30 Seconds to Mars discography

I added a citation of the official Billboard Charts website. That is absolutely a reliable source considering the the chart is from Billboard! 66.253.138.215 (talk) 16:53, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Right, I see that now. You might want to use a more specific URL in the future, in this case it would be this one. --Muhandes (talk) 05:49, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Table Added

Hello

I have added a table of Pvt University for Tamil Nadu State but was not able to add column for Source. Please take time to check

Notability Issue

Hello ! Have added further notable Citations for University of Technology,Jaipur . Now can the Multiple Issue Template be removed ? Kindly guide Ansh.cardiff (talk) 14:55, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

@Ansh.cardiff: I suggest you read the notability guidelines because you seem to be mixing notable citations with what notability actually means. To quote the general notability guidelines, a topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.. None of the sources you added to University of Technology, Jaipur provides any significant coverage. In fact, piling up multiple sources to prove the same point is frowned upon, so I removed most of them. You may want to read the citation overkill essay to understand why. --Muhandes (talk) 16:17, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Another thanks

Thanks for reverting IceCuba's large-scale blanking of discographies and the note on their talk page. I've come across the perspective of removing non-charting singles before. Several other wikis (like de.wiki) do this I believe, or at the least, only list charting singles in tables and list the rest in another section, and a few editors have brought that perspective here before, but I don't agree with that approach and never will. Ss112 09:50, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

@Ss112: No problem. I didn't know other wikis do that. I think a list of singles is simply that - a list of singles. It is not a "list of successful singles". Muhandes (talk) 15:50, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

Rajasthan Pharmacy Council moved to draft

Hello !

Rajasthan Pharmacy Council is Government Council and approves Pharmacy Students for Registration.

How to get notability for same. Kindly help and guide Ansh.cardiff (talk) 16:47, 4 November 2022 (UTC)

@Ansh.cardiff: The answer is the same as I gave you exactly a week ago. You need to show significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Muhandes (talk) 15:45, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) You seem to get a lot of these questions. NPP has recently created Help:Unreviewed new page that you may find useful. MB 16:45, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

You have removed all my edits.

Hi there, I am James Grant one of the members of Ill Blu. I have been inputing information on this wiki of my career. You have removed all my content on my career portion which was cited. I was aware the production discography was uncited I was coming back to do that as it takes long to do. 2.103.23.247 (talk) 22:27, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi James. First, I recommend that you open an account. For now, I tried to communicate with you on the IP talk page, but this is no substitute. I left you two messages on that talk page, one about writing autobiographies and one about managing a conflict of interest. The text may seem like a lot, so let me summarize this in just a few words: please avoid editing articles about yourself or anyone you are related to. If you have suggestions on how to improve an article, use its talk page. Muhandes (talk) 08:03, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

New message

Muhandes pls leave me and my accounts ALONE. You have been stalking and trolling me for months and it’s too overwhelming!! Your old school formats (commas for the genres. Really?) are outdated and look very sloppy. I am only improving the formats with updated versions. The source for the page we’re talking about says it’s a punk album. I don’t understand why that can’t be listed as a primary genre? Post-punk and punk rock aren’t exactly the same thing. Source also says industrial rock and synth-pop, but I thought that would be too many genres to add. Again, leave me alone. Kindnessiskey666 (talk) 00:32, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

@Kindnessiskey666: Thanks for you communications.
  • First, communication is mandatory, so I'm happy to see that you are capable. In the future, please start a new section for a new discussion.
  • Second, saying I am stalking and trolling you for months is ridiculous since your account was created on 22 November 2022. Do you have other accounts? I left multiple message on several talk pages requesting that the owners disclose their connections to other accounts, but I was ignored. Please do so before you edit any further.
  • Third, if indeed you have other undisclosed accounts, I left explanatory messages on the other talk pages, warning their owners that they should stop edit warring, unsourced genres warring and unrequired format changing or they will be blocked. Please read those messages and feel free to ask for explanations. Continuing that behavior will get all those accounts blocked.
  • Fourth, relating to format changes, you think you are improving the formats but you are not; you are being disruptive. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is an important rule. Different editors have different visual preferences, and as long as these are acceptable, you should not force your own aesthetics, especially not after you were asked not to do it.
  • Finally, I believe your last comment relates to The Center Won't Hold. Justin has already invited you to discuss the matter on the talk page. Please do so and avoid edit warring.
Happy editing. --Muhandes (talk) 10:37, 25 November 2022 (UTC)

Opinion on Spears' vs. Spears's

Hey again Muhandes.

