isn't featured in the (very nice) image at the top. In that case, it probably just about squeaks past NFCC, so it can stay. BKNFCC 16:47, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That was the same conclusion we came to. Thank you very much for understanding. :-) (Guyinblack25 talk 16:50, 7 April 2008 (UTC))[reply]
But since Roxas was an Organisation member as well, shouldn't the caption note he isn't pictured? L337 kybldmstr (talk) 02:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Number XIV

So, it would appear that Number XIV's name is Xion. However, the source doesn't actually mention her name. On KH-Vids.net, the claims are saying it might be "Xeon" or "Shione". And also XIV resembles Kairi. Should this information be properly added into the article as a section for Xion (cool name). What are you views? Evilgidgit (talk) 08:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Information will become much, much more clearer in the coming days, when the official trailers pop up online and there are more reports from the press. We don't need to stick it in right away. From the little I've gathered from that post in kh-vids, Shion is the most clear name, and it's simply the romanised form of シオン. Anything else like Xion or Xeon is speculation, so far. Resembling Kairi is also speculation. - Zero1328 Talk? 09:35, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
[1]This appears to be a description of the trailer revealing Shion's name. - Zero1328 Talk? 09:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure the official trailers will appear on the internet. The ones from the Tokyo Game Show day didn't appear. However, I do agree with your idea. I'm not so good with the Japanese language, the people on KH-Vids.net said "Sh" in Japan stands for "X" since they don't have it in their alphabet, or something along those lines.Evilgidgit (talk) 12:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We've done our own Romanizations of Japanese names before (as in, before any of the official 6 human names were published, etc.). I don't think there's much problem in using a Romanized name with "X" in it, but we need concensus on what form to use.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 16:36, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Using "Shion" would probably be the dumbest thing ever. I can't believe some people are actually suggesting she won't have an X in her name. The Splendiferous Gegiford (talk) 01:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Gegiford. Shion doesn't seem to be the best at the moment. But if "Sh for X" is true. Then I believe Xion would be a safe choice. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 03:06, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hate to be this guy again, but I believe we should wait until some reliable (non-fansite) sources can be found that provide an English translation. There is no need to jump the gun, even if it does make logicial sense that her name will be Xion. Wikipedia is not meant to serve as a news site and does not need to be completely up-to-date with recently released information. The information will get sorted out by the major gaming networks. Once that happens we'll have everything we need to add it to the page. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:22, 4 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

