deleted of page of Frank Karlitschek
Hi, I noticed that you deleted the page of Frank Karlitschek completely. You said that it just advertising and not relevant. This is not true. If you search for Frank on the Internet you see that he is a well known Open Source person and a regular keynote speaker at big conferences. There are even several other Wikipedia pages mentioning him. So it would be great if you could recreate the page. If you think that the content is just advertising for projects I would appreciate if you could give me some hints how to improve the text so that it is more appropriate. Thanks in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CmdrSource (talk • contribs) 00:10, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Olimp page deleted
Hi, I just noticed you deleted the page for "Olimp" [1] with the rationale "G6: Deleted to make room for an uncontroversial page move". I can't remember what Olimp redirected to previously (Olimp, Romania I think), but apparently this uncontroversial page move never happened since there's nothing under "Olimp" as of now. It should be, obviously, redirected to "Olimp (disambiguation)". However, I hesitate to create this redirect without checking with you first, since you deleted the previous version of the page.radek (talk) 22:36, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sure thing... let's get it back up. Jmlk17 05:40, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
DECOBIKE
hello,:Hey there Frank. I'd recommend checking out a couple guidelines here. Also, Velib and Bicing are massive programs in enormous cities involving thousands of bikes. This is not to say DecoBike is not the same... just perhaps not as well-known? You are obviously more than welcome to edit and create articles here on notable organizations. I'd recommend finding a few, good, concrete sources discussing the program. Along the lines of government releases and stories, large news organizations with info, etc. I totally believe in the bike sharing cause myself (we have a couple programs in the city I live in and I LOVE them), and I'd offer a hand however I may. To save your article from being deleted again, try working on it in a personal use space like User:Frank33139/DecoBike. Personal spaces like that are the ideal area to work on something to help bring it up to snuff before you actually publish it for the world to see. Hope all is well, hope this helps a bit, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Jmlk17 18:05, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
thanks for the feedback. i think with some additional work on it to bring in more sources is a good way to proceed for me.