I was editing Britney Spears' main article page (and some others), when I noticed that there were dozens of references to Spears herself, written as "Spears's" instead of "Spears'", the latter of which is grammatically correct.

Example:

"Spears's new album was released..." (incorrect)
"Spears' new album was released..." (correct)

I did fix them, but they seem to appear on pretty much EVERY page associated with Britney Spears (singles, albums, tours etc.). I feel it would be important to correct them all, but before I do, I wanted to ask your opinion just in case somehow they were meant to be that way for some weird reason. Additionally, the same applies to Bruno Mars' articles as well (Mars's / Mars'). AnimatedZebra (talk) 16:18, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

@AnimatedZebra: English is my third language, so you should not be asking me English grammar questions. However, I do know how to google, and according to this page, If a proper name ends with an s, you can add just the apostrophe or an apostrophe and an s, both are correct. After doing that, I realized we actually have an article about this, Apostrophe#Singular nouns ending with an "s" or "z" sound. The bottom line is the same, you probably shouldn't fix it, it ain't broke. Muhandes (talk) 16:28, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

Mexican certifications

Can you please check if the templates for the Mexican certifications are up to date or not? I think it's still using the Thresholds as of October 2020. TheWikiholic (talk) 19:44, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

@TheWikiholic: I checked, and it seems to work correctly, as requested in this discussion. For example, "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)" shows 280,000 for 2× Platinum, as expected. Note that the certification goes by release date, not by certification date. Can you give an example of where it works incorrectly? The proper place to discuss this is probably Template talk:Certification Table Entry. Would you like to move it there? --Muhandes (talk) 09:08, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, it's my mistake. I thought that the certification goes by the certification date. TheWikiholic (talk) 12:28, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

I will listen and do as you say and I will not ignoring you and I am more than happy for you to assist me on everything. Let me know. No hard feelings. Thanks. FireDragonValo (talk) 19:52, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

@FireDragonValo: Against all odds I keep assuming good faith. I see you started leaving edit summaries, which is a step at the right direction. If you need any help, let me know. Muhandes (talk) 16:25, 10 December 2022 (UTC)

Unexplained template

Let me answer your question with another question: Why did you add the template of a 25-year-old Argentinian singer in the article for a 70-year-old+ Mexican television network? MexTDT (talk) 16:24, 17 December 2022 (UTC)

@MexTDT: That's a valid question with a simple answer. The series appeared on the navigation template (which I did not create), and it is the practice that the navigation template be added to those articles mentioned. In other words, it was a technical edit. I see now that Tini does not appear on this article (nor does she appear prominently on Las Estrellas (TV series), which was what was meant as a target) so I removed it from the navigation template. This, however, was what you does not justify reverting another editor's edit without an edit summary, which would have saved us both the time. Muhandes (talk) 17:30, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
You did not put your edit summary either. Without it, coming from a user that usually does not edit the article and being an absolutely unrelated template, I thought it was vandalism.
Unless you are a bot, a technical edit without taking due time to verify if the template belongs in the article is not justified. It would have saved us both time as well. MexTDT (talk) 20:26, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
@MexTDT: I agree, I should have checked better. Let's both try to do better in the future. Muhandes (talk) 22:23, 17 December 2022 (UTC)

French streaming cert help

SNEP tweeted today that "Boy with Luv" was certified Gold for 15 mil streams. I tried adding it to the table, but can't figure out what to put for 'type' to get the 15,000,000 streams figure to display. Could you help please? -- Carlobunnie (talk) 19:24, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