First off, from what I've read, she's not neccesarily "No. 14", just a fourteenth member. She could just as easily be unnumbered, No. 0, or even No. 13. Indeed, her membership seems to predate Roxas'. Second, Shion (シオン) is pronounced closer to Xeon than Xion (Xion makes one think of Zion), but Sion, Shion, Zion, Chillon and others still are all valid romanizations. In this case, the シ (shi) obviously represents a "X" sound, as was the case in Marluxia (マールーシャ, Mārūsha). There was absolutely no need for people to go around calling the guy Marusha for such a long time before his official English name came out, they just didn't have any common sense when it came to romanization. As Guyinblack25 said, there's no need to jump the gun and add a bunch of info right away (I expect Japanese magazines covering the event will likely have an official romanization in their related articles in the next week or two). However, as a guideline, if you want to add newly translated stuff, please consider Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia: Ignore all rules, and Wikipedia:Use common sense in addition to Wikipedia:No original research; all translations not directly attributed to other sources could be seen as original research. The point is that they should be handled logically for the benefit of the readers, not bereft of meaning by "original research" guidelines. In such a case, using "Xeon" or "Xion" would be more beneficial to a reader than "Shion", as it demonstrates the (obviously intentional) connection to the other characters. As I said, an official English romanization will likely surface soon, so it may be better to just wait. WtW-Suzaku (talk) 16:18, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case there was any doubt about the legitimacy of the Japanese name, here's a scan with シオン on it [2] And I still don't see any problem with just adding it as Xion or Xeon for now. Xigbar's name was listed as Xigbal for a long time before the official spelling was revealed. The Splendiferous Gegiford (talk) 20:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I realize it doesn't make perfect sense to wait, but the article wasn't GA status before. The Kingdom Hearts Featured topic requires this article to maintain a GA rating. If it's alright, I'd like to keep such content to a minimum to maintain the quality of the article. (Guyinblack25 talk 00:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]
The new magazine scans have revealed that her name is Xion. They're on www.kh2.co.uk and www.khinsider.com Jienum (talk) 10:01, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All I need to add them is the publication date/month, article name, author name, issue number, page number(s), and publication name. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:30, 29 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]
I don't have a lot of info about it, but I've put a link to those scans and everything I know about it on the talk page of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Take a look. Jienum (talk) 16:36, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Those scans also seem to confirm her as Number XIV. Immblueversion (talk) 21:28, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now XIV has an extremely short section. Should it just be removed as she's mentioned everywhere else and it basically repeats all that? And the hidden note is still there. I was unsure so I left it there. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 14:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and removed it for a couple reasons.
  • This is about a character in an unreleased game that has had very little information released about it. Creating a section adds undue weight to the character.
  • It's a preemptive action against speculation. Normally, such small sections make people feel that it should be filled. Currently there is almost nothing to fill in and I'd rather not make it easier for fans to add in their speculation.
  • Because of the article is currently Good article status, it has to meet certain standards to maintain that level.
To be honest, with the standard of quality on Wikipedia constantly raising, I worry that this article would be delisted if it ever went to WP:GAR—which would be bad for the Kingdom Hearts topic. Should it ever go to GAR, I'd like it to be in the best possible shape. Otherwise, it could be delisted and the only possible solution would be to merge it to Characters of Kingdom Hearts. I hope that won't happen, but such is the scenario for articles like this one. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:25, 2 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I think that the XIV member should be included in the page, since she is a member of Organization 13, and her name spelling has been revealed right here http://www.khinsider.com/images/!l/nd1.jpg . Therfore, its official and can and should be put on the page. Blarben (talk) 02:14, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As stated above, this is a good article and need to maintain that or it'll jeopardize the Kingdom Hearts featured topic, but maybe that last one is exaggerated. I'm not sure. This page will have to be merged with the KH character list though. .Adding Xion (or whatever her name is) will make it easier for specualtion, which is usually unsourced inofmration that might not even happen. And it would create a very short section as there is little information. That gives the character undue weight. I'm not even sure she's as important as she's hyped up to be. But that's all mentioned directly above by GuyinBlack25. By the way, thanks for all that. Itzjustdrama (drama?) 02:22, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Xion's face has apparently been revealed at this year's Tokyo Game Show, but the appearance is different. Some people are saying that Xion looks like a younger version Aqua, while others say she is a black-haired version of Kairi. It is likely that some editors will add information like this to the article, but there will not be real support from reliable sources. As much as I would like to add this information myself, I can't since I haven't seen any pictures of her appearance (I doubt anyone has). It's a shame that none of this information can be added in until we have concrete evidence and sources, plus we have to wait until next year. Oh well. Evilgidgit (talk) 14:50, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind what I said. Lookee here what I found on KH2.co.uk:

http://www.kh2.co.uk/image.php?view=up/081014days.jpg So, what do we do now?! Evilgidgit (talk) 17:52, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, saying a person, real-life or fictional, looks like another falls under original research. Without a reliable third party source or developer stating that, I'd say let's keep it out. I'm sure if we wait for the info to make its way through the gaming networks, we'll get what we need. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:05, 14 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
That's fine with me!!! Apologies, I'm a bit excited. Evilgidgit (talk) 19:42, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Xion acknowledges her resemblance to Naminé in dialogue according to several reports, in any case.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 02:07, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Xion has her own section again. I still think she doesn't have enough information to warrant a section. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 17:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it was inevitable. I did a rewrite with some sources to focus more on real-life content. Let's just try to keep the fictional content to a minimum and make sure speculation is removed. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:28, 15 October 2008 (UTC

In universe?

