What are Book Reports?

NoomBot is running a task to automatically generate reports about the status of Wikipedia books.

These book reports lists

  • ... assessment ratings for each article in the book
  • ... cleanup templates found in the articles, based on User:Cyberbot I/TemplateList
  • ... non-free media found within articles
  • ... average rating of the articles
  • ... redirected or duplicated articles found in the book

Additionally, they link to a few tools which help editors to clean up articles and ensure their quality

How does it score?

The bot will do an average of all articles with an eligible score. The breakdown is

Article score
FA FL A GA B C Start Stub Unassessed Other
10 10 9 8 7 5 3 1 0

Articles with ratings other than those found in this table will not be eligible for scoring (List-class for example)

The "average score" of a book determines the "average class" of a book.

Average rating
FA A GA B C Start Stub Unassessed
10–9.5 9.4–8.5 8.4–7.5 7.4–6.1 6.0–4.1 4.0–2.1 2.0–0.1 0.0

For example, a book with 5 FA-Class (5 × 10), 3 GA-Class (3 ×8), 2 C-Class (2 × 5), 1 List-class (−) and 4 unassessed articles (0), has a total score of 84, spread across 14 articles (List-class is excluded). So the "average" is 6.0, meaning an average class of C (6.0–4.1). This scale is somewhat arbitrary and may be tweaked in the future. It is only meant to give a rough estimate of where the book stands, and should always be taken with a grain of salt.

New cleanup templates?
