Just Close Your Eyes - WWE Theme Tune Rumours
There has been no formal confirmation made over whether Story of the Year performed Christian's wrestling entrance theme music for WWE. Yet a number of people are editing the page to include this as a fact. Can people only edit this article with information providing an actual source as per the requirements of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robriotuk (talk • contribs) 19:52, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
(The song sounds also like a song/a cover of Guano Apes, Big in Japan (which is also a cover of 80's Big in Japan by Alphaville.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.165.153.174 (talk) 00:33, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
I believe this is true because if you look at the CD that the realease it has their name on it. And it sounds like them. SO i think it is.
Screamo!?
wow, i have no idea what the hell is wrong with you ppl. how the hell did you get to Screamo? Story Of The Year are NOT Screamo. so stop writing stupid things, and let ppl that LISTEN to them write the genre. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.183.131.106 (talk) 21:39, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
I listen to them, and I think they are screamo. How are they not screamo? The screaming vocals are there (especially on ITWOD), the heavy guitars are there, the emotional singing is there. What's wrong with calling them screamo? --216.110.246.146 (talk) 04:53, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Not every band that screams is screamo. -- FatalError 03:16, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, Story of the year is my neighbors uncles band, also i have heard them myself as has everyone else here, they are not screamo. screamo is a type of music where all they do is scream for example, most of asking alexandria's stuff is screamo. story of the year, however, is not. They are a punk-rock sort of band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.107.38.137 (talk) 01:47, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Similar
In my opinion they sound very similar to I Am Ghost. I'm not sure what genre this would label them as Gothic Rock or Post-Hardcore doesnt really suit them. Mayb now that we have 2 similar bands (and to a lesser degree sum 41's album "chuck") we could "invent" a genre for them such as "Heavy Punk" or "Light/Soft Metalcore".58.6.15.205 08:45, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
story of the year is not gothic, they're rock, there! its done.Anonymousslam 09:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
I'm looking for reliable sources and altering the genre to what it says on them... the myspace on (even though i think it was me who suggested it) is not reliable, and should only have been left there until reliable sources have been found... which they are being found now. So when the genre changes in a few minutes, they will be properly cited! Asics talk Editor review! 18:02, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
- I found citation on AMG, as well as AOL music, and Warner Bros Records. The most reliable of these is AMG, but I think the other two are alright. It doesn't particularly matter anyway if the others are no good, as AMG serves as citation for the genres mentioned on these websites as well. Asics talk Editor review! 18:25, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Story promo.jpg
Image:Story promo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Genre
There's no doubt that Story Of The Year is post-grunge. Sounds a bit like screamo, but there's no emo in there. Clearly post-grunge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.166.236.249 (talk) 16:22, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
I say Post hardcore instead.
And they are not rock. I would describe them as
Punk Emo Metal Post hardcore
Until the day I die sounds pretty emo, and sidewalks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.38.65.47 (talk) 09:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Strange that you say it. Lately, there is this problem going with emocore. A portion of the emo claims that a lot of music style that resemble emo music in some way are emo, while non-emo people who for some reason dislike emocore claims that some band, which are cleary emo, are not part of the emocore crowd, mainly because they like it and cannot accept liking emo music. I consider myself neither, and I do not think SOTY is emo in any way. They do not have many emo influences in they music, and the lyrics are not likely to be associated with the "usual" emocore themes. Sidewalks is about a homesick person and the music itself is quite far from emocore, cannot be classified as emo. Until the die I die does seem to have something emo about it, but we cannot just classify a music "emo" just because it's lyrics are about love in some way. You do know that there is "love" outside emo, right?
- Emo? Screamo? Do you guys even know what you're talking about? Try "alternative rock". -- FatalError (t|c) 00:40, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
we should just let metalcore and emo Revamanis2 (talk) 22:26, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Sleep
who thinks the song sleep sounds like it says "we will die forever" it sounds like that, but the lyrics say drive, but they may have been wrong, so im not sure, but it sounds like "we will die forever." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt 14 (talk • contribs) 16:14, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Actually, the song has a lot of stuff about a car, "asleep at the wheel" for instance. So its drive forever. Plus, I do think it says drive forever, I never had that problem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.9.67.234 (talk) 16:51, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
History
I noticed that the opening paragraph/paragraphs contains a brief history of the band. This should probably be integrated into the history section or into any relevant section. I'll do it in a few days myself if nobody wants to, but I just wanted to let the frequent editors of the page know about it. ╦ﺇ₥₥€Ԋ(talk/contribs) 03:05, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
punk rock
these guys really are punk rock, when they performed "in the shadows" live as i saw in a youtube video, the image/attitude was that of modern (not classic) punk rock they didnt look/dress "emo" or anything like that, but as for post punk, a band can sound different to other punk and still be punk, afterall its supposed to be about standing out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.38.65.47 (talk) 15:04, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- You just basically said "a band can not sound punk but still be punk". There is little punk rock influence in SOTY's music. Pop punk, maybe a little, but not punk rock. -- FatalError (t|c) 00:39, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I understand what you mean about pop punk. Dan sings very much like a pop punk singer, though he does sometimes put on a more punky or heavy metal voice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thrice34 (talk • contribs) 15:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Experimenting
I looked up certification information and charting information, and decided to make a basic chart with the newly discovered information. I started to experiment with different ways to make the chart and different ways to present the information, and came up with the following chart. Just wondering what everyone else thought before adding it. Regardless of what is decided, I plan to add the information to page, I just wanted to know what people thought about the "uber-table" with all categories included. Bonus tracks
Where can i find the bonus tracks that came with the pre-orders of The Black Swan? They kicked as and i want to be able to listen to them without youtube, any help is welcomed and much appreciated.
Quick note: The above arguments about the bands genre are a kinda meaningless. Who cares what genre SOTY is in? They kick ass thats all that matters. If people ask what genre they are just say they are "awesome rock" 71.244.104.101 (talk) 19:27, 25 July 2008 (UTC)z67

- Good! so i listed those in the "musical classification" section. MOST references call the band alternativerock, posthardcore, postgrunge, and punkmetal though.--♫ Chris-B-Koolio ♫ ... (Talk)
Future activity?
Does anyone know about any future activity from the band? plans to record a new album and/or play concerts? last year, the bass player left his side project, and I would assume the band were ready to roll again, but I don't know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.97.141.85 (talk) 23:21, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Phil Sneed not playing bass
I would like to ask to remove bass guitar from Phil Sneed as both the band and him haven't said that he would play bass also, check both there facebook, there ain't a post regarding to this change and besides on the member list Phil Sneed is still lister on guitar and vocals.
