Emmy Wins
WOWP did not win an Emmy for both its program and its DCOM in 2010, because they were in direct competition to each other. Only the DCOM won an emmy. I have adjusted the chart accordingly.

Broadcasting
One note about the German broadcast entry: Disney Channel Deutschland is a Pay TV channel in Germany. But you can see the show in German Free TV, too. So, should it be mentioned or would it be too much information? 77.181.33.88 (talk) 19:06, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

References to other shows
Alex Russo's best friend is Harper Finkle. On Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Sabrina has a friend/boyfriend named Harvey Kinkle. Get it? Similar.
{here's something else I just thought of.} A more transparent reference is the name of character Mr. Laritate. It's pronounced Lair-ee-tayte. Larry Tate from Bewitched was Darrin's white-haired boss.
In the episode "Art Teacher," Alex's 40-year old teacher (who is in actuality a 16-year old student transformed by T.J,'s spell) is named Miss Jenny Majorhealy. Major Healy from I Dream of Jeannie was Tony Nelson's best friend and fellow astronaut.
Though there is no official pronouncement, the use of theatrical nods is a long-standing device at least dating back to vaudeville.
Jessemckay (talk) 18:11, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Similar Themes
Sabrina, The Teenage Witch is a television comedy show featuring a teenage girl who uses magic, frequently gets in trouble when the magic backfires, encounters a variety of humorous ailments and different creatures from the magical world such as elves.
Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie have these attributes as well; however, Samantha Stephens and Jeannie are not teenagers. Charmed is another similar show except it is darker and more dramatic (and, like 'Wizards', there are three magic-using siblings).
The editors have decided that these above paragraphs don't belong in the article because of sourcing.
"Any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by a reliable source." [[1]]
We'd all like to respect that, wouldn't we?
Direct plagiarism doesn't have a sourcing problem - it has a copyright problem, so we can't engage in it here. Everything else has a potential sourcing problem because the effort of reading, organizing, and presenting material in digest form always gives rise to potential challenges.
But is it really reasonable to challenge this material?
Thanks, Jessemckay (talk) 05:40, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, it wasn't too long at all. The page was only about 21kB when you archived it. Although a recommendation to archive appears at about 32kB, most pages are at least twice that size before being archived. It's also good practice to ask on the talk page before archiving pages, especially when the page is as short as this was. --AussieLegend (talk) 17:59, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

- Perhaps you should have looked through what you were archiving while you were doing so.[2][3] The page has already been created, and subsequently deleted, more than once. --AussieLegend (talk) 20:02, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Wizards of Waverly Place spells has now been deleted subsequent to an AfD discussion which may be seen here. It should not be re-created. --AussieLegend (talk) 16:26, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- I don't understand why it was deleted when List of spells in Harry Potter exists which is exactly like the List of Spells in Wizards of Waverly Place, both have nobility because of their Main Topic and affiliation to their Main Topic and Company/Person. I guess it might had been because one of the Wikipedia rules. Otherwise I think the List of Spells in Wizards of Waverly Place should be merged into the List of Wizards of Waverly Place Episodes under its own section for List of Spells in Wizards of Waverly Place. Just because there's movie doesn't mean it's the end of it! For example, HSM they had movies 3 times. And, did they stop making them? No. I'm not trying to be mean, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.49.94.247 (talk) 13:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC) But HSM wasnt a t.v series. They will probably end Wizards of Waverly Place with a movie after like 6 seasons.
I only think they'll end Wizards of Waverly place when Jake or Selena find some other thing to do and since davids the oldest he could just go to collegenor something like run off with his vampire girlfriend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lizz0625 (talk • contribs) 13:52, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Does any one know the title for the movie?
As I said in the title...does anyone know the title? I clearly don't. But, I hope it's nothing to do with WizTech. I love Wiz Tech, but they already had two movies with Wiz Tech in them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.49.94.247 (talk) 13:32, 28 March 2009 (UTC) The movie will probably be called Wizards of Waverly Place, The movie.Just like what they did with Hannah Montanna.

