Renée is intentionally misspelled?

Sexuality

Posting here before I revert per WP:BRD. It seems to be the consensus of reliable sources that Rapp is bisexual, not lesbian.[1][2]. The source in the article failed verification; it only describes her SNL character’s sexuality. Thriftycat TalkContribs 13:14, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As of now, it's no more than just a joke on SNL. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 13:33, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
she's claimed to be bisexual in any number of interviews. were they all tongue in cheek? 2601:19C:527F:7890:78B2:F0C6:788E:8583 (talk) 04:48, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She has clearly identified as bisexual in the past. It's possible that she later decides that lesbian is closer to her identity, but until she clearly states so, we leave it as bisexual. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 14:20, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
she wasnt playing a character but herself, she called herself a lesbian in a mean girls interview and on ig story, she also recently said that she doesnt like men 109.243.0.20 (talk) 16:41, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

also to say she must “clearly say” she’s a lesbian when she has said it multiple times ??? why are you not satisfied with her way of coming out PoorThingsViewer (talk) 00:58, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
should we not just put that she’s queer at this point? because she clearly doesn’t identify as bisexual anymore, and according to your standards her calling herself a lesbian doesn’t mean she is. so just put that she’s queer because it is technically true. 65.25.123.201 (talk) 01:05, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She has stated in podcasts that shes does not men anymore. She has referred to herself as a lesbian in Mean Girls press interviews and on her Instagram. She was referred to as a lesbian on SNL and by her Mean Girls castmates on set. She stated prior to this that she recently googled the lesbian masterdoc - which is a tool used to decipher if you are a lesbian. What more proof do you need? SarahManning194 (talk) 01:08, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
shes recently said she does not like boys and is on her instagram story calling herself a lesbian. u r a straight man obv ur considering her coming out a joke PoorThingsViewer (talk) 00:57, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She dated men before so obviously you are a little kid still in school and need to learn the definitions of lesbian and bisexual. 95.96.182.4 (talk) 11:59, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She called herself a lesbian on her Instagram story today. She discussed on Andy Cohen's radio show last week that she "was" out as bisexual but recently realized she does not like men. 2600:6C60:59F0:1AA0:CDF:2F1F:689D:AB0B (talk) 01:23, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sexuality is complicated. Not liking men doesn't automatically mean lesbian. Some women might not like men but still be attracted to them. Some might still identify as bisexual because they're attracted to non-binary people. We need a clear statement specifically stating she identifies as a lesbian. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 02:15, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
not liking men means not bisexual PoorThingsViewer (talk) 02:18, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
instagram story calling yourself a lesbian means lesbian. liking and saving posts calling you a lesbian means lesbian PoorThingsViewer (talk) 02:18, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
also once again, requiring a “clear statement” calling herself a lesbian shows a lack of understanding about sexuality and coming out PoorThingsViewer (talk) 02:19, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In many of her statements, she had either called herself a lesbian or talked about not liking men. She does not need to outright state it when there are so many of her own statements calling herself a lesbian, such as in this podcast: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8sXFK1e/ Tepdrew2002 (talk) 03:13, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Reneé called herself a “lesbian bodyguard” in an Instagram story of her following Megan Thee Stallion closely behind, along with Cara Delevingne, a well-known lesbian. ReneeRappIsALesbian (talk) 13:56, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i'm sorry but do we really need someone to release a public statement saying they're a lesbian for it to be official? because her calling herself a lesbian multiple times is what, a joke? Kaileylikescats (talk) 16:07, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, in order for inclusion on Wikipedia (which has strict standards for biographies of living people), there needs to be a reliable source. Social media posts (her own and others) are self-published and are not accepted as a reliable sources - while she may identify as a lesbian, we cannot add it here until it can be better verified. One solution I can offer is to amend the current statement to "In a 2022 interview, Rapp identified as bisexual" which indicates the statement may be out of date. Bklibcat67 (talk) 16:26, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
there is a reliable source, she was on a podcast and said it PoorThingsViewer (talk) 16:27, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
literally just say she used to ID as bisexual and in 2024 stated she no longer likes boys. you people are so afraid of the word lesbian it’s embarrassing and pathetic PoorThingsViewer (talk) 16:27, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
also wikipedia fully says this: “Never use self-published sources—including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and social network posts—as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject of the article.” Renee is the subject and she published on her own social media that she is a lesbian PoorThingsViewer (talk) 16:29, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a good point. After consulting the BLP page as well as the Perennial Websites page, I think you are right. I was able to locate this article that discusses her social media posts - she has only referred to herself as a lesbian via Instagram stories (that I could find), which are difficult to cite as they are only available temporarily. I have edited the article to better represent her and I hope that other editors will agree with the update.
(Side note: Assume good faith is a core value of editing Wikipedia - no one is afraid to call her a lesbian, but I and many other editors hold Wikipedia to a high standard of reliability and quality.) Bklibcat67 (talk) 17:50, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Her words do not agree with the facts. 95.96.182.4 (talk) 12:01, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just because Reneé has called herself bisexual in the past, doesn’t make her any less of a lesbian. You cannot just call it “speculation,” when she has blatantly called herself a lesbian now multiple times, and said she doesn’t like men (romantically - not in a “I don’t like men” joking way) as well. I would understand if it was just the SNL thing making fans speculate whether or not she was lesbian or bisexual, due to the comedic nature it happened in; however, Reneé herself has called herself lesbian multiple times after this, and they were in a serious manner. I don’t understand how it could possibly still just be “speculation,” when Reneé has been so outright about her change of sexuality label. ReneeRappIsALesbian (talk) 13:49, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just because she now says she is a lesbian to seems relevant does nit mean facts show she is bisexual. Marxism clearly leads to brainrot, if you even had any brains to begin with. 95.96.182.4 (talk) 12:02, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Love how you changed my spelling. 95.96.182.4 (talk) 12:06, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: It's still complete speculation. People are way overreacting to a single line from SNL. She has yet to clearly state that she now identifies as a lesbian. Anything short of a clear statement from Rapp is not good enough to change it. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 17:46, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here is an article that can be cited. Earlier today on Andy Cohen Live, Rapp confirmed this but I cannot find an article about it, just screen recordings that have been posted on social media. Immacritic101 (talk) 17:59, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article itself says that it's important to note that Rapp herself didn't use the term lesbian. She probably does identify as lesbian now, but it's not our job to speculate or draw our own conclusions on people's sexuality. We need a clear and unambiguous statement from her, which we currently don't have. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 18:06, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change bisexual to lesbian (Personal Life). Rapp has recently called herself a lesbian in numerous interviews and social media. Attempting to erase this by referencing her former identity as bisexual is blatant and shameful lesbiphobia. PoorThingsViewer (talk) 02:16, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: Twitter/X is generally not considered reliable, except for a subject posting about themselves. I found this article, but it appears to be a compilation of speculation from Twitter users. If reliable sources are available that clearly describe her as identifying as lesbian, I have no problem with changing it. Thriftycat TalkContribs 14:17, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i would link the podcast but i dont have a siriusxm subscription… id say her saying it herself is quite reliable PoorThingsViewer (talk) 14:55, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