- Your gang is almost certainly not notable. You mention it being almost a house-hold name at a certain high school... that does not make it a notable organization. Furthermore, your edit summary "(This is a low-key gang growing in the Yay Area. Fo'ty Fo's Fo Life)" may show a conflict of interest. Sorry, but a "gang" that occupies no mention in the media that no one has heard of is probably not notable. Jmlk17 18:28, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Deletion of new page Heidi Julia Bender
Hello -
I note you've deleted the page Heidi Julia Bender because "Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject".
Please note at the bottom of the page there's a note from the International Astronomical Union that says, "Heidi is the only child for whom a crater on Venus has been named. While she doesn't have the quantity of substantial works of other authors and artists, the USGS and the IAU recognized that a child who accomplishes so much in such a short time under such duress, and has had such a positive effect on so many people, is famous indeed."
This is a 10-year-old child we're talking about, who has provided many people with incredible inspiration. I respectfully request that you reconsider your rejection of this page, with suggestions for its improvement. Thank you.
Hjbender1 (talk) 13:35, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- I understand her significance within the IAU, but in the end, does she truly satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines? If she truly does, an article is obviously more than welcome. But within other and outside research, it just may appear that she does not. Jmlk17 20:17, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
I believe she does satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. For example, your definition of "notability" is
A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published[3] secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent,[4] and independent of the subject.
Under "Additional Criteria" you continue with "A person is generally notable if they meet any of the following standards." and under #1 "The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for one several times."
In Heidi's case, she's the only child so honored, for reasons the United States Geological Survey (who nominated her) and the International Astronomical Union (who approved her) felt were sufficient to make her notable.
Please note that this information is linked from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Lunar and Planetary Institute, both of which are Wikipedia references.
More to the point, Wikipedia lists the Venus craters, including Heidi's (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_craters_on_Venus#B), and she is one of the few names on your list without a biographical link. I'd like to correct that, with your support. Hjbender1 (talk) 23:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- It certainly seems that Heidi just may belong on here. My recommendation it to recreate the article in a personal page area such at User:Hjbender1/Sandbox and get it polished up, and then publish it as an article again. If you have any concerns or questions, I'd be more than happy to help. Jmlk17 18:29, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
I'll be happy to do that. I'm new to Wikipedia page construction so I'll have to learn that method. Also, could I have access to my original page? I put a fair amount of work into it and a lot of it should be suitable for my next (better) effort. I thought it would remain under my userid, but that was deleted too, and I didn't keep a copy of it on my computer.
Thanks! 96.231.149.245 (talk) 18:45, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- Done. I put the article in your User:Hjbender1/Sandbox personal space. Hope this helps! Jmlk17 17:40, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Excellent! Thanks! I'll be working to improve it to Wiki's standards. 96.231.149.245 (talk) 19:20, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I've (hopefully) improved the Heidi Julia Bender page, which you'll find in my Sandbox. Could you please look at it and offer suggestions? If it looks OK, I'd like to put it on Wiki and point the Venus crater listing to it. Thanks! Hjbender1 (talk) 17:02, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
I can't figure out how to copy the new article in my Sandbox into the main Wikipedia. Please advise. Thanks! Hjbender1 (talk) 02:39, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- All you should have to do is copy/paste the information into the article again. Try Heidi Julia Bender. Jmlk17 06:37, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Furiae Cult in Cuchara
I was looking at the Cuchara, Colorado entry and saw "Cuchara is locally famous for a number of notable paranormal and supernatural sightings. Most of these sightings focus around the legend of Robert A. Leger, who became notorious for founding the short-lived Furiae cult, who were based in south-central Colorado in the early 20th century." and looked for anything about said cult, since I have never heard of anything like that growing up near there and saw that you had deleted the article as a hoax. I was wondering if you might be so good as to edit the Cuchara entry as well, thanks.209.94.91.10 (talk) 23:56, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Hope the sky is blue on the other side. I am trying to create and submit a 3 Biography pages for; 1) "Shabanali Eslami" who is a well known Movie producer in Iran with more than 16 Cinematic and Television work 2) "Mahnaz Eslami" who has been acting in iran since 1983 with more than 13 appearances in full lengh movies and dramas 3) And "AshCon Eslamy" Who was a child actor in Iran and appeared in 3 movies and now living in New Zealand as a Music producer.
Now I have created an AshCon page twice and was deleted, once by you. are you able to give me some tips and hints on what I would need to change on my AshCon page so it can get approved so I can apply the same structure to the other two.

Deleted OS/VS2 article had been intended as disambiguation
The article OS/VS2 had been intended as a disambiguation page to distinguish OS/VS2 (SVS) and OS/VS2 (MVS). When I saw the speedy delete message I realized that I had not correctly formatted it. Hello! The sudden influx of vandalism occurred because of humorous comments made by Ferguson on last night's edition of his talk show ("You look up my name on Wikipedia, it'll say I have three testicles and a wooden knee. Which is ridiculous—I have three wooden testicles."). Unless he reiterates this joke (or something similar), long-term semi-protection should not be needed. —David Levy 17:07, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Unprotection request
Hi Jmlk17. Thanks again for protecting the article Joran van der Sloot. After some discussion there, consensus is that unprotection would be a good idea because the prospects for disruption appear minimal and if it reoccurs it can be enforced by a block. Excuse me, I did NOT vandalize the Jimmy-Carter entry as you accused me of doing. I contributed a constructive paragraph about his 1980 campaign.