This article is about as far from in-universe as articles about fiction can get. The tag should be removed. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 19:07, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Although I believe a section on the reception of the character would be nice, if it is possible to create one. But the article is not in-universe in my opinion. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 21:43, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article is in-universe, the creation section is fine but one covering impact (i.e. critical reception and merchandise) should be developed. Since Roxas (Kingdom Hearts) redirects here, we should use every last bit of his critical reception to head-start something here. Its not like we are lacking published critical commentary and there is merchandise. Roxas and Axel have Play Arts toys and there are plushes covering the more miscellaneous members as well, like its the case with Demyx. Jewelry based on Roxas can also be mentioned. Then there are those freaky cosplay costumes that seem so popular at e-bay... I'm sure something can be squeezed out of there. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:30, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll go see if I can find anything on the cosplay costumes from a source other than e-bay. I'll probably tackle merchandise in its entirety. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 22:45, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, altough my time is limited, I will dig up critical reception from IGN, GameSpot, EuroGamer, etc. to build that part. I expanded the ones in Cloud Strife and Sephiroth (Final Fantasy), this should be similar albeit with a collective scope. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:14, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I just added a critical reception section, how does it look? - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:30, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It seems okay, but a few things:
  1. The Rapid Thruster battle was with Riku.
  2. The first bit seems to confuse the questions during the pre-release advertising as actual reviews and impact. Those bits are portrayed as mysterious simply because they are mysterious. We didn't know much back then. It also seems to reiterate plot in places, which is redundant with the above sections. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 03:54, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Most of the content is directly taken from the reviews, so its actually only reflecting the opinion that reviewers had back then. If they discussed it in the reviews it was for a reason, remember that all of them had finished the game by then and thus already knew the "mystery". Other than that, only two lines are taken from previews because 358/2 Days isn't out yet, those are place holders. - Caribbean~H.Q. 04:28, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, that's a lot more reception content than I remember noticing when cleaning up this article a year ago. I've always been worried this article would lose its GA status eventually because the lack of such a section, but not anymore. Nice job. :-)
Caribbean, I do not have an Axel Play Arts figure. I meant to pick one up but never did. The only one I have is Roxas. Maybe I'll ask Santa for one this Christmas.
I'll try to give the whole article a full copy edit after Drama adds in merchandise content. It's been edited a lot by well meaning fans and needs some tidying up. (Guyinblack25 talk 19:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]
It doesn't look like much of a reception section at the moment. But I'll try to get it done by the end of tomorrow. Friday at the latest. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 22:54, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No rush. Friday is fine too. (Guyinblack25 talk 23:04, 25 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]
No need to hurry, I was thinking that this could mimic Characters of Kingdom Hearts and follow it up to FA, to do that we must focus on quality. I have several project pending for WP:PUR, but this could be a interesting diversion while waiting for nominations. By the way, I was wondering if we should somehow add a passing mention of the "Organization XIII Mushrooms" found in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+, what do you think? - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:00, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
XIII Kinoko. "Organization XIII Mushrooms" does not appear anywhere in official material. (And it's Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. The plus title is for the pack of Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories.) 129.89.180.151 (talk) 07:44, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What he means is that "+" is the name of the compilation, while Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix is the name of the actual game. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 17:37, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Going back to the actual question, should we mention them or not? - Caribbean~H.Q. 15:00, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure where would be a good place. I guess a brief mention in the development section after the optional boss fights in Final Mix. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:37, 9 December 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Yeah, I will try cooking something up from this interview and the actual Heartless. Drama, since you are working with merchandise, its probably useful noting that Airwalk has two shoe models named after characters in KHII, both of them members of Organization XIII, the "Roxas Dot Skate" and the "Demyx Skate", hope that helps. - Caribbean~H.Q. 07:04, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling Errors

Rather small, I know, but spelling errors in encyclopedias should be fixed. 'Make' and 'Keyblade' are spelled wrong in Marluxia's section, first sentence of the second paragraph.

Xigbar meeting Sora

Sorry if this is old news, i haven't been here so long, and my friend used my account a few times.

