should there be mention that some of the UTVs come in 4x6 "gator" and 6x6 "ranger" drivelines? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.17.201.146 (talk) 18:20, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Vendor section
There is currently a section of "notable" vendors for these products. This is not appropriate. Wikipedia is not a directory of vendors, is not a place for readers to shop, is not a resource for conducting business, and is not a catalog. See WP:NOTDIR, WP:NOTADVERTISING, WP:NOTCATALOG, WP:SPAM. etc. This has to go. Rlsheehan (talk) 15:03, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- For such a small article, the list of manufacturers is not inappropriate - I did remove the individual models to reduce the advertising/catalogue issues. In theory, someone could create the article List of Side-by-Side Manufacturers and it would pass AFD with flying colours. Let it stay here, and we won't have that problem. - OK, we can leave the list but the "notable" claim has no justification: I have removed this claim. Also, I have added an advert tag to warn readers about possibly questionable material. Rlsheehan (talk) 16:22, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- I disagree with both actions. "Notable" in this case means companies who have Wikipedia pages. In the past we've had additions of non-notable companies to this article. As no specific UTV is being highlighted, it's not an advert by any stretch of the imagination (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:55, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed, the "bluelinks only" rule is a common way to keep lists from devolving into linkfarms and such. tedder (talk) 22:46, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Question
Why is "Safety" the only topic? Such a fast-growing product category deserves more. Assuming anyone can agree on just what a Side By Side is :) In the opinion of many owners SxS's are the safest type of ATV due to the rollcage, seatbelts, external frame, familiar car-like controls, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guy48065 (talk • contribs) 17:26, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- There's an intro and a safety section. Yes, this could be expanded, but there are very few resources ... feel free to find some. Unfortunately, your "opinion" is invalid for use in an encyclopedia. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:30, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
some more info for this page.
many states classify UTVs are Type II ATVs. Minnesota and Utah for example defines this type of vehicle as "Motorized floatation tire vehichles with atlest 3, but no more then 6 low pressure tires. An engine size of under 1000ccs, and a total dry weight between 1000 and 1800 pounds."

whats that suposed to mean? 94.63.82.69 (talk) 20:21, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- There must be a minimum of two seats that are aside each other. This has now been clarified in the opening line. Rally Wonk (talk) 16:31, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
