Sivagiri is well connected with Erode and Karur, the neighboring towns.

The place where the temple exists now was garden of flowers – Poonthottam in Tamil. Amman rose from this place with a smile. Hence, She is praised as ponkaliamman. The temple is in the midst of Thalayanallur, Sivagiri, Erode.