@Carlobunnie: SNEP does not have a streams-only certification, they have equivalent sales. As you can see here, 1500 streams are equivalent to one sale, so 15,000,000 just means 100,000 equivalent sales. 100,000 is exactly the number you get when you put a regular certification. --Muhandes (talk) 20:59, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
Oh okay. I didn't know. The wikipedia article for SNEP showed a streaming certifications table so I thought there was one. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 23:07, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
@Carlobunnie: Correction: I meant 150 streams are equivalent to one sale. This was already explained in the SNEP article but I made it even clearer that there is no streaming award, just equivalent sales calculated in terms of streams.--Muhandes (talk) 06:58, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

(Just Like) Starting Over Edit Undo

I saw that my edit in the article "(Just Like) Starting Over" was reversed even though it was sourced directly to the current Billboard chart for the Greatest Songs of All Time. The article in its current state has the All-Time charted dated to 2013, not even the 2018 update which most of the songs on the list had their end date for their All-Time chart. I know this because I manually checked every song on the current All-Time list to make sure they were up to date since the song "How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes was previously not up to date for the All-Time chart. I was just wondering why you reversed my update of the All-Time chart for John Lennon's song "(Just Like) Starting Over" on its article.

Also here is a link to my source, which is directly from Billboard and was what I used as the citation for the update: [1]https://billboard.com/charts/greatest-hot-100-singles/ The All-Time chart was last updated in 2021, when The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" reached #1 on the all-times chart. 99.6.253.145 (talk) 09:06, 30 December 2022 (UTC)

The chart you linked to is dynamic, i.e., it changes over time. The consensus is that such charts should not be used. See rule number 3: It is static, that is, the data in the chart cannot change. This excludes dynamic "all-time" charts. Now, are you going to revert all your edits yourself, or do I need to do it? Muhandes (talk) 09:24, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
The rule explicitly states that "All-Time" charts are an exception.
Also here is an article straight from the Billboard that states the "All-Time" chart was last updated on November 23rd, 2021: [2]https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/the-weeknd-blinding-lights-all-time-hot-100-123501770/ 99.6.253.145 (talk) 19:17, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
I am very annoyed when people cite a specific rule or guideline but don't read the full thing. Also the article has the full list of top 10 songs which means you can check whether or not the article is up to date since other songs like "Heat Waves" by Glass Animals, "Stay" by Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI, and "As It Was" by Harry Styles would be in the top 10 if the chart was updated today. 99.6.253.145 (talk) 19:21, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
I believe you are wrong. First, the way you read the rule is wrong, see the discussion where it was added. The rule explicitly exludes "all-time" charts from articles. Second, the source you bring only shows that the chart was updated on November 23rd, 2021, it does not show that it was last updated on that date. Finally, even if it did, it would not change, since the table can change any day. The rule excludes any table that is can change. If you disagree with any of this, you are free to discuss it at WT:CHARTS. Having an account will make communications even easier. Muhandes (talk) 15:52, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

@Carlo Colussi: This discussion does not belong on the article's talk page, nor on mine. It belongs on the template's talk page. I am moving it there. --Muhandes (talk) 15:57, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Lowercase title

Hi Muhandes, I hope you're doing well. I wanted to ask you about your change to the article "great escape" and its links. On the navigation template specifically, I reverted your edit on this because I didn't see you made other edits yet or the fact that you were a 15 year editor, so that's my bad 😅 You are free to undo my undo if that's what it comes to, but shouldn't the song's title be lowercased? In the music video, on promotional content, and even on the song cover itself the song is lowercased, that's just how it was written. With apparently 15,000 other stylized lowercase articles titles according to the top of the template, I don't see why this article can't have a lowercase title if that is how it is written everywhere else. I'm just seeking clarification on your edit, but I won't undo anything unless you're comfortable with it. Cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 10:27, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