Anyways, the one thing i did notice he edited, was actually correct in my point of view. This article says Xigbar met Sora for the First Time in Hollow Bastion.

But i could have sworn it was Axel. Both Axel and Xigbar have a similar figure, but when the person was talking to Sora, he sounded just like Axel.

Dose anyone here have any reliable sources saying it was Xigbar that met Sora in Hollow Bastion and not Axel? (Haseo445 (talk) 18:57, 8 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Um, maybe the fact that Axel was fleeing from the Organization after failing to retrieve Roxas? - Caribbean~H.Q. 00:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

this whole time axel has been trying to bring back roxas. also the voice does not even match xigbars voice it makes more sense that it was axel since axel appears in hallow bastion.

i think its speculation that xigbar met sora in hallow bastion since the voice does not even match xigbars. (Haseo445 (talk) 20:44, 11 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Sorry, but that is fandom. The game leaves two things clear: 1. The Organization was aware that Roxas had stopped existing, hence the reason why Xemnas comments about his reemergence after Axel's demise. 2. Axel was fleeing from the group, which is made obvious both by his actions and the fact that he himself admits that failure would meant "being turned into a Dusk". - Caribbean~H.Q. 07:40, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
His voice is exactly the same as Xigbar's in both English and Japanese, not to mention in Japanese Xigbar has a speech quirk that's present in the scene of them meeting at Hollow Bastion as well. I don't know what made you think it was Axel. The Splendiferous Gegiford (talk) 07:56, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I played the game 5 times reviewing this and looked up his information, the official guide tells you that Xigbar was introduced in The land of dragons, not Radiant gardens (hallow bastion), haseo445 is right, the voice doesn't match Xigbars at all.

Xigbars voice sounds more of a brittish accent with a scratchy voice. Axel was most likely to be the one talking to sora. It also does not make any sense to introduce Xigbar so early and not get enough scene within the game.

Also the proof you guys gave didnt make sense, Axel just wanted to see sora just to see if he can see any "roxas" within him when that scene came up. Organization 13 leaves, then another organization 13 character comes in. To me it also seemed like Axel, and if you see it as Axel coming in after organization 13 leaves, then yes, it would make sense.

Axel still wanted to bring back roxas even after he ws put back into sora. thats why he kidnapped kairi.

I also listened to the japanese version and i dont hear it at all how it sounds like xigbar. span style="font-size: smaller;" class="autosigned">—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.249.176.77 (talk) 15:25, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I could see why someone would assume it was xigbar, but still, like he said, official guide says xigbar was introduced in land of dragons, not in Hallow bastion.

and the voice sounds similar to xigbar, but i know for sure its not his. usually when an organization member is introduced, it would also show the nobody they control, so its not likely it was xigbar. not to mention it was stupid to even think xigbar would just act like that and acted so personal with him. the way 24.249.176.77 explained made much more sense.

you guys have no source of it being Xigbar, so i suggest you edit his profile, saying he was first seen in land of dragonsHaseo445 (talk) 17:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A few things
  • This is a minor story point that generally should not require much attention. I'm starting to think plot details should be trimmed as much as possible.
  • Haseo445, please don't try to support your previous statements by using an IP address.
  • Everyone else, Haseo445 is correct that WP:VERIFY should take precedent here. Most disagreements can be resolved by presenting reliable sources to support a claim. I'll check the strategy guides I have at home later tonight, and see what else I can dig up to support the various points brought up here.
(Guyinblack25 talk 18:01, 29 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Okay, but common sense indicates that if Haseo is correct about the strategy guide, it must refer to Xigbar's unmasking as the first time he and Sora "meet". Listen to the cutscene for Hollow Bastion, then listen to the one before the Xigbar battle in World that Never Was. Hollow Bastion: "Be a good boy." Never Was: "Have you been a good boy?" Hollow Bastion: "As if!" Never Was: "As if!" -BaronGrackle (talk) 18:22, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is a logical conclusion that fits both sides' statements. However, some sources backing it up would certainly go a long way in ending this discussion and preventing it from popping up again. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:50, 29 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Sorry for the late response. I checked the KHII strategy guide, but it was very sparse on plot details and mainly talked about Xigbar's boss battle. Nothing in the KH series Ultimania jumped out at me, but my Japanese is pretty rusty. It only talked about a general character description because it was more of a preview book before the game came out. The other Ultimania books may have more, but I don't have them. The only other thought that comes to mind is searching through game reviews. (Guyinblack25 talk 01:16, 4 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

