Death

His death has not been confirm yet, and a lot of sources claimed that Salei was already waiting the team in Minsk, and therefore, was not on the plane. ~~ Vokkare (talk) 15:43, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/sports/ex-red-wing-assistant-coach%27s-hockey-team-in-russian-plane-crash%3B-36-dead?1101 NHL.com is only reporting that he is on the main roster, and Other reports are citing an NHL.com article that says he may not have been on board. --141.212.97.17 (talk) 15:48, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He was NOT on the plane. It has been confirmed. He is in Minsk.

Ruslan Salei is alive --62.142.117.62 (talk) 16:27, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Salei is apparently in Minsk, a list of people on the plane and deceased was released and Salei's name was not on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.253.76.74 (talk) 16:33, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Orange County Register the Associated press has confirmed that he was on the flight, here Sovetsky Sport’s Dmitry Chesnokov also tweeted that Russian officials confirmed that "Ruslan Salei was on board the plane." in this article.--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 16:40, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A lot of conflicting reports in fact MSNBC has remove Salei from the "list of those who have perished" here perhaps it is best if we follow suit.--Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 16:53, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While Chesnokov tweeted from authorities that he was on the plane, the list accounts for the 45 people on the plane and his name is not listed anywhere. The question now is actually where he is, because he was not on that flight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.253.76.74 (talk) 16:50, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add to the confusion, the Russian Ministry of Emergencies does list Salei (#29): in Russian. Resolute 17:13, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I saw something from the Belarusian department of foreign affairs or something like that say that they were confirming him dead as well but I have long since forgotten where I saw it. So many articles have been read by me at this point. -DJSasso (talk) 17:17, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Other reports Salei is alive... "Another team member, former Detroit Red Wing Ruslan Salei, reportedly escaped the tragedy as he travelled to Minsk earlier." SovSport now has added Ruslan Salei to the list of those who died in the crash. http://www.sovsport.ru/news/text-item/479312 (Saint0wen (talk) 17:42, 7 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Salei is listed as one of those killed in the crash on KHL's official site. http://translate.google.by/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=be&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.khl.ru%2Fnews%2F2011%2F9%2F7%2F33434.html The Belarusian media are saying the same, and unfortunately there is no reason to doubt it. The Windsor Star is reporting his death as well via the Itar-Tass News Agency in Russia. Should be added to the article. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 18:09, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
With so many conflicting reports its probably best to wait for a government agency to actually issue a press release or for his family to make a statement if they do. -DJSasso (talk) 18:10, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, let's wait for an official release 132.203.170.217 (talk) 18:13, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Expect one shortly. Dinamo Minsk's GM just confirmed Salei was on the plane. (Saint0wen (talk) 18:16, 7 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]
NHL.com is now reporting his death is confirmed through the Russian Emergency Ministry. That has to be official now. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 18:21, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have at it I guess...but I really wish we had a first hand report...not these second hand reports that agencies said something. There have been a lot of incorrect second hand reports today. -DJSasso (talk) 18:23, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd trust NHL.com, they usually are loathe to report anything bad. So I'm sure Bettman and crew verified over and over before reporting it. Honestly, aside from the crash itself occurring have we had any first hand reports today? I haven't seen any directly from any sources beyond the media. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 18:27, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is very very ridicoulous. How can journalists put in blatant fabricated facts. How can they someone didnt do something, or may not have done something if other sources claimed they did. How could they have not verified, and have contradictory facts — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.3.250 (talk) 02:56, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
