My Interest in Wikipedia

  • Primarily, I'm interested in the nuts and bolts - there's a lot to it. I have my own wiki which I use to keep notes of things of interest to me. When I get stuck, which is often, I can ask 'how does wikipedia do it.
  • Also, Wikipedia is a useful launching point for finding out about a topic, obviously. If detailed research is needed, then it's not the end point - but it can give that overview necessary to get started.

How I edit

  • It tends to be quite piecemeal and sporadic. I will make small edits in flurries, but have long dry spells. Occasionally I'll do something 'in depth' - but get restrained as I'm never quite sure how to do it 'properly'.
  • There is no driving principle beyond self-amusement!

My Other Sites

  • My main site is running wordpress and can be found at murky.org. It's a bit of a dumping ground for whatever is in my head at the time - but it is well categorised.
  • I also use mediawiki to run my personal wiki