[3] If you watch the part where Sora talks to the Organization member after the others disappear, you can see that it is Xigbar. His mannerisms, stance, voice, and his word usage shows that he is, in fact, Xigbar, and not Axel. Not to mention how he uses the sentence, "Now, do you think that's polite, shutting me down like that?" and "See, that would work--if I was just any old dude. 'Cept I'm not. I'm with the Organization. Nothing 'any old' about me." If that was Axel, speaking there, I would highly doubt he would use Xigbar's traits and mannerisms, and his word usage would be waaaayyyyy different. Just wanted to clarify that. ;D SomebodySomeone (talk) 9:48, March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.244.205 (talk)

In the way his name is written in Japanese, the pronunciation is indeed "mar-loo-sha". There are minor differences for the other names as well. Is there really a confirmed voice actor for Xion???? there is no reference proving megumi is her voice actor.

i know Megumi Toyoguchi is confirmed for the voice cast for aqua in birth by sleep but i don't know where you guys pulled off Megumi Toyoguchi playing the voice of Xion.

Xion doesn't even sound like Megumi.

the opening of kh 358/2 days shows his name is spelled saix not saix with two dots over the eye.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC1vvD3LZlw&feature=channel_page

this video here proves it. so really, we should put his real name in and say it was mistranslated in the english version or north american version. which ever one it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.103.56.26 (talk) 02:28, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the Japanese KHII site also romanizes it as "Saix", so all we need to do is mention it in the nihongo template. The double-dotted name is still the official translation, though. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 19:35, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
umm....prove it...the kh2 official website mentions nothing, its impossible to know which is official and which isnt. practically most of the original names of ansem apprentices were mis translated and you all changed it, so why not "saix". its impossible to prove it was official since the english website from UK and US mention no names of organization XIII. everyone "thought" it was the official spelling because there was no way to prove it until now. the game and the official website both romanized it as"saix". its not a nihongo prnounciation, its the official romanization
This reminds me of the ever fun case of Aerith vs Aeris. Anyway, I just checked the NA game guide and Jiminy's journal in the game, and they spelled it "Saïx", with the two dots. I can't say that Square Enix won't change the official spelling, it's happened before. But I think it would be best to wait until the game is released in the English speaking world before we any decision on our part occurs. (Guyinblack25 talk 23:22, 30 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]

No. Again, no OR, and furthermore, this is the english wikipedia, so the official english names take precedence (Seriously, I would assume professional English translators would be slightly more familiar with English than whoever was hired to program the japanese KHII website.) We can mention that the official Japanese materials romanizes his name as "Saix", but that's it. Anything more is OR.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 05:45, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, your being pretty stuborn. Its perfect to wait for the english release of days. if days releases in english and changes the romanization to "Saix" then we will have to change it.

If you want to be profesional about it, change braig to bleig and eleus to Aleus and dilan to dilin. without saying that they were mis romanized.

saix could very well be mis romanized (in english). we have no facts that Saix is the confirmed english writing (that is with the two dots), all we know is thats how they spelled it in kh2. so if days translates it as "saix" then it will have to change it, no matter if the last translation was incorrect or not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.64.190.254 (talk) 23:36, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"we have no facts that Saix is the confirmed english writing (that is with the two dots),"'
...Except that that is the f*cking confirmed english spelling, by virtue of being the spelling used in the bloody English game. just because it was used with two dots, doesnt mean its the confirmed spelling. also, language please.