Has anybody noticed the strong similarity between the Wizards title music (2007) and "9 to 5" by Lady Sovereign (2006), especially the chorus (YouTube link). I'm shocked that nobody has sued, especially with Sovereign belonging to a big label like Def Jam. Does anybody know who the Wizards theme is credited to? 87.194.150.80 (talk) 17:07, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Max Russo
I think the longer name for Max is "Maximillian", as mentioned in Episode 7, Alex's Choice. 13:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.32.56 (talk)
- It is at 17:53 in that episode (with commercials removed). Max says "I am trying Maximillian now to see if it catches on". That means his formal name is NOT Maximillian as that is said in response to a question asking what his name was. --NrDg 16:02, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Recurring Characters
Gertrude "Gigi" Hollingsworth (Skyler Samuels): Alex and Harper's arch enemy. She is followed around be the Wannabes, her crew.
Amanda (Amanda Tepe): She was once a waitress at the frozen yogurt shop that Harper worked at but is also a worker at the wizard museum in "Wizard School". She plays multiple roles on the show
Hugh Normous: A wizard in WizTech who thinks he's a giant. In "Hugh's Not Normous" he finds out that he's adopted.
Zeke: Justin's nerdy best friend who speaks alien.
Mr. Laritate: The principal of Tribeca Prep. He is usually very cowboy-ish and says things like 'possy' instead of 'club'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.226.33.89 (talk) 23:10, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Movie Sequel
At Wizards of Waverly Place Film Sequel it says the plot is Alex, Max, Justin, and harper go to a different universe but, there is no proof or a refrence to it. So I don't know if it's true or not. Last Season? Or Not?
The end of the first paragraph says the 4th season is the last one, however when you watch Selena's Interview she doesnt say the show is ending she just says its HER last season. The show could very well continue without her. Should be clarified.
- Trust me, it is indeed the last season for all cast members. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wingdude88 (talk • contribs) 20:11, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
IMDB reports season 5 episode 1 and 2 names, episode 1 synopsis. Why would this exist if season 4 was the end? Where does Disney say this was the series finale? This has never been said. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.173.238 (talk) 06:42, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
- Imdb is user-edited and not a reliable source. Disney has advertised season 4 as the final season on TV and the media has reported the same.[4] --AussieLegend (talk) 15:54, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
There's no criticism?
Yeah I don't think this article is biased enough. There's only positive reception and a bunch of awards the shows won. This article needs to include some negative reception as well as positive like I don't know maybe that it has corny idea's for episodes, or fake effects, or whatever negative stuff the critics are saying out there. Wrong Awards ...
Hey There I just checked that wizards of waverly place has won alot of awards but in this page it shows most of them as "nominated" ... For instance Selena Gomez has one alot of awards for her role which are also showed here ; however they are shown as nominated even though they were won ??? Kindly correct it ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.135.54.22 (talk) 09:11, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex
The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex, the Wizards of Waverly Place hour-long reunion event, will premiere on the Disney Channel on Friday, March 15 at 8 p.m. EST.
According to The Huffington Post, Selena Gomez has returned to star in and executive-produce the movie. She will also be joined by her co-stars Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin.
Beau Mirchoff, who stars in Awkward, has been added as a new cast member, but David Henrie will not return to play his role of Justin Russo.
"I wanted to do it really badly. I want to make sure I promise the cast and the fans a really, really good hour-long event that they can enjoy and will leave them feeling good," Gomez said of the reunion, as quoted by Hollywood Life.
During the reunion event the Russo family, Harper (Stone) and Mason (Sulkin) will travel to Tuscany to meet the Russo's long-lost relatives. Trouble arises when Alex (Gomez) accidentally performs a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex. This leads to the two versions of Alex battling it out on top of none other than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.109.181.198 (talk) 19:27, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
Proposed merge with List of Wizards of Waverly Place spells
That article isn't notable enough for its own article. It would be good information to add to this one, though. Lugia2453 (talk) 19:10, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- Obviously non-notable and unsourced. It shouldn't exist but there is no need to merge the spells here. They're unnecessary minutiae that would bloat the article unnecessarily. All of the spells are listed in the season articles so they'd be completely redundant. The article was previously deleted at AfD, as well as under the title "Spells of Wizards of Waverly Place", so it shouldn't have been created. Accordingly, I've redirected the article here. --AussieLegend (✉) 19:41, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Happy to review this. I haven't seen this sitcom in a long time, but I remember seeing it show up in programme guides quite frequently when I was working for Disney! Anyhow, the article is a good read, so thanks for bringing it up to GA standard. Here's some feedback/comments before I promote..
- "focus on family, friendship, and growing up." - the term "adolescence" might sound better here
- "In an essay, Colin Ackerman analysed.." - who's Colin Ackerman? Author, scholar, critic?
- Wiki-linking of some common terms; not sure how useful they are to general readers: shopping mall, sandwich shop, family business, role model, fall, etc among others.
- Disney Channel has been wiki-linked twice
- "Mark Robinson wrote in a blog.." - is he an author, critic?
- Films and specials section - you've used both "film" and "movie" here. Perhaps just use "film" for consistency?
- Sources appear to be archived and reliable
- Images - suitable captions and tagged
- No copyright issues found
A few tweaks here and there, nothing major. Thanks, LM150 16:04, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @LM150:, welcome to the article and thanks for the review. Working for Disney (Channel?) sounds incredible, would love to hear more about it! I have fixed all of the above suggestions. Please let me know if I missed anything. Thanks! SatDis (talk) 02:34, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Hey ~
- "Critics have found fault with the.." - might sound better as "Critics have criticized the.."
- "Merchandising" header - would "Home media" be a more appropriate header? No pressure to change it though.
For future improvement, I think the story and characters section could be expanded a little. As could the critical reception. It's also possible to add the track listing of soundtrack. However, I'm not going to stop this from obtaining GA now, as the article is broad enough.
And yes! I worked in media technology, and my role was to support the broadcast systems which aired Disney Channel content in Europe, Middle East and Africa. It wasn't a glamorous job, but I had the opportunity to meet the likes of CEO Bob Iger, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and actress Scarlett Johansson of the Marvel films! Toy sales and a cinema screening room were highlights too! LM150 16:56, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @LM150:, sorry, "critics criticized" doesn't sound right to me, just in terms of flow of writing, that's why I used "found fault with". I've used "Merchandising" as it not only covers home media, but the soundtrack album and video games as well.
- Thanks for the review. That role sounds excellent, what a dream to work for Disney in any capacity! SatDis (talk) 12:03, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ok great, now passing! LM150 19:12, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Recommendation for a Special Episodes Section
Hey ~
I was looking at the Wikipedia page for iCarly and noticed that the editors included a section for "Special Episodes" where they added the synopsis of each episode, title, air date, type, and amount of viewers. I think that this article would greatly benefit with the addition of a "Special Episodes" section. Skyli12 (talk) 19:08, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- The article for Wizards went through the featured article process, and these articles rely less on tables like the iCarly episodes table, and more on essential information in paragraphs. SatDis (talk) 22:26, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
