The elephant in the room

I do not doubt that some editor will howl about it ("so what? " "what's the big deal? There are lots of non-straight characters on TV today! ", etc. etc.), but the article shouldn't ignore that the series' protagonist is lesbian:
"Falco kept things light when she was asked whether Tommy’s sexual orientation (she is a lesbian) impacts the way she acts and thinks."
"And in showing her still-more-uncertain interactions with women (Tommy is, incidentally, a lesbian, a detail whose easy sublimation into the show’s CBS-procedural texture feels pleasant and welcome)...."
"In the series, Tommy is a lesbian and when asked why the character needed to be a lesbian, the actor replied, “Because I think it’s important that every single person — large, small, different colors — gets represented in our television."
"Falco's title character (a nickname for Abigail Thomas) isn't just distinctive because she's a woman, but also a lesbian."
"Edie Falco plays the role of Abigail “Tommy” Thomas as she becomes the first female police chief of Los Angeles. However, there is another important detail about Tommy: she is a lesbian." Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 08:34, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