and again, its no big deal, if 358/2 days releases in english and says "saix" then we change it, if they stick with "saix with two dots over the I" then we leave it. and what do you mean "probably," if your so mad about saix, then why dont you change braig and aleus and dilan to bleig, eleus, and dilin. you say these are mis translated, but how? they are used in the englsih version. so we have no proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.64.190.254 (talk) 00:07, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please just stop posting, its hard to even identify the delusional claims you are trying to make.
  1. "Saïx" is the official English spelling of his name, by virtue of being the name chosen to appear in all English materials. Any attempt to claim it is "unofficial" despite this is pure lunacy.
  2. Bleig, Eleus, and Dilan do appear in the article, you polyp. Furthermore, they are official and officially mistransliterated, because the naming procedure for the Organization, an important part of the plot, contradicts those spellings.
  3. I'm not "mad about Saix". I'm mad at you having a complete detachment from any kind of reality, but choosing to call me "stubbon" and "in-denial".Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 20:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

and again....kh2 was RUSHED. they did everything in a hurry INCLUDING, translations.

so again....when 358/2 days comes out and names saix the way they want to, then we change it or leave it as it is. they have changed names before.

Xemnas's title

Let's review how Japanese Wikipedia uses "指導者".

Evidently, "guide" is not the overwhelming meaning of the term.

As for "interstice" and "between". Uh, they essentially mean the same thing. "狭間" is used in the Japanese name for Betwixt and Between and Alley to Between. The word has more established presence in the franchise than "interstice". 174.102.202.236 (talk) 07:54, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

....seriously? That's a terrible method.
指導者 【しどうしゃ】 (n) leader; guide; mentor; coach
Thus, guide is an acceptable translation, and works much better in the story's context that he led other's into becoming Nobodies. Plus, honestly, it sounds better.
Yes, Interstice and In-Between mean the same thing - that's the entire reason "interstice was used", because between the two synonyms, interstice is both more grammatically correct, it sounds better.
As for using the game terms - Saix has a similar situation, where his "Devil" could be accurately translated as "Berserker", a term much closer to him in the game. But we use "Devil", for the sake of being more literal and clear about the meaning of the kanji in the title.
If we decide to use the story terms, then shidousha has always been translated as "Superior" (yeah, chew that for a while, it was his title after all). So the story-term translation would be "Superior of the In-Between". Personally, that sounds like something a three your old named. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 14:10, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Uh, no. The "maijin" in Saix's title is used to refer to magical beings, such as genies and warlocks. If they meant "berserker", they're way off the mark. And I remain baffled that you believe Xemnas's title is a reference to one thing he did in the past rather than his general function in the Organization... as opposed to every other title. 174.102.202.236 (talk) 19:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, if they notably used "指導者" to refer to Xemnas as a superior or leader, why would they suddenly change gears and have it mean something else? 174.102.202.236 (talk) 08:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A berserker, or demoniac, could easily and accurately be translated as majin. It simply means "demon man", and can mean anything under that banner.
I already changed it to "Superior".
"Serendipitous" has virtually the same meaning as "Happened-upon" (or more literally, "found by chance"), and is the perfect translation for it.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 15:28, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Long, unnecessary information.

I dont find it relevant to this article to include certain bits of information that just take up too much space and make the article too hard to read.

For example, the additional cutscenes that feature Axel in Final Mix + (when Axel talks to Roxas from the dead) is not that essential to the plot and can be omitted. The information regarding the secrecy of Zexion's weapon can also be removed, as well as each and every member's battle styles and attacks.

Granted, most of the information in his article can either be weeded out or summarized. I would do it myself, but considering how stingy users are at keeping the status quo, I'm certain my edit will be revised. What are your thoughts on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.165.113.153 (talk) 20:57, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I admit, this article has been a bit of a battle ground sometimes. And unfortunately, the content suffers greatly for it. Thankfully, the article passed its GA Reassessment after some clean up.
To be quite honest, I could do without the most of the Final Mix and Re:CoM content as well. However, anything related to the characters' development, like Zexion's weapon, I think should remain though because it provides a real world perspective to the topic.
Are there any parts you have specific thoughts about, like rewrite suggestions? We can hash out revisions here and implement them in the article later. (Guyinblack25 talk 21:28, 28 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Saïx