- No, an edit like [3] this one is personal opinion violating WP:POV issues on Wikipedia. Jmlk17 16:23, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- You think the fact that the hostage crisis in Iran made JC look weak and helpless is a "personal opinion"? It is an historical fact, which everyone who remembers the 1980 campaign remembers. Are you old enough to remember 1980? Don't you remember there was an abortive rescue attempt, in which two of USA's helicopters crashed into each other? The hostage crisis made JC appear incompetent as commander-in-chief of the military and hurt his re-election campaign very badly.
- In any event, my entering that fact was an honest mistake on my part (I still dispute that it's "personal opinion"), not an attempt to vandalize. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.243.185 (talk) 01:16, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Regulate (song) protection
Anonymous edits, is that what "vandalism" means now on WP? I didn't think so. WP:WAE. Just because I don't feel like logging in doesn't make me a vandal. Vandalism is defined by the character of the edits, not the status of the user. It grinds my gears the rash, brain-dead way admins act these days. C'est la change, I guess. - 174.46.204.210 (talk) 18:57, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Man, you should read WP:AGF asap. I never once said your edits were vandalism, and never once accused you of anything. It grinds my gears the way people automatically assume a deletion, protection, etc. revolves around them, without checking a bit more into the background of the issue(s). Next time, please check the page history first. Maybe check out WP:RFPP for a bit more information as well. But let's start with WP:AGF... a good start. Jmlk17 19:01, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Well I apologize for being mistaken. But if I could see any vandalism in the recent history before my edits, and if I hadn't been the only editor in the 90 minutes before you semiprotected, I wouldn't have assumed it was my edits you were protecting against. I didn't see any vandalism pointed out. - 174.46.204.210 (talk) 16:14, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
KVIrc page deleted
Hi! I have noticed that you deleted the page for the KVIrc IRC client [4] with the concern "Third party references showing notability have been requested for six months or longer". The client is included in all major linux distributions (see [5] for instance) just like the other clients that still have the wikipedia page (see ircle or XChat for instance). A simple google query will return a bunch of third party references showing notability. Can we bring it back? Pragma (talk) 05:57, 03 Aug 2010 (GMT+1)
- I would be more than happy to, but the article would/does definitely need some work. Would you like me to restore the article into a personal userpage, so that you could edit it and polish it up before it is restored to the actual site? As it stands now, the article just doesn't present enough notability. Jmlk17 07:01, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I write this message to inform you about the behaviour of the blocked User:Stubes99. In spite of his ban, he continues with ease vandalazing articles. Aa it can be seen in his block log, on 11 August the initial 2 weeks block was extended by your colleague JamesBWatson for "further block evasion and vandalism" (he evaded through annonymus IPs and the account User:Stears555)
But unfortunately, that did not stop him and he keeps defying the rules. He evades with nonchalance his block and attacked the following articles:
- On Long campaign artcle he adds information had have as a source an internet site: [6] (IP: 84.2.217.6, 14 august)
- Through the IP 81.183.185.244 he tries to continue his old dispute about genetics on Hungary talk page
(13 august)
- With the IP 78.92.107.119 he attacked other favourite article (Ányos Jedlik - now protected for excessive sockpuppetry) and again Hungary talk page (12 August)
- Lajos Kossuth: After editing with the IP 84.2.20.115 on 11 August he came again here on 16 August, with the IP 84.2.217.98
Can you please extend User:Stubes99 1 month block? It would be also useful to protect Lajos Kossuth against his attacks (some article were already protected to keep him away: Hungary, Ányos Jedlik, Louis I of Hungary) (79.117.156.51 (talk) 06:45, 18 August 2010 (UTC))
Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Hello Jmlk17, in this edit you wrote that the church is within the legal and internationally recognized borders of Israel. The Church is in East Jerusalem east of the Green Line. What evidence do you have that it is within " the legal and internationally recognized borders of Israel"? Also, Israel does not have a "legal and internationally recognized borders" with the Palestinian territories or with Syria. The closest thing to "borders" that Israel has are the lines drawn up in the 1949 Armistice agreements. The territory that Israel holds outside of those boundaries are considered by the UN, the ICRC, and nearly every state on the planet to be held in a state of belligerent occupation. East Jerusalem and the Church are not within what is recognized as Israeli territory. Could you please revert your edit and join the discussion on the talk page? Thanks, nableezy - 17:39, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

