Notability
I believe this company does meet all the standards on Wikipedia:WEB, and had just put up an initial stub page while I was in the process of filling it out. I believe it is very similar to SkillSlate, Quora, Swipely, Yummly and other startups that have received press coverage and are notable within the realm of internet properties.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Birkbot (talk • contribs) 00:19, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Advert-like Summary
The summary of the article is written like an advertisement. I added the template for cleanup. Brandon Dusseau (talk) 17:36, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
- Agreed. Took a crack at fixing it. Chisme (talk) 01:11, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Someone reverted the fixed content and made it sound like an ad again. I've fixed it again. If they continue to revert it, we should consider getting this page locked. Jm307 (talk) 16:02, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
Confused
I will not hide the fact that I am a Thumbtack provider: I have a link to the Wikipedia Thumbtack article on my own business website. It is my belief that an honest factual article benefits me.
Please elaborate on your accusation of advertising. I see nothing that could be classified as "hype". I am wondering if whoever put that accusation up (it makes the article look bad) has a connection to one of the many Thumbtack competitors.
Thumbtack is a "unicorn" having gone from startup, to having a value of over a billion dollars (or so I'm told). There are an estimated 200,000+ service providers bidding on jobs posted by more than a million "job-posters" I think a company of that size would merit a few paragraphs in a Wikipedia article.
I'm new to this whole article editing thing: So I don't know if anyone will see this, and I am trying to figure out how to remove that pink banner.ReeseTurbin (talk) 00:07, 25 October 2016 (UTC)oct 24, 2016
Update and expand relevant company information
This article is somewhat outdated in its description of the company as a 'website,' and also focuses almost exclusively on its investors. Propose either removing the 'website' descriptor or changing it to 'app.' Article should also mention Thumbtack's two mobile apps (one for consumers and one for professionals) as well as its three offices (headquarters in San Francisco, plus an office in Draper, UT and Manila, PH).