There's something that's been on my mind for quite a while now. Member VII's name is "Saïx", but in the English games they call him "Sighx", a VERY clear mispronunciation, because the "Sighx" would have to have the "i" before the "a". "Saïx" seems more like "Sighx", but it's still "Sighx". Shouldn't this be mentioned in his article? That his name was mistranslated or something? I definitely think so. 79.159.159.43 (talk) 17:55, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is pronounced Sigh-axe —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.28.35.80 (talk) 17:32, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • It does seem like some sort of weird mistranslation, either that or an intentional change by the English-language games' translators. His name isn't spelled with the double-dotted I in the Japanese versions, and his name is written "saikusu" in katakana and pretty much pronounced "sighx" (rather than the weird extra-syllable "sigh-axe" or whatever) in the Japanese versions too. Also throws off the "name is their original name plus an X" pattern, as Isa is not spelled with a double-dotted I, not even in the English versions. The double-dotted I and different pronunciation seem to have been inexplicably created for the English version of the game (maybe to avoid having the exact same name/pronunciation as an already-copyrighted character from some other series? that's all I can think of, unless they just randomly decided to change it for no good reason.) I found this article while searching for some typos. I'd copy edit it myself but I don't understand parts of it. For example:

  • "After working with the first game, Nomura gained interest in mushroom Heartless, most of which served to gain rare items in the title."
  • "Instead, the characters were included in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix along with the rest of the members as data-based versions in separate optional boss fights and in a new location."

Accommodating the new organization

As many of you may have known, as of KH:3D, there has been a newly established Organization XIII. Does anyone think it is worth while to include another section that lists "members of the new organization" or something along those lines to accommodate Ansem SOD, YMX and MX? Or should we hold off on doing that until the release of the Ultimania? MikamiLovesDeleting (talk) 07:37, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Starting to review... --PresN 14:09, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lead
  • The lead just seems... anemic. It doesn't cover concept and creation, nor discusses the "14th" member. Also, I'm allergic to 1 / 2-sentence paragraphs.
Concept
  • "As of the end of Dream Drop Distance, the names of the Organization members' original selves are all known" - when was this? Like, is that the latest game? What year?
  • "In terms of good and evil, Nomura tried to portray the characters ambiguously" - awkwardly phrased. "Nomura tried to portray the characters ambiguously, rather than explicitly good or evil."
  • I think you're going to need to list out the games the organization appears in, since you keep name dropping them.
@PresN: like a real list? Or subheadings? Want to get a sense of how to tackle this.
I guess a list of titles would be awkward; maybe just put in that series timeline template from the series article in this section, and move the concept art down to Members. --PresN 03:18, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • The last two sentences are unreferenced
Members
  • If you're going to use the terms Heartless and Nobodies, then the explanation of them needs to be not in a note in the lead but in the article text (and referenced)
  • The last few sentences are unreferenced.
Xemnas
  • "is the Nobody of Xehanort though he uses an anagram of his stolen alias Ansem with an "X" added for his name" - you've already talked about the X thing, so "is the Nobody of Xehanort, though his name is based on his alias Ansem."
  • "Xemnas takes advantage of the Sleeping Worlds to mess with Sora" - to "mess with"?
  • about half this section is unreferenced