AraPacis
I could have fixed your objection about importance quite easily as AraPacis is a significant player in the Montreal music scene and has been for quite some time. Furthermore, those involved in the band, specifically Jerry Fielden, basically built said scene. But how do I add this information now that the page is deleted? I know it's "speedy deletion", but at least give people the chance to improve your perceived criticisms. Matthew Cadrin (talk) 18:37, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also, I was reading the "Speedy Deletion" policy, why wasn't I notified that a page I created was set for deletion, as suggested by the policy? I'm less upset by the page deletion than I am with the arbitrariness of the action taken and the lack of recourse to appeal; especially considering it was a decent article, no featured article to be sure, but not a one-liner stub. Thinking more on importance, I realize there is a subjective component. To you, AraPacis is not important, yet a segment of Montreal would vocally disagree. Why does your opinion of importance matter more than theirs? Matthew Cadrin (talk) 18:47, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- My opinion is no more important than anyone else on the site. All I was doing was working on administration backlogs. From the page, an issue with notability caused the deletion. Check out that page for a bit more info, and we can go from there, either with a restoration of the page, or perhaps a deletion review. Jmlk17 19:12, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there, I'm noticing that the AraPacis page (which I didn't create but did keep up to date) keeps getting deleted despite our band (yes, I'll be up front, I'm the guitarist) having 2 albums out, being on several compilations and being talked about in the news of the 2 most important metal web zines on the Web. Could you please restore it. Thank you! Slugguitar (talk) 20:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Baobab (software) deletion
Hi,
Baobab (software) got deleted by you, after some notability warning was put up for some time on it. I'm not saying that it is or isn't notable enough, but it did raise 2 questions: - what is 'suggestion software'? - instead of just deleting the content, it would have made sense to incorporate (some) content into the article on Disk space analyzer, which is a stub and could use more information. You didn't do so, but maybe you got some good reason not to? I'm curious.
have a nice day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.1.224.196 (talk) 20:21, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi! This is not proper use of the rollback feature. WP:Rollback does not mention "good faith" or "AGF". The rollback feature should only be used for doing obvious vandalism, not for reverting any good faith edits. Otherwise, you may be taking a risk of loosing your rollback rights. /HeyMid (contributions) 18:21, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

- There is no reason why rollback wasn't perfectly acceptable to use under the circumstances. Don't forget that the person involved ignored a warning and recreated previously reverted content. Heymid, while your zeal is commendable, think of all the other things you could have done with the time spent quibbling over the minutia of a irrelevant situation. The Arts Music Store - deletion
Hello,
I was asked by the owner of the company to write a brief history of the company since I have personally been part of it since it's beginning. I removed the context of the music school and added the relevance that it's a Canadian Music store that's been in business for over 26 years and according to CMT magazine (our trade magazine) it's now in the Top 10 financially largest Music Stores 2009. Since we receive inquiries from all over the world on a daily basis, he figured that a brief history of the business would be good for our customers.
I hope this article now meets your specifications. Please let me know If I've overlooked anything, I kept it as 3rd person and non-biased as possible.

Edit on the Taco page
I wasn't vandalizing the page, I was trying to correct the term "tacos de camerones". That is not how you say shrimp tacos in Spanish. The correct term is "tacos de camaron". Do you speak spanish? You are using a plural. You wouldn't say shrimps tacos would you? Please don't assume all edits are vandalism. The Zeitgeist Movement
I've been skimming over the talk page. Most of the editors' main concern seems to be whether or not the content 'is beneficial to the movement' and 'describes the official position of The Zeitgeist Movement.' Critical viewpoints have also been repeatedly deleted. Looking through the history, most of the edits are from users who have never edited other articles, or only closely related articles. I believe that a major Conflict of Interest is going on, and I feel it should be brought to attention. Zazaban (talk) 19:50, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Whatever you did, we lost the link at the Red Wolf page to the Red Wolf (disambiguation) page. I tried to fix it but may have made the problem worse. Sorry! Chrisrus (talk) 03:57, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Do you mean Red Wolf (disambiguation)? Why does the article about the Red Wolf have the title Red wolf (lowercase)? It's the proper name of a wolf same as Red Poll is the name of a cattle breed. Moriori (talk) 04:09, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- That's why I'm here; Jmlk17 just changed that "W" to lower case, giving the reason that it was an "uncontavercial" move. Apparantly not! Chrisrus (talk) 04:15, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- If you saw his edit, you can see that he is only fulfilling a request that was being made, whether if it is "uncontroversial" is up to the people to discuss and decide whether another move is needed.--IGeMiNix (talk) 05:17, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Whatever about that, the point is any change made to the titles of red wolf and red wolf talk should not mess up red wolf (disambig), to be careful about that page too. Chrisrus (talk) 15:01, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well it is changed back, so this discussion is pretty much over.--IGeMiNix (talk) 17:29, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

