            The Department of Career and Technology Teacher Education offer you the option to get your bachelor of science in Education degree, it also gives you the option to get into the certificate program for those seeking New York state teacher certification as teacher f career and technical Education. 

            The CTE program programs offers the Bachelor of science in Education degree,initial and professional Cte teaching certificates, Extension certificate for coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs, AND a certificate Program for non-degree students. Specific CTE subjects who can seek certification include the career fields of famliy and costumer sciences _e.g., culinary arts, textile and design): health (e.g., dental hygene, nursing); and trade/technical occupations (e.g.,automotive maintenance, computer technology, and graphic arts). Graduates of the Career and technical teacher education are employed in varies of setting which involve Cte programs in high school, private trade schools, Board of Cooperative Education Service and industrial programs.
            The technology teacher Education Program offers the Bachelor of science in Education degree, the Initial Certificate, Transitional C Certificate for career changer, and Professional Certificate in technology education through the Transitional C program. The technology teacher education program focuses on the board technological system of communication construction, manufacturing, transportation and energy. As part of the communication systems sequence, the program collaborates with the Computer System Technology Department to offer students an array use and manage information technology (IT) in the schools.

Tech Ed. Option

In technology teacher education, future teachers develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions required to teach technology education in kindergarten through 12th grade. Technology education is a hands-on program designed to allow students in Kindergarten through 12th grade to develop technological literacy. Technological literacy is the ability to develop, use, manage, understand and assess technology.

Students must receive a grade of “B” or higher in each course taken in with an EDU prefix. They must sustain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7 in order to continue in the program beyond 12 credits and to enroll in student teaching and to gradate. Student teaching is required for program completion and a college recommendation for New York State certification. Students who complete the degree program of study are recommended for the New York State initial teaching certificate. By completing the degree program of study, students also fulfill the NYSTCE requirements.

Many graduates have established careers in business and industry, using their technical expertise and there liberal arts and professional education with its emphasis on human development and learning. A master’s degree is required for the New York State professional certificate as a technology teacher. Graduates from the baccalaureate program in technology teacher education have the choice to pursue a master’s degree in instructional technalogy, educational administraton and supervision, special edukation, or other education specialties that are offered at The City University and elsewhere in the country.
