Article Evaluation

Oprah Winfrey: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oprah_Winfrey

1. Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? All of the ones I checked had appropraite, relaiable references.

2. Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you? Everything in this article was relavent to Oprah Winfrey. None of the information distracted me, I thought it was a well-wriitten article.

3. Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position? In my opinion, the article was neutral. There were many different points and sections. For example, it wasn't all about her professional life because there was some information of her personal/love life as well.

4. Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that biased noted? This information came from a variety of sources. I wouldn't say all of them were neutral, because there were an abundance of them; but I would say most of them were. I didn't see any information that was heavily or obviously biased excpet for <"Ice Cube Says Oprah Has 'a Problem With Hip-Hop". Fox News. May 28, 2006. Accessed September 17, 2010>

5. Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented? I thought the whole article was a perfect representation of Oprah's life, esspecially since it had sections of her personal and professional life.

6. Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article? Yes, all the ones I tried worked, but some were very short (for example, the reference of the man claiming to be Oprah's father). On another note, I didn't see anything close to paraphrasing.

7. Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added? Most of the information seemed to be appropriate and up to date. Although, some of the references were from around 2010 or older. This was a very well developed article, I don't think there was any missing information.

Annotated Bibliography on Syrian Women by Madeline Towery

Madeline Towery English 3060 Sarah Einstein 31 March 2015 Annotated Bibliography "Syria: Extremists Restricting Women's Rights." Human Rights Watch. 13 Jan. 2014. Web. 31 Mar. 2015. This article had many examples of the discrimination against women in Syria. There are certain rules and regulations against women that have no basis in Syrian law. Syrian women are also denied their freedom of style and clothing. They are required to hide their skin with scarves and long robes. If the women do not comply with these wardrobe rules, they are not able to work or attend school. This article will help me fill in the “education” section, along with the “clothing” section on my Wikipedia page.