This is a CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) change. "Defenseman" is not a variable for the attribute "text-align" in CSS. "center" means positioning the text elements in the center of each "cell" or "column" in a specific row. I've seen translations, and that was pretty close. However, it was typed poorly (which I could improve upon), gave no reference (which I could), but is it even appropriate to have the entire text in the article (I'm not so sure)? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 21:42, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, the translations are pretty darn good, but I must agree with you on the last part. Probably (at least in my opinion) doesn't even belong in the article. There are dozens of sources our there for the translations, and some great ones that take you through the tapestry and translate the latin as you go. Jmlk17 21:44, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's the translation of my own contribution from french article[14]
- Don't be disturbed by the "telegraphic" style; it's the style of the tapestry it self (like incipit in books).
- I can propose 1 reference : Andrew Bridgeford (trad. Béatrice Vierne), 1066, l’histoire secrète de la tapisserie de Bayeux, Éditiond du Rocher, coll. « Anatolia », 2004 (réimpr. 2005) (ISBN 2-268-05528-0)
- I typed it exactly like in the tapestry (typed poorly), perhaps it have any sens perhaps not; I don't know.

I think that the speed of your deletion, is connected to the unusual aspect of the typography and to the "telegraphic" style of the text (which could evoke vandalism). The initial request of source seemed to me unappropriate : the source is the tapestry itself ! The translation does not generally need source (there's a difference between the initial document (which can need source), and his translation which generally don't need).
About the presence of this section, I think that your reaction is the proof of its necessity: where can we find on internet this transcription with the exact typography. Maybe this typography have a sense, maybe not. Who know's ? For the moment I read no work to this subject, but the history of sciences is full of discoveries based on the observation of abnormalities, considered until then as errors or artefacts. In the French article this part raised no problem.
I think that I gave the precisions which were initially asked. Can you undo your the removal ? Or do you prefer that I'll put this section again, myself, with the asked precisions ? Thanks --Qqchose2sucre (talk) 08:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Up to you. A quick google search gives numerous sources of translations by the way. Jmlk17 17:03, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok I'll put it in a lower rank of the summary. What do you think about including the whole tapestry jpeg like in the french article : wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/fe/Tapisserie_de_Bayeux_31109.jpg . Thanks. Qqchose2sucre (talk) 06:21, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jmlk17
I'm wondering why you reverted without comment my removal (which was accompanied by an explanatory edit summary) of the {{recent death}} template from the above-captioned article. As you know, the template is only for articles that are currently being heavily edited. The article has been edited by 65 editors in the past 24 hours--and the editing was very heavy for the first several hours after the subject's death. However, in the past several hours the editing has slowed to a level far below the threshold indicated by the template instructions.
Thanks, Bongomatic 01:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC) Should you wish to reply, please do so here. I will watch this page for a few days, so no {{talkback}} or other comment on my talk page is required.

Hey! Don't want to come across rude or anything but why did you delete my Empty Headz page . Im trying to promote the band as we were winners from Blastbeat UK 2010, which have their own page. I'd really like my page back please It might not seem much to you, but it does to me And i hadn't fully finished applying the information if it was more so because it wasnt completed.

