HP inuse tag
- Please do not add the {{inuse}} tag to the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince any more. The first time you did so, you left it on for over four hours until it was removed, and the second time you tried this stunt, it was seven hours until it was removed. If you honestly wish to edit this article, I suggest you do so offline in a text editor or in your own personal sandbox. If you add the tag to this article from now on, I will revert you as soon as I see it. - I'm sorry if I came across a little strong, but it's just that you did it twice, and I've seen tonnes of people come in and make a mess of things. I thought that's what you were doing, but as I stated above, I gave some suggestions if you were making honest edits, which is what you were doing. Enough people try to look at these things that leaving on an incomplete synopsis makes the article seem... unencyclopedic. As for the article itself leaving out a lot of detail, the very reason it's so short and concise is because we were aiming to cut it down to size. People reading this summary article are looking for a brief synopsis stating relevant facts, and if they want more detail, they can read many of the other larger plot synopses that exist, such as Harry Potter (plot), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Full Plot Summary, and Wikibooks:Harry Potter plots.
- As I said, if it seems like I'm "repelling" you, I sincerely apologise, because I usually try to treat people with respect. I try to welcome users when I can and give them the benefit of the doubt, but I've also seen people come and vandalise articles or doing things after being asked several times not to. I try to be welcoming, but after dealing with the whole influx of bad-faith edits to Harry Potter articles, it can wear down on you after a while. Also, you have to admit that four hours (the first time) and seven hours (the second time) is a long time. At least now now you know that you shouldn't use the {{inuse}} tag for so long :-) As I said, I apologise if I seemed terse, and it certainly isn't my intention to drive away good faith editors who only want to improve an article. As for what is an appropriate length for a brief synopsis, we've already discussed this on the talk page (at various places). If you wish to contribute more detail to a longer synopsis, we would welcome your help at Harry Potter (plot) or Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Full Plot Summary (or, if you want to try your hand at Wikibooks, you can go to Wikibooks:Harry Potter plots). If you're wondering what is good to use for off-article edits, I use Notepad and Textpad to make offline edits, or you can make your own sandbox, such as at User:H.J.Potter/Sandbox and try out your edits there (I have one at User:Deathphoenix/Sandbox).
