ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Apology

Hello. I apologize for my edit that you had to revert on Mega_Man#Mega_Man_Legends. I sincerely thought it was a spoiler. --Abacos (talk) 22:08, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Ashanti

You should read the edits you revert before doing so. "among the two of the biggest hit songs of 2002" is not grammatically correct and the Grammy press conference took place on January 7. I looked it up before I changed it. You can look it up yourself if you don't believe me. I've taken the time to once again correct the page (after waiting a few hours with no response, which is cool, maybe you're busy). I added an edit summary explaining what I said here. Hopefully, that's not a problem for you. 166.194.204.58 (talk) 16:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Talk page sandboxes

I hope I didn't do anything wrong by adding like 40 sections to the page. Like don't the sandboxes have less rules than other pages as they're for testing stuff? If what I did constituted vandalism, I do apologize and will not add a bunch of sections to the talk pages again. I was just bored and had nothing to edit on Wikipedia for a while so I had to use the sandboxes to edit and experiment. 1033Forest (talk) 00:04, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

@1033Forest: No, you didn't do anything wrong, as long as you understand that the sandboxes you were using are supposed to be available to anyone to use and/or clear, and should not be monopolized because you are bored. Perhaps you don't know that you have a sandbox which is exclusively yours, which you can edit and use for experiments without interfering with or inconveniencing any other editor. See it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:1033Forest/sandbox. General Ization Talk 00:09, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the response, I understand now. 1033Forest (talk) 00:13, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Vandalism

Hi ... a few days ago you helped remove the vandalism on the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles page. But I've noticed some more vandalism that I hadn't seen before. In the infobox under Nicknames it says "Silvertails Chip Thieves". The Silvertails part is correct, the rest is the vandalism. However when I try to delete Chip Thieves I get a string of warning messages. Can you tell me what is going on there? Bryan Krippner (talk) 12:44, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

@Bryan Krippner: Without knowing the content of the "warning messages" you received, I couldn't say, but I've removed the latest vandalism. Thanks. General Ization Talk 01:21, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
I still see the warning messages when I edit the page (without submitting) and select "Show Preview". Bryan Krippner (talk) 04:17, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

Ah, I see (at Wikipedia:WikiProject Quality Article Improvement/Precious). But may I suggest that you say a bit more in order to clarify the matter as you congratulate editors on the anniversary of their first receiving QAI recognition? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one puzzled about this. (I have actually been puzzled about this for at least the last six years, but finally became enough so to ask you about it.) Simpson FAQ suggestion

Perhaps we should start a discussion (perhaps on the OJ article itself) on how we can make an FAQ above as to why the article is to remain neutral in regard to Simpson’s guilt or innocence. What we can use is an edit filter on the page (and the article itself, I suppose) which, if the submitted edit contains the word "alleged" or “Simpson committed the murders”, blocks the edit and throws up a message referring the editor to an FAQ on why it is not allowed. I think it would need to apply to all of the peripheral articles too, like Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, not to mention the central article, O. J. Simpson murder case. Anything that's not protected at a given moment tends to get that kind of drive-by edit. There are good arguments that can be made some reasons why if someone else (or a group of someones) had been involved in the murders (either as the real/actual killer or an accomplice with Simpson), the LAPD would not have charged them. Many positing alternate theories argue that either the LAPD framed Simpson or conducted a shady investigation that led them to miss evidence of other's involvement or ignore evidence because they did not want to undermine their public position that Simpson acted alone. From what I gather, Wikipedia policy is not to proclaim guilt especially if a person if found not guilty by a court of law. That does not mean his is innocent as we all no, but it does not Wikipedia should not state that position. We can state that many people believe he got away with murder. We also have to acknowledge though that others feel differently and think he was framed or that he was at least not the sole perpetrator in the murders. While many people are frim on stating they believe the evidence points to Simpson indeed being the real murderer and having acted alone, some people have posited alternate theories for the murders in which either one or more other suspects committed the murders or in which Simpson did not act alone. If we're going to have to divide how people feel about the case, in varying ways, it only makes sense that we should have FAQ detailing the neutrality towards Simpson’s guilt or innocence. 92.17.197.110 (talk) 22:16, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