- (talk page stalker) Hi Lottie. I don't know for sure, but I can guess why (I've looked at the deleted article): the article you created didn't mention why the band are "significant or notable" - it just listed band members and genres. Take a look at this guideline for bands - it shows how we assess that a band is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. I'd recommend creating an article in your "userspace", for example at User:Lanky larza/Empty Headz, and then running it past other editors (Jmlk17, for example, or me) before you move the article into "article space". I'll leave it to Jmlk17 to discuss getting the information back to you. TFOWR 17:07, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Please restore Dollar Van Demos
Hi Jmlk17, I created a page for the web series Dollar Van Demos using the company name as the login to Wikipedia. I've changed the login to my name Joe Revitte and wish to have the Dollar Van Demos entry restored.
This is not a promotion-- we are an established series that is vitally important to many performing artists in New York City and viewers around the world. The entry also contained verifiable references to legitimate news sources that have featured Dollar Van Demos: namely, The Guardian, Time Magazine, and Entertainment Weekly. The next heading dealt with the series adaptation for a widely-distributed (on national tv and radio in the United States) commercial for McDonalds.
It only makes sense that anyone wanting more information on this series due to its visibility can look it up on Wikipedia.
Please reconsider your action and restore this entry.
thank you kindly, JR —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joe Revitte (talk • contribs) 17:07, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Please do not remove the links to other Anaheim-based teams on the Anaheim Ducks season articles, it is something that allows someone to jump back and forth between teams in the city. why did you delete the Manoochehr Sadeghi page?
I'm obviously not good at wikipedia.
many people have been bugging me to put more information about who my father is, the santur, persian music, etc....
but everything I try to do gets either manipulated the wrong way or deleted altogether.
I need to find someone with the knowledge to do this the right way and I'm willing to pay someone.
but there is a lot of information about persian classical music that's wrong on here.
and the Santur page, I've had to fight to keep it straight, but there are seriously loser players listed under "Notable Santur Players"
please help or advise me what to do
thanks

I saw you deleted the page for my company, 352 Media Group, due to "Expired PROD, concern was: Long reference list, but none of them actually measure up. They're either very trivial mentions or self-published/press release stuff. I can't find anything more substantial." I'd love to be able to provide you with more relevant links. I agree the references were dated. I didn't want to personally change the page for fear of being accused of trying to advertise.
My company is one of the largest Web development companies in the US, and I want to make sure it is included while not stepping on any boundries. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