@Johnson524: I think WP:TITLE is pretty clear about how to treat stylizations (i.e., ignore them), especially for titles in English. The artist may choose to spell it gReAt eScApE for all we care, we will still use the title Great Escape. Having said that, I can't say I am an expert in Japanese media, and there may be specific standards for that. Muhandes (talk) 10:46, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Ok, I trust what you say is correct, I just don't understand why if we have a template to make titles lowercase, its standard to put in parenthesis beside the title that it is supposed to be lower case, but not actually doing that. Nothing against you though, and thank you for explaining it to me. Cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 11:17, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
@Johnson524: Don't take my words as gospel, I've been wrong before. I assumed this is stylization, but the border between lowercase stylization (which is ignored) and actually being titled in lowercase (which is recognized) might be gray. You may want to consider WP:COMMONNAME and check what capitalization reliable English sources use. From a quick search, the only one I could find is this one which actually uses lowercase. My approach is usually to be bold, and if someone thinks I'm wrong they may revert and I'll leave the scene. Muhandes (talk) 12:23, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Ok, and thank you again for your help and understanding. While the presence of only a few English citations referring to the song make determining a true common name difficult; going off of the link you found, the Fandom page for the show [3], and most Japanese sources, I am going to say that it is more of a common name than a stylization. Again, I appreciate your help with this 😁 Cheers! Johnson524 (Talk!) 21:54, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Chilean discography vandal

Hi Muhandes. As discographies are one of your main editing topics, I thought you might like to keep an eye on/perhaps bookmark the ranges 181.203.160.112/16, 191.126.141.178/16 and 191.125.172.41/16. I think you might have already reverted some of their edits last year, but this is a Chilean IP editor I've dubbed the "Chilean discography vandal" because while they might remove some charts on articles to bring the tables to a maximum of 10 columns, they are obsessed with separating singles into decades, messing up formatting (and repeating citations without making use of refnames), and often replace sourced charts with unsourced ones. I've informed an admin so hopefully they'll be blocked, but in case they're not or they get through/return, if you see separations of singles sections into decades and "10 charts is the standard" and the other characteristic behaviours of this editor as exhibited in their contributions logs linked above, reverts would be much appreciated. Thanks. Ss112 12:00, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

I have sold millions of albums and singles. so your information is incorrect xx Alexhepburn (talk) 18:51, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

@Alexhepburn I left you a many messages on your page listing exactly what you should do if you want your pages updated with sourced information. Muhandes (talk) 18:53, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

I'm sorry to see the discussion disintegrated the way it did, but glad to see the article has been cleaned up. For future reference, the page you want to give out is Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help, which is a general landing page for distressed BLP subjects. This is one of those unfortunate situations where a BLP is only barely notable (having had one or two minor chart hits) but has next to no coverage in reliable sources. For example, I could easily cite a paragraph citing Christone "Kingfish" Ingram supporting the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park, but barely got more than a trivial passing mention for Alex Hepburn supporting Bruno Mars at the same place, which makes the article very difficult to fix up. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:21, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

@Ritchie333: Thank you for the guidance. Since I don't frequently handle BLPs, I thought the general COI message would suffice. However, I appreciate your suggestion, and I will definitely incorporate it in future cases. It's still unclear whether it was the artist or their management team involved, as they kept altering their statements with each subsequent edit. Nevertheless, in this particular instance, it seems they were attempting to forcefully impose their viewpoint on Wikipedia. This suspicious edit served as a red flag. As you can see, a substantial portion of the provided information appears, to put it delicately, fabricated. My intention was to eventually confront them with sourced evidence, proving the inaccuracies. Unfortunately, they chose to seek legal representation, which made the entire matter moot. I'd appreciate it if you could have a look and verify the information, as I currently don't have the time to pursue this further. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 09:41, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
I think you were trying to do the right thing, and looking at your contributions, I would have reverted in exactly the same way myself - the chart positions and release dates are verifiable (and I spot checked the sources and they back up what is cited), and unsourced information should be removed from BLPs, which you did. However, I think where things broke down is you stopped talking about the content and gave snarky / facetious responses such as "Step 1: Read the instructions. Step 2: follow the instructions." In your shoes, I might have said something like, "Okay, you say the single was released in 2014. But Ultrapop.be says it hit the charts in 2013. You can't both be right!"
As I mentioned over at ANI, the important thing to note here is that distressed BLP subjects do not care about Wikipedia policy and are not interested in learning, and so attempting to guide them towards policy / information pages that explain the verifiability and BLP policies, and instructions for how to identify reliable sources, or even that one editor = one account, is a fool's errand and is a bit like teaching a pig to sing. (You waste your time, and irritate the pig). Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:02, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
@Ritchie333: I don't disagree, but do take into consideration that this is very far from being my first retort in this conversation and I did try to reason with them at least ten times before that. Anyway, I think I had enough education for one day, have fun editing! Muhandes (talk) 10:13, 23 June 2023 (UTC)

