Changed to incomplete

Well, I don't see any description at the top and I feel this is pretty poorly written. Feels like some kind of intern for the company did this. 174.7.84.245 (talk) 16:17, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Glicko

The references provided on the claim that is an extension of Glicko do not actually say that. They are both bayesian systems keeping track of a rating and a rating deviation, but that's where the similarities ends. Since there are patents involved, wikipedia might want to be careful about how it describes the relationship between these systems. 195.1.73.1 (talk) 06:52, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update calculation

It would be nice if someone just laid out how the update calculation works on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.232.222.3 (talk) 17:38, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, it would. Unfortunately my understanding of Bayesian inference isn't good enough to do it myself. It also doesn't help that the published formulas are not complete, IIUC -- some needed functions are shown as graphs, but not defined explicitly. — DataWraith (talk) 21:11, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Patents?

Is this algorithm somehow patented? Or can anyone use this algorithm? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tddt (talkcontribs) 04:16, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, seems to be covered by patents (e.g. [1]). The name TrueSkill itself is a Trademark. For personal use you won't run into trouble, Microsoft even provides a calculator on the website for that purpose. Using it in a commercial gaming service on the other hand is likely to lead to trouble. In that case you'd have to fall back on Glicko or Elo. — DataWraith (talk) 23:59, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This says you can use it for noncommercial purposes, but no reference to back it up: http://trueskill.org/ https://github.com/sublee/trueskill/blob/master/LICENSE — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.224.69.24 (talk) 01:54, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