KVIrc page ready
Hi! I've reworked the KVIrc page as you suggested, adding external references and links. I think it's perfectly comparable with the pages of other IRC clients now. Do you think I can put it back in place ? Pragma2 (talk) 22:24, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Somehow this popped up on my watchlist, so I took a look. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see no evidence that this software achieves notability, i.e. has been discussed in multiple independent sources. Who has taken notice of this software, what did they have to say about it? Or put another way, can I write my own IRC client, no matter how crappy it is, list it on a bunch of freeware repositories, and get a Wikipedia article? Even if zero people ever review it or download it or actually use it day-to-day? Franamax (talk) 22:53, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, this, for instance, is a link showing notability. It means that kvirc is included in Ubuntu which is the major Linux distribution these times. this is another one related to Debian which is very unlikely to allow crappy software to be included in the distro. The link to the Free Software Foundation Directory Entry and the one that points to the Linux Software Map Entry dated 1999 also arent't just pointing to freeware repositories. I could give links to other linux distributions, user-written tutorials, youtube videos... but I don't think these make too much sense in a Wikipedia article: Google will show them up with the trivial query. If all these aren't enough to meet the notability guidelines then most of the pages of the clients listed in Comparison_of_IRC_clients should be deleted. Pragma2 (talk) 01:09, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- OK first of all, if you think other articles should be deleted, then propose they be deleted. But take my advice, DO NOT use "because my article was deleted" as your rationale, you will get jumped all over if you try it. Base your deletion rationale on sound policy arguments, not WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. You could go through that list of articles and check whether they have had AFD proposals in the past (look on the article talk page, there's usually a box at the top to explain if there previously was an AFD). Read those to see what elements need to be present for an article to be kept, and how to present a case that any Wikipedia article be deleted.
- I only looked at two random articles from Category:Internet Relay Chat clients - both had independent mentions from outside sources, which is what I was looking for. Your proposed links are to related entities, for instance being part of a Linux distro doesn't convey any particular notability, since it's not inherited. You need examples of coverage by people who have nothing at all to do with the software.
- I checked those two links again and you're quite right. They don't link to "freeware repositories", rather they point to "directories of freely reposited software" - which as you say, Google already does quite well for those interested in this particular system. And I didn't mean at all that this particular software is "crappy", I was talking about the predicted results if -I- were trying to write it. I have a long track record in writing crappy software. :) Franamax (talk) 02:36, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, indipendent people building packages of a software in order to include it in an indipendent Linux distro is an expression of a choice and can be assimilated to an indipendent mention. For KVIrc this choice is repeated since ten years by the most important distributions (so it's also multiple).
- But maybe I've misunderstood the notability requirements (forgive me, I must admit that I'm quite a newbie) and I'm pointing out references that aren't exactly correct... We said that inclusion in most Linux distros isn't OK, reviews by "freeware repositories" aren't OK and vulnerability advisories aren't OK (I assume, as they are currently listed in the page). Blogs then? Tom's Hardware? Linux Weekly News? Independent User Forums? Independent Developer Forums? Can you point me to some examples of valid sources that other IRC clients use so I can lookup the KVIrc equivalents? Pragma2 (talk) 04:42, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

- I've spent more time on reading notability guidelines and related articles (and thus attempting to decrease my level of newbieness). I understand that coverage in books might be a good source for notability. A book about a single IRC client is unlikely but a google-books query returns several mentions in publications with broader topic (linux, networking, security). Picking from the first ones: [15], [16], [17], [18], [19], [20]. Pragma2 (talk) 01:45, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, you're getting better at this. :) Malware Forensics mentions it as a "popular" client, which is good. Unix Internet Relay Chat Clients would be great - but you'd either have to buy the book or get it through your local library system or at a university library. That looks like "in-depth coverage by an independent source" which is bang on the money for notability purposes. In response to your previous post, I'm aware of Tom's Hardware, I think it may be fairly respected i.e. above the level of a blog. Don't know much about the rest. Examples of valid sources other articles use: well I guess I -could- point them out to you, but that would take all the fun out of it for you. ;) You can read some other articles yourself and decide which are "good" sources and which are shaky. Independent, reputable, authoritative, in-depth coverage is what we look for - or as close to that as possible, it doesn't have to be a book by the dean of computer science at MIT. You can also ask at WP:COMPUTING, they will have a good idea of what is needed to show notability and what is a reliable source in these areas. Franamax (talk) 05:48, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

- Yet more work on the subject. I've beautified the article a bit and added more WP:VERIFIABILITY sources.
- I've also looked more deeply at the discussions regarding WP:AFD of the other IRC clients in order to find out the sources that have been accepted as notability proof. The AfD discussion about Konversation accepts Softpedia, LinuxLinks and LWN as reliable notability sources. KVIrc has entries on the same sites and one is even shared: [21], [22] and [23]. I've added them to the article. The Smuxi AfD discussion accepts Tom's Hardware reference which is again shared with KVIrc [24]. PIRCH lists some books as sources just like the KVIrc book references above. I don't know if it makes sense to add them all to the article.
- It's quite hard to come out with something far better... none of the other challenged IRC clients seems to have references that look really "more authoritative" than the ones above (and this seems to be a common pattern visible in many non commercial software articles).
- Anyway, if at least *some* of the sources I've cited are acceptable then the verifiability and notability is more evident in the article now... Pragma2 (talk) 23:47, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
- The Unix Internet Relay Chat Clients book cannot be used as it is simply a reprint of Wikipedia content and using it would amount to an ouroboros. What I suggest for now is creating a Further reading section in the article draft and adding all of the reviews and other potential sources there. Those can then be integrated into the body of the article a few at a time. --Tothwolf (talk) 03:31, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi there, you protected Israel and the apartheid analogy due to a row concerning a move of the page concerning which there was a mediated result, but other editors chose to not agree with it. Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next several days.