Regarding the "written like a brochure" tag to the VIT-AP University page

Hi, there. So I saw that you added the "brochure" template to the VIT-AP University. Since I am a new editor, I don't really have an idea how really write a page so that doesn't look like promotional material. So can you please tell me what and where do I have to make the necessary changes to make sure that the page looks like it was written from a neutral point of view? Thank you. Someone Apex (talk) 12:50, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Hi Someone Apex. The area of each building in the campus, an excessive list of sports facilities and the names of anyone on the board are just some of the things I would expect in a brochure and not in an encyclopedia. You can use WP:UNIGUIDE as a starting point, but just use common sense, I'm sure you've seen an encyclopedia before. I would suggest editing on your sandbox if you are unexperienced. Muhandes (talk) 19:10, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
Yea, honestly that felt really excessive to me too. Honestly, my inspiration was from VNIT's infrastructure and IIT_Kharagpur's Campus section. With that being said I will definitely shorten the campus and infrastructure section of VIT-AP University in the coming days. Also, thanks a lot for pointing out my mistakes. Edit: Hey! I made quite a few amounts of changes to the VIT-AP University page, can you check that page once more please. Someone Apex (talk) 16:38, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Apologies, Someone Apex, but I am extremely busy in real life, so I will not be able to assist you much. I may have a look when I find the time. Muhandes (talk) 07:47, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
Yea, no issues! I am also kind of busy with various stuffs, currently. You may take as long as you want, Someone Apex (talk) 10:10, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

MSP discography template

Hi there, I added the Know Our B-Sides EP back in as well as Nobody Loved You - both were released in Japan only and still official, just like Further Away was and has been in the template for quite a while without issue. Apeholder (talk) 13:42, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

@Apeholder: There is no such thing as a "discography template". What you edited is the navigation template, and navigation templates never include all the discography since they must comply with WP:EXISTING. They only include entries for which there is an article, or a redirect to a distinct sub-topic of an article. Now that you created articles for these entries, they can be added to the navigation template, at least as long as the pages exist. Muhandes (talk) 15:08, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
@Muhandes: Do you mean the articles that exist which you just nominated for deletion? If your logic makes sense, then please add deletion notices for the other two other EPs listed as well as Further Away Apeholder (talk) 16:06, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
@Apeholder: You may be correct, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS all the time. If I cared about this at all and I had any time, I would have reviewed Further Away, Life Becoming a Landslide and New Art Riot and maybe RfDed them too. Since I don't care nor have the time, I wont. Muhandes (talk) 16:33, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
@Muhandes: Like I said before, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not relevant so why do you keep mentioning it? It was very disingenuous for you to even bring it up. The examples I quoted are EXACTLY the same thing and that WP guidance does not apply. You might want to consider taking a break from Wikipedia because you're taking this all too seriouslyApeholder (talk) 14:16, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
@Apeholder: We hold differing views on the meaning of WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, a common occurrence among adults engaged in discussions. The community has sided with my interpretation regarding Nobody Loved You, while ongoing debate about Know Our B-Sides will likely end with no consensus due to limited participation. Whether I choose to take this matter seriously or opt for a Wikipedia hiatus is a personal decision, not subject to discussion. Your suggestion is viewed as offensive and, if repeated, may be considered harassment. Have fun editing. Muhandes (talk) 14:58, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
@Muhandes: No, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS makes a series of clear examples about what does and doesn't count, you have just arbitrarily decided to that it includes what you claim it does. "The community" decided with a vote of 3 to 2 to re-direct, hardly an overwhelming consensus. Your suggestion that my comment about you taking a mental health break from Wikipedia is laughable, and I too am highly offended by your comment, and also considering contacting the authorities over you violently exposing me to the word "F*CK" with your attempt at humor in the link you provided above.Apeholder (talk) 21:24, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
@Apeholder: Just as adults have the right to hold differing opinions, they also have the freedom to experience offense. Regarding the MSP pages, I don't have any further input to contribute. Therefore, I kindly request that you refrain from discussing this topic on my talk page. However, I welcome discussions on other subjects, unless the prospect of "violent exposure" is a concern. Have fun editing. Muhandes (talk) 05:27, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Can you add a legacy heading for each of these 3 rappers? Jay Z Nas and Kendrick Lamar, I see a lot of hip hop artists have a Legacy Heading on their page. Recently they added it on Lil Wayne page. Can You add it on these 3 rappers because they are some ot the greatest of all time and they have distinct styles. I don t know how to edit these pages. So can you add legacy for those 3. Album certifications