Will continue later. Note that there seems to be a lot going forward that is unreferenced. --PresN 17:53, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a lot of it is plot summary, so I'll just call out when it seems more important to have a reference.
Xigbar
  • paragraph 2 is short, and has tense problems
  • "smirking" is a weird verb to use, and that sentence is muddled
Xaldin
  • "set backs" -> setbacks
Vexen
  • Starting here, the voice actors are listed at the start of the section, instead of the end; this should be consistent. I like having them at the start, though, so maybe just adjust Xaldin, Xigbar, and Xemnas
  • It seems like all of the dead members get rezzed as the full person in DDD? This should be mentioned in the Members section (with reference), and not repeated in each member's section
Axel
  • "Upon learning the truth that she is a Replica, Axel reluctantly hides it from Roxas while being forced in hunting down Xion" - grammar
  • "Once learning the truth, Roxas left the Organization to Axel's dismay" - followed by tense
Luxord
  • "Cheshrie Cat"
  • "Shortly after, he laments his subordination to the Organization to Roxas" - the double-to makes this hard to parse
Roxas
  • This section starts by recapping terms like it's the first section, not the 15th, including links that should be way higher up the page
  • It seems like this one is just a copy of the lead from his article? The format is different from the others, and there's no references. I'd like it to be a little bit longer to give a better overview of his character arc, and not just rely on the main article
  • "Since his first cameo in the series, director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that Roxas is an important character to the series" - awkward repetition, and written like a pre-KH2 article, not one games and games later
Xion
  • "Zion is an original character created by Tetsuya Nomura" - Zion? And aren't they all original characters?
  • Should be more clear that she was specific to 358/2, as opposed to also KH2 like most of the others
  • The voice actors are unreferenced
Reception
  • "The obscure nature of the Organization's activities throughout Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II have led reviewers" - just "led", the tense is wrong
  • "These interrogatives surrounding the group have created expectation" - wut
  • "the writer praises the "Facedown" Reaction Command" - tense
  • Actually, the whole second paragraph is a game guide about which boss fights are harder... some of it could be salvaged, but that's not really reception on the characters vs. the gameplay around them
  • "Jeff Haynes of IGN felt that Roxas was a "likable kid", Ron Fahey of Eurogamer concurred" - needs a transition word or semicolon, not just a comma
  • The last paragraph is odd- it claims that the various members got varied reception, but only mentions Roxas and Xion. It either needs to claim less or have more content. Preferably more content; I'm surprised that Axel didn't have anything, for one.
  • Honestly, I'm a little underwhelmed by this section after the lengthy plot repetitions of the characters- I almost feel like if no more reception is out there that maybe this article should be cut and the development section merged into the series article. The characters that are individually notable have their own articles, and it feels like most of the 13 are just tacked-on minibosses without much substance, in turn giving the article length without any real content.
References
  • There's a bunch of citations to Hollinger et. al., but no listed source.

Alright, placing on hold. --PresN 19:50, 5 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Judgesurreal777: It's been a couple weeks; you still on this? --PresN 20:36, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@PresN:, yeah, sorry I got really bogged down and haven't had any Wikitime lately. Let me see what I can do, but I really want to push through the three GA's I said I'd review first, they have also been waiting. Might have bitten off a bit too much, but i'll get it done. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 20:41, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Judgesurreal777: No worries, just wanted to make sure you hadn't forgotten about it. --PresN 20:44, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@PresN: I am not going to be able to fix these issues at this time, life has gotten very busy, so we should probably just close this review. Thanks for the thoroughness, I'm sure it'll be GA again someday. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 21:04, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@JudgeSurreal777: Okay, closing. Are you going to be able to do the Commander Keen in Keen Dreams review, or should I delete the nom subpage there? --PresN 18:52, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

just a reminder

before all fangirls go bonkers about marluxia being Lauriam which is not unofficial, wait until the game translation a English name for him and wait until at the very end to see anything new about this new character, before fangirls go crazy about marluxia has a other half, like Axel, Saix and Roxas has, and please lock the page as quickly as fast as you can because I am disagree about Lauriam being marluxia. we have to wait until next update for the game shows if he is related to marluxia someday Eliskuya2 (talk)

English pronunciations

I recently included templates for the English IPA pronunciations and respellings, but they were removed. I'm not sure about the criteria for including such pronunciations, especially since pages like Texas and Hades have them without any citations. I think it would be useful, especially ones that differ from the Japanese pronunciations (e.g. "Lea" being /ˈl/ LEE in English as opposed to "Ria"), but I want to be sure that it would be allowed. User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 02:51, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I was mistaken. They weren't removed, just the respelling templates. Still, the question stands. User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 02:55, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
