- Thanks for the invitation. But I have no idea what this is. If I look at the Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Palestine-Israel articles 5 link you provide, it looks like I'm jumping into the middle of something -- what is the case about? -- mikeblas (talk) 16:23, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

- Yep. And I jumped into the middle of something there. The link offered here doesn't even tell me what "the case" is. Or what the arbitration actions might be. Looks like it's about some people complaining some articles were edited in a way they don't like. -- mikeblas (talk) 18:57, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Citation for US Census Bureau: regarding Selinsgrove, PA
@Mikeblas: The citation for the US Census Bureau is the page where you click the link to download the spreadsheet with the population information. You can download information for incorporated places such as cities and towns or for minor civil divisions such as townships. I included the download page as the citation link as I could not cite the spreadsheet itself. Veg Mapper (talk) 01:26, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for writing! I was going to post something to your talk page.
- I'm concerned about the edits you've been making. You specify
"|last1=Bureau |first1=US Census "
parameters in the {{Cite web}} templates you're using, and these values are bogus. They're meant to be used for the names of people, not stuffed with partial names of organizations. The publisher is the Census Bureau, and that's already covered by your"publisher="
parameter. Using these parameters creates an error for the page, placing it into Category:CS1 errors: generic name error tracking category. - If your intention is to reference a page or file, then I think you should link directly to it. It's not completely clear which link should be followed to verify the material you've added or changed. In the case of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, [1] your edit sets the estimated population at 5741. But the census spreadsheet says the 2021 estimate is 5697. None of the yearly estimates in that spreadsheet match what you added to the article. Why is that?
- I'm very anxious because it looks like you've added the bogus bylines and vague links to a few hundred articles. -- mikeblas (talk) 03:19, 3 December 2024 (UTC)

Palestine-Israel articles 5 updates
You are receiving this message because you are on the update list for Palestine-Israel articles 5. The drafters note that the scope of the case was somewhat unclear, and clarify that the scope is The interaction of named parties in the WP:PIA topic area and examination of the WP:AE process that led to two referrals to WP:ARCA
. Because this was unclear, two changes are being made:
First, the Committee will accept submissions for new parties for the next three days, until 23:59, 10 December 2024 (UTC). Anyone who wishes to suggest a party to the case may do so by creating a new section on the evidence talk page, providing a reason with WP:DIFFS as to why the user should be added, and notifying the user. After the three-day period ends, no further submission of parties will be considered except in exceptional circumstances. Because the Committee only hears disputes that have failed to be resolved by the usual means, proposed parties should have been recently taken to AE/AN/ANI, and either not sanctioned, or incompletely sanctioned. If a proposed party has not been taken to AE/AN/ANI, evidence is needed as to why such an attempt would have been ineffective.
Second, the evidence phase has been extended by a week, and will now close at 23:59, 21 December 2024 (UTC). For the Arbitration Committee, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 03:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Maruzen-Yushodo
Hi,
You mentioned me in a recent edit summary for this article because you restored my deletion of a publisher parameter in a reference. The instructions for the publisher parameter in the {{cite web}} template says, "Omit where the publisher's name is substantially the same as the name of the work (for example, The New York Times Co. publishes The New York Times newspaper, so there is no reason to name the publisher)." I made the deletion because the translation of the publisher's name is the same as the name in the web site. Not a big deal, but going by the template instructions, the website parameter should stay (though preferably as the company name) and the publisher parameter shouldn't. But I left your last edit unchanged.
Regards, Ira

- Hi Ira! Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't aware of that advice about the publisher and website parameters. I've edited the article to (along with another pass at more practical fixes for dead links and translations) used
script-website
and removed thepublisher=
parameter in exchange for using a wordywebsite=
parameter in English. What do you think of that? -- mikeblas (talk) 15:42, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:Academic journals established in 1898 indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 19:36, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

- Happy to help. Please do double heck that I've done the right thing, as it can be tricky or ambiguous to get references the right way around. I don't know much about history, but if you're stuck with referencing problems (or transclusion or excerpting ...) please do let me know and I'll see if I can help. -- mikeblas (talk) 19:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