Hi, I’ve seen you edit a lot with album certifications but I opened up a discussion on here regarding whether or not we’re supposed to keep an old sales ref after an album has been updated with a new cert. If you’re able to please comment there. Thank you! Pillowdelight (talk) 00:12, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

RiSA certifications

As I have been patrolling South African entertainment industry articles, i have stumbled across a lot of articles with no sales parameters under certifications section. Recently you removed the sales parameter from "You're the One" and your reason was "I see no evidence RISA is the certifier", RiSA only have the following certificates Gold, Platinum, Double Platinum and Multi-platinum respectively, and it states here on their official website that:

For SINGLES & EPs
Gold = 10,000 units
Platinum = 20,000 units
Double Platinum = 40,000 units
For Multi-Platinum Awards, increase by 20,000 units

RiSA is nowhere near advanced as RIAA as RIAA has a drop down button for indicating the units of a record, and/or when a record was certified Gold, Platinum, 2× Platinum... or Diamond. Artists in South Africa often raise/d complains concerning the issuing of certificates as stated here that RiSA cannot keep up with the certificates and it has now issued contact details for artists and labels to request certificates following certain steps and requirements.

The late rapper AKA was announced the first South African rapper (all over the country's media news and frequencies) to achive the Diamond status with "Dreamwork" which was supposedly certified 5×, looking it up on RiSA there's no such information, and "Mnike" was number 1 for 16 consecutive weeks on The Official South African Charts (Billboard South Africa songs), however the song's certification details are not on the RiSA website

In conclusion:
As a Wikipedian who works heavily on South African entertainment industry, we rely on secondary sources for units and sales as RiSA won't reveal them to us. If a song is certified Platinum it is only fair to assume that it has surpassed 20,000 units and so is Diamond (10× Platinum)

