Repeated References

Hi there, I noticed in some of your edits, when trying to fix the references you accidentally broke the reference links. When the same reference is used, there is no need to repeat the whole reference. Instead the <ref name> parameter is used. The first use of the reference is given as <ref name= something> followed by all of the reference information. Every other repeat of the reference then just uses < ref name= NAME /> with the slash before the > . For example, when you duplicated all the information for the links, for example at Jessie Flemming and Christine Sinclair you actually broke the references and now it shows errors. Hope this message helps your future editing. RedPatch (talk) 03:45, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I have undone the 7 edits on the Christine Sinclair article that RedPatch referred to above, so that the errors in references have been corrected. Regards, PKT(alk) 13:27, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Walter Görlitz. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jessie Fleming, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:38, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Remember to Update Date when you update stats

Hi there, I noticed on a few of your recent updates, when you updated players appearance stats, you forgot to update the date updated parameter in both the infobox and the stats tables. I have fixed these on your recent edits. In the future, please remember to update those dates so that the stats match the date. Thank you. RedPatch (talk) 16:17, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:41, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Canterbury Tail talk 18:51, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Again you are continuing to make edits without edit summaries. People may revert your edits, especially those where you are deleting or changing information without providing any indication as to why. For instance your edits to Sport in Ottawa aren't explained and involved deleting data. Please use edit summaries to avoid any misunderstandings. Canterbury Tail talk 20:27, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Canada national baseball team, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Curtis Taylor. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Beybey771! Your additions to Canadian Soccer Association have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 23:09, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Canelo Álvarez

Greetings. He never fought notably at light welterweight (barely a few fights early on), so it doesn't need including on the infobox. See MOS:BOXING/INFOBOX – weight. Hope that helps. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:00, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please add sources when making additions

Hi there, when you add content to an article, please remember to add a web reference with the information to the prose. Content that is added without a reference is likely to be removed per WP:VERIFY. I notice you did not do so with your recent addition to Justin Smith (soccer). I have added a source to verify the content. RedPatch (talk) 19:58, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