Deletion of playbattlefield from bonus.com
Just wondering why was this game deleted? Is there something similar out there? Could it be brought back? or is it already back? I know it was 3 years ago... but curious to know if its still out there... :/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.186.240.89 (talk) 07:44, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Join the dark side, we have cookies
Dear Jmlk17,
You were accepted to dark side for the following evil deed - deletion of this Wiki page:
Deletionpedia - Mirror of the deleted Wikipedia pages
You would not be disappointed: cookies are very tasty, especially chocolate cookies.
Yours sincerely,
Dart Vader
- I'm afraid you are very unlikely to get a response from Jmlk17, as that he hasn't edited Wikipedia in two years. Trusilver 08:15, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Stop deleting stuff Jmlk17
You have deleted several valid pages, how/why you are still at it, while no one has stepped in is beyond me, but STOP IT. You obviously have 0 access to google or something. You have stated many times that some pages are just for people "rising" in fame, such as DJ Mangoo who is VERY well known for more than just "Eurodancer" So please do some research before mashing the delete button next time.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.84.163.241 (talk) 05:07, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Notice of change
Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Seany B
Hey There,
I was about to create an article for Seany B, but note that there was one that you protected/deleted back in 2008. Since then, he has had another platinum selling single (#4) with Vanessa Amorosi (Mr Mysterious) plus various other singles and is releasing a new single today with Joel Fletcher. I was hoping to create an article on him now and I believe he is now notable. I've not been in this situation before, so let me know how you go about you review this information, or it is unprotected for a while that I add into it directly and you review or what not. Thanks heaps, T

the acquitted felons
you have deleted a page for the band "The Aquitted Felons" because they don't have significance? But I disagree. They were the group that began the desert sessions. Look up Josh Homme. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.49.100.230 (talk) 18:47, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Akshay is protected...
Hello Jmlk17. I just created a page Akshay (given name). It should really be called just Akshay, but the Akshay page was deleted by you in April 2008 and is protected. Any chance you could unprotect it and then move my page Akshay (given name) to become Akshay please? Thanks. — Hebrides (talk) 21:55, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
High School Musical 4
It has been announced that there will be a High School Musical 4. I was just about to create a redirect when I saw that you had salted the page. Now that the project has been announced I think the redirect is necessary. Cindlevet (talk) 23:07, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Wondering about reology, what it is and why the page was deleted. Any information, please? Thank you.Asnen (talk) 21:50, 8 June 2016 (UTC) BTW, I found a reference to reology on a psychology website, and blog, I guess, run by two therapists who, I think, are claiming to be "reologists."Asnen (talk) 21:50, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Katherine Simms
Simms was a well-noted Medieval irish historian. Recently deceased she has received a number of plaudits from her cohort of fellow historians in the universities. These include symposium on her work discovering the connections between England and irish administration during the late middle ages.
Typical titles included:
- Katherine Simms, ‘Bards and Barons: the Anglo-Irish aristocracy and the native culture’ in Medieval frontier societies, 177-96.
- Katherine Simms, From kings to warlords: the changing political structure of Gaelic later middle ages (Studies in Celtic history 7 Woodbridge 1987; repr 2000).
- Katherine Simms, “The Ulster revolt of 1404: an anti-Lancastrian dimension?” in Brendan Smith (ed.), Ireland and the English world in the late Middle Ages: essays in honour of Robin Frame (Basingstoke, 2009)
As a form of archival record, a proper page listing her achievements and contributions to this neglected page in the annals of irish law, history and politics might not be inappropriate.
Sorry, I have no gags to insert !