If I am missing something please assist because I have seen lots of South African articles with no sales parameter, and maybe this issue needs to be heavily discussed (not on one's user talk). Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 16:44, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi Shelovesneo. I think there might be a bit of misrepresentation going on regarding South Africa's record certifications. In South Africa, as in several other countries with less authoritative certifying bodies (such as many South American countries), it's common for record labels to take matters into their own hands when it comes to issuing "awards." These awards are granted based on the criteria established by the labels themselves and are subject to their discretion. It's crucial to note that these awards are not officially reported to the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), and therefore, they do not hold official status.
The only certifications that can be considered official are the ones listed on the RiSA website. For these certifications we have a reliable and verifiable record of the number of units certified. When listing these certifications, it's advisable to use the template {{Certification Table Entry}} correctly, as it can automatically populate the relevant information.
However, for any other certifications that are not officially recognized by RiSA, we should refrain from attributing RiSA as the certifying source and avoid specifying the number of units certified unless there is corroborating information from a secondary source. Muhandes (talk) 08:38, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
Muhandes, "...avoid specifying the number of units certified unless there is corroborating information from a secondary source" you said, for "You're the One" a secondary source (not only this one) evaluated that it has moved 210,000 copies but yet the sales were removed and someone listed the song here. If a record is not Gold, Platinum, Double Platinum or Multi-Platinum it is impossible to tell the units thus again we rely on the units released by the "secondary sources" until RiSA decide to reveal the numbers to us, we can never know if a record is approaching a certain status. I hope you get where I'm coming from. Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 10:46, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
@Shelovesneo: I know nothing about this source, but I do know RiSA certifications, and singles were never 30,000 for platinum, which is the album threshold. Maybe the label used that number and the source (and others) are repeating the wrong PR number, I have no way to know. To be on the cautionary side, I removed the number which I thought was unreliable. If you disagree, feel free to override me and restore the number. Muhandes (talk) 14:04, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
Muhandes, as Park3r said on this nomination page, and i quote
And I don't know what you're talking about on that 30,000 units for singles statement.
Overriding you would mean that I can undo all the edits where you've removed sales and that is a drag, and might take this discussion further. All I'm asking is that please check the cited sources before removing the sales next time. Thank you. shelovesneo (talk) 21:07, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
@Shelovesneo: If they assert that achieving 7× Platinum status corresponds to 210,000 units sold, this implies that they also suggest 30,000 units qualify for Platinum status, which is an inaccurate assertion. Regarding your request, it aligns with my established approach: I assess the reliability of sources to the best of my abilities and knowledge, and I remove sales figures that I deem unreliable. Given my limited editing time and disinterest in conflicts, please feel free to revert any of my edits if you disagree, providing an appropriate edit summary. I believe we can put this matter to rest now. Happy editing! Muhandes (talk) 10:38, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi. I've updated the portugese certification for We Found Love by Rihanna, but the number is shown as 0 and I can't seem to find the mistake. Can you please look into it. Thank you.YGO24895 (talk) 20:29, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

@YGO24895: Someone else corrected the error, which was a missing |relmonth=. In the future, you may want to have a look at the documentation for {{Certification Table Entry}}, which says, for Portugal, Sales require |relyear= and may require |relmonth= and |relday=. updating Indian university ranking Info box

Hello thank you for updating the NIRF 2023 rankings in the infobox

I was updating the ranking on a college's page and found that the outlook rankings has not been updated to 2023.Can you add it?

PS I see you are disheartened that the infobox is not being used effectively. Ill try updating the NIRF rankings on other pages. NotPixel (talk) 12:41, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

@NotPixel: Indeed, I decided that I will not be a tool and update a template, just because some COI wants to update their employer's page. Your interest seems genuine, but I expect such interest to be shown by actions. The following category is for pages still using the 2020 (!) NIRF ranking Category:Pages using Infobox India university ranking with older rankings (90) and it has 117 articles in it as of now. I think cleaning it a bit will show real interest in these rankings. Muhandes (talk) 16:20, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
PS: The The 2024 Outlook rankings are already out. Muhandes (talk) 16:33, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
PPS: The sandbox now includes the Outlook India 2024 rankings for business and 2023 rankings for engineering, medical and law. There was never interest in the Dental or Architecture ranking, but I can add them on demand. I am waiting for the abovementioned category to clean up a little, then I can sync the sandbox with the template. --Muhandes (talk) 17:10, 20 January 2024 (UTC)
Absolutely.
Ill respond back after I updated these 117 or so. NotPixel (talk) 17:34, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Government Cuddalore Medical College and Hospital

Can you rename your above page to Government Medical College and Hospital Cuddalore. It is the official name of the college as per WDOMS and Tamilnadu Government. Refer citations number 1&2 on the same page. Links- https://search.wdoms.org/home/SchoolDetail/F0000902

Rajah Muthiah Medical College attached to Annamalai University https://cms.tn.gov.in/sites/default/files/go/hfw_e_45_2021.PDF Naveenkumarpillai (talk) 09:12, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

@Naveenkumarpillai: All these sources show is the official name, but article title should follow the common name (I suggest you follow both links). I didn't do full research, but the press I saw and and logo both suggest "Government Cuddalore Medical College" is the common name. If you have research that suggests otherwise, I am willing to consider it. Muhandes (talk) 12:16, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
ikr, but since the medical college has been recently renamed, the title should be in its new and official name so that there is no confusion between Raja Muthiah Medical College and Government Medical College and Hospital Cuddalore. If this is not done, it creates a global problem, and the new college name (almost 3 years after it was renamed) fails to get recognition for its own. Already, people perceive that both RMMC and GMCH Cuddalore are two different colleges. The media may be misleading, but an article in a trustworthy platform should not. Due to this reason, I advise you to change the article name to its official name. Naveenkumarpillai (talk) 13:00, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
@Naveenkumarpillai: You lost me there. The article name is currently Government Cuddalore Medical College and Hospital, which is the common name by which the press (and the organisation itself) refer to this institute. You are asking me to change it to "Government Medical College and Hospital Cuddalore", a name which only appears on official documents and which is very slightly different. First, can you explain why not doing so creates a global problem, and the new college name ... fails to get recognition for its own? Second, if this is so important, why would the college use the wrong order of words on their own logo? Third, why do we care? Do you perhaps have a conflict of interest? Muhandes (talk) 16:55, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
@Naveenkumarpillai: And now you moved the page although you know I disagree? Are you trying to start a fight? Muhandes (talk) 07:37, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
@Naveenkumarpillai: I hope you are happy with the result: the article was moved back to Rajah Muthiah Medical College and will most likely stay there for a long time. If you tried to creates a global problem, and the new college name ... fails to get recognition for its own, you sure took a step in the right direction. Muhandes (talk) 11:29, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Australia certs and PAM Official on Dropbox

How did you determine that ARIA certs are published on Dropbox? The title of the PDFs start with "ARIA TITLE ACCREDITATIONS REPORT", but that cannot be verified as coming from ARIA. The Dropbox account of PAM Official does not name an author or a publisher. It's impossible to verify the information any other way. To me, it looks like the Dropbox sources fail WP:USERG. Higher Education India Cleaning Report

The Page is now at 69 articles however updating some are difficult as some colleges have entirely dropped out of the rankings. I don't know if simply removing them would be correct so i have done so yet. I hope you can update the outlook ranking now. I've also noted the following while doing the cleanup

Also THE has now been updated to 2024.So has QS .The link for India Today rankings has been moved to a new site. The old site only shows the top 10 and is quite buggy.

NIRF will release the rankings again in june so will probably have to go through updating once again.

NotPixel (talk) 14:42, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

@NotPixel: If a college has dropped from the rankings, the entry should be removed. I can't remove the 2020 ranking until all usage of that ranking is removed, otherwise a broken reference will be left. Muhandes (talk) 17:29, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
@NotPixel: I feel that it would be unfair not to mention that I am very sick and not sure I would be able to do the template update. I still think your efforts are for the good and will do my best to update the template on one of my better days. --Muhandes (talk) 17:47, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
Take care. Ill remove the rankings on those pages. NotPixel (talk) 05:03, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

tuition infobox

Hi there, I noticed you've contributed to Template:Infobox university. I had an idea - to add a tuition field to the infobox. I think people would want to be able to see that at a glance when they look at colleges on Wikipedia. What do you think? Hannahthom7 (talk) 14:02, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

@Hannahthom7: I don't think it is a good idea. Tuition has a place in the article body (see WP:UNIGUIDE) but is often more complicated than a simple number and would not fit in the infobox. Muhandes (talk) 17:52, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Question about certification

It has been reported that the song "Water" by Tyla was certified platinum by Recording Industry of South Africa. RISA twitter account confirm this. However the certification is not displaying on the RISA website. Can we include this certification in the song article's certification table or is this only allowed if it displays on the RISA website? It appears the RISA website doesn't display all the certifications they give to artists or is slow to update their website. Cool Marc 10:50, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
